Funnily enough, calling a man "charming" used to be a negative as it implied he was using black magic to bewitch someone.

Yeah, that's not going to happen. From their perspective, there is no reason to do that. They just spent a bunch of money on the attraction, and it would be an admission of failure to make changes. I just don't see it.

It could happen. Probably not any time soon. Bigger fish to fry but I could see a new team coming in, looking at it and seeing how much room there is for improvement. Much of which could potentially done during a winter refurbishment.

They make changes to Haunted Mansion all the time, so I could certainly foresee improvements during annual winter refurbs in the future. Likely not soon, but in 5-10 years? Probably.

It was assumed that part of the reason they went the route they did for this attraction, was to line up with the Disney+ series coming out... which has now been cancelled.

So... maybe they can now make changes to the story, to harken back more to the original film.

Pretty unfortunate. I think it would have been a much better attraction as something closer to a book report that featured the songs (and villain) from the film.

They can obviously make some changes, but I don't think they could do a major overhaul to the story without basically rebuilding the ride, so that doesn't seem likely.

Disney just decided to shelve the series for now.

You can make a major overhaul to the story with some new dialogue, swapping out the LP or at least half of the LP scenes (which is just 2-4 frogs, the awful Tiana CGI screen and bare minimal theming) and some Facilier / ghoul projections and music changes on the lifthill with Mama Odie saving the day up top.

Although the old HDYD scenes would still be underwhelming you don’t really have to change anything story wise. And you can kind of look past the fact that it’s underwhelming if the ride is building to something. But it’s hard to do when the ride just so monotone and essentially flat lines the whole time.

Put Tiana in her real dress at the end. And it should be Louis playing a riff for us at the end (preferably the intro to Human again) right before unload instead of Mama Odie.

That's what I meant, though.

I'd be shocked if they go in and demolish entire scenes, potentially installing new AAs, etc. -- that just doesn't seem like it's in the cards unless the ride becomes basically a daily walk-on.
