If feel like most people just think the only thing about building any land at a park it's just picking a piece of land and just go and discount or don't consider th multitude of potentials issues and conflicts any one plot of land may present both financially and from an infrastructure point of view just to name two realms of consideration.

Do insiders know- are they seriously considering:

1. Building a hotel by Villiansland (one day)
2. Having fireworks/projection viewing from this area?

Or is it all wishful thinking????

No one knows and it's all speculation. What we do know:
  • All of the ROA is being filled in - permits just go approved.
  • The 14 acres displayed in a construction bid is the same zone of 14 acres from the RoA water management permit
  • Two of the three laydown yards outside MK will be cleared and set with sand. One of the three will be cleared but maintain vegetation.
    • Caveat: For now. Future permits could and probably will change all this.
Nothing is known about the construction of the lands outside the descriptions given and the concept art posted at shows and parksblog.

Speculation:
  • Disney just designed a hotel in TDL that attached to the park.
  • Epic just built a hotel in their new park.
    • WIth the additional laydown yards and the work on Floridian Way you could see a future project put here.
  • Disney just added another firework viewing area in SWGE in DLR. You could connect the dots that something like that is needed at MK.
    • Guests often complain about the crowds for fireworks at MK. They would probably like to fix this.

Disney created that problem themselves when they destroyed the original twinkling light filled tree hub into a barren hub of people only stampedes. Focusing every show with projections on the castle,,,when it use to all be a show in the air and you didn't have to be in the hub in front per say to enjoy it.

It's all great until construction prices start to soar...which of course they will not realize until they have already drained the ROA and leveled TSI.....then we might just get Triceratops Spin in the middle of a giant event lawn replacing the ROA... It will be the sequel to the Marvelous Epcot Makeover that never happened...

What’s wrong with projections on the castle?

With how much the plans change, this is a fear of mine. The Cars ride could actually be really cool, but it could also be extremely scaled back. Villians land could be absolutely amazing, but coming at the end of the announced projects it could face some of the most budget cuts (complete speculation).

One thing I love about the Cars land, and the possibilities of Villian's land, is the potential for so much kinetic energy in the designs. I think it's something that the new lands have really lacked (with the most extreme example being Galaxy's Edge).

Having fireworks/projection viewing from this area?
By no means am I an insider, but this makes a ton of sense to have. If HEA lives until 2032ish, which this land might not even be open by, it will have had a similar run to Wishes. HEA will be highly likely to be replaced by that time, and if developing a new show already, creating a show designed to have an alternative soundtrack seems like a no-brainer. Reduces stress on Main Street (which will only be worse with a new show and land), makes Villian's land even better, and would probably still cost a similar amount (depending on what they do with the show).

Again, not an insider, but I can't really imagine them not doing this. Granted, Disney does some surprising stuff.

There's nothing wrong with them -- just that by using them as a focus, guests are almost forced to watch from in front of the castle or they're missing half the show, so everyone is jammed in there.

Seeing fireworks over the castle was always a draw so that was still the most popular spot pre-projections, but it wasn't almost a necessity like it is now. You could still get the whole show from other areas of the park and now you can't.

The old hub with trees was so much nicer than what's there now too.

Just to make a side note, because I don't agree with people who say HEA is a terrible show outside of Main Street (or that HEA is just a projection show). In my opinion, the actual fireworks portion of HEA is comparable to previous shows. But now instead of the castle being mostly just a pretty backdrop, it adds a lot to the show.

Not a bad show without the projections, but it's hard to not watch it in front of the castle because of how much the projections, tree lights, area lighting, and more add to the show. All the infrastructure is centered around watching HEA (and the other "modern" fireworks shows) on Main Street.

In theory, nothing as it adds to the entire package ... but it makes it so to get the full experience you need to be in a spot you have a good view of the Castle which limits where people want to be and makes the viewing experience horrible.

we refuse to watch HEA from the hub now - just too many times my kids wound up crying from other people pushing them or jamming themselves in front of them right before the show starts, putting kids on shoulders so we can't see, etc.

Now we either watch it from much further down Main St. or we just go on attractions (watched it from the speedway 2 trips ago) or like last trip watched it from the Poly beach. Much more pleasant experience (plus with the later you can have an adult beverage with you)

And this is why I prefer disneyland fireworks - you have projections on Main Street, at the castle, at the Rivers of America, and on the Small World facade, not to mention the alternate soundtrack (and soon, projections) in Galaxy's Edge (which is what we hope they'll emulate with this project)
You don't need to see it on Main Street or the hub to have the full experience, there's three different spots you can get the full experience plus another entirely different experience.

Can anyone else see this getting canceled? The lack of further information on it and it being so far out form everything else makes me think it might not even happen.

It doesn’t feel very real yet.

Well, it is probably the furthers out as far as execution of the various projects announced at D23, so not surprising the others are getting more attention

It was on the collage of images at the start of the SXSW presentation today

I doubt they have much to announce at this point.

I also think there's a good chance they're struggling with the design in terms of making something that's interesting and doesn't feel like it's essentially just a land from one specific movie (one of the reasons I don't think a Villains land is actually a good idea). They're probably not in position to show much because they don't really know what it's going to be yet.
