No because you can't get another DAS return until you use the first one. There have been times we had to return to the DAS ride later than the time that was allowed. This is also why Genie+ does not work for us, you never know when an issue comes up. This is why some people need DAS a lot of DAS users can be unpredictable!

They can ride another ride.. but the difference is the able bodied person has to pay for Genie plus .. the DAS gives people that ability for free.. I think that is most likely the complaint people have with it.
And I say that knowing that for some DAS users it’s not a “better” experience because they have needs that prevent them from just going ride to ride with no break… but that isn’t true for everyone with the pass. So I see how it can frustrating for both sides honestly .
I agree however I think the problem is people are concerned that they are dishing out A LOT of money and the video chat doesn't happen till 30 days before your trip after all the money has been paid if they don't feel the accommodations are going to work they can't get a refund. Personally as I think about this point maybe Disney needs to offer the video chat at say 60 days?

And what makes you think that abuse is going to change? The laws haven't changed and Disney's policies haven't really changed either.
The 2 advanced reservations is going away with the new system.

Agreed. Disney won’t quit offering accommodations to ALL who need them. That said, I do understand that it is scary for people to have counted on an accommodation and then be told it might change.

Well, that is a tough situation and I'm not sure how to handle that. Hopefully if the issue is severe enough they wouldn't be able to go to Disney unless with only the DAS, then they would qualify for it.
We have had things going on in our life that made us decide to buy refundable airline tickets at times. I know that's isn't feasible for everyone, but I suggest it for those who can afford and may be in a situation where you may need to cancel.

Yes but that is a bit over the top. The reason for not having a limit is because neurodivergent individuals can be unpredictable and may not be able to return in a certain time frame. Some are sitting somewhere quiet trying to regulate themselves. Many times First aide is where you will find them "catching their breath".

Because DAS is free. Genie costs 30-40$ a day per person in a party.

I don't think this new proposed system will even stop the abuse. It just doesn’t go far enough and if anything, it will just encourage people to crack the code like they did the current program.
They need something where in order to qualify for the accommodation it has to be verified by one of their health care providers. They also need to create some kind of tier list that will match each person’s needs with what accommodation they need and stick to that. Clearly the one size fits all approach did not work and encouraged massive abuse. They also need to verify if people’s stories suddenly change based on what the new requirements are. It will not surprise me in the least if many people suddenly claim they got a surprise autism diagnosis that only seems to affect their Disney vacations and nothing else.
Their new program needs to be a lot less efficient to use so the people paying for Genie plus aren’t paying for an inferior service. The fact that Genie plus has so many hurdles and randomness associated with it and DAS pretty much allowed people to do what ever they wanted verses what times were still available are in fact a reason it became appealing for scammers to lie their way into the DAS program.
Nobody should blame Disney for pulling the plug on the current program, I hope they really push the consequences for the people who have abused this current program and especially those who try to lie their way into the new program.

Nothing will ever totally stop the abuse because there are people who will figure a way around the rules. That's just their nature.

That's not what I read. I read it was being removed as a default option on DAS, but still available for some.

You’ll never be able to stop liars from lying and close every loophole. It doesn’t appear they are attempting this directly, they aren’t touching any form of proof at all.
The little information we have points to curbing abuse and overuse (I think straight up liars are a scapegoat here) by way of a less advantageous system.

Schools and jobs can’t ask for disability information… but my understanding is that theme parks and other businesses can ask IF the service they are providing goes above and beyond equal to that if a non disabled customer . So universal gives people a choice of going through their process or purchasing the same elevated service they sell to non disabled guests.
Disney is offering DAS as an equal way to wait the same amount of time as the other guests… so if they wanted to go the route of universal they would need to be providing a service above and beyond what the other guests get. And honestly, Disney has so many people who would totally pay if they sold an express pass of sorts , it wouldn’t be sustainable to offer.

Oh with regular genie you don’t get to reserve any rides. It is just an app that tells people generally what rides have low wait and all. But in order to wait in a virtual line you have to pay .

Which is exactly what they did with DAS before and according to some it didn't work.
So if they are doing the same thing that didn't work last time, why would you expect any actual change to happen?

Okay, thanks. As I posted previously, when we were at WDW last Nov, it rained - a lot - so many rides were walk ons. I didn't remember using Genie(not+) but my husband just told me I did, lol. Hoping my brain is not atrophying like the rest of me is!

Did it not work, or did circumstances change that require more changes be made? Ignoring that I am certain if we had GAC today instead of DAS things would be noticeably worse, since we can’t prove that.
When GAC switched to DAS social media was a completely different beast (influencers were basically relegated to YouTube and not what they are today), and most importantly Disney had FP+ available to all park guests and not locked behind a paywall. FP+ being available meant that it was both used by some people with disabilities as a DAS like system and guests without disabilities had access to a DAS like system without having to do anything for it.
