Without any close calls with glacier rock theming..Yeah, it's bland.

Yeah, Velocicoaster is short ride-time wise, but the payoff is there. Velocicoaster gets better as it goes down the track. Tron starts strong and quickly loses momentum. You literally launch into a simple right turn and then immediately hit a brake run that actually slows you down lol
The problem with Tron is that it doesn't really do much outside of 3 helixes after the launch.

100% this. Even the promotional video seems odd. Why would penguins be going through snowy mountains with pine trees? Pine trees? Pine trees! They should have built more glacier rock and theme it to the penguins sliding around the ice. Maybe even a part where they splash into a pool of water.
Back on Tron versus Veloster coaster, I had no idea they were so similar in run time! I've been on both and always thought lots of coaster was several times longer and much more fun. Who knew they clocked in at just about the right time. It's got to be all the close calls and different elements that v-coaster is putting you through.
Tron is a one-trick pony. The launch. V-coaster keeps you guessing.

This also goes with Ice Breaker..A coaster that has no ice like theming but, it's there because it close to the Walrus Exhibit that involves ice..

Does anyone know if they stopped letting you return to guardians at any time as long as you had a virtual queue spot? This morning I got group 16 and when I checked it now it says my return window has expired and it deleted it off my Disney experience. It’s now showing an option to be in the park at 1pm and book another queue. Have they finally forced you to return during the window?

I know if you have DAS they’ve accommodated late boarding for the guardians VQ. But maybe they’re cracking down?

I believe that's standard behavior with the app. Whether they let you in past your window or not is up to those at the gates. They have let people on late historically, but I assume this could change at any time. Hopefully they let you in if you were there before 1. If not, then there would be little reason to pull a VQ at 7am anyway.
Did you try again at 1?

Not from my experience lol
App will "delete" visibility to your boarding group, but when you check-in at the ride it'll still show it, they just need to manually let you in.

I think you're completely missing the point of its theme. You're supposed to ride it with a stranger and this is a great icebreaker experience.This also goes with Ice Breaker..A coaster that has no ice like theming but, it's there because it close to the Walrus Exhibit that involves ice..
More seriously there is some very bad ice theming done in the q line. But yes it makes perfect sense to have a completely outdoor coaster called the icebreaker and then paint it bright orange.
Please do not lick the orange ice.

Hummm come on.... that's not the market they attraction is designed for.
Disney did not sit down around a table and decided to designer thrill ride specific for those who like thrill rides but can't handle long ones.
And when they do, they design it in other ways. Show scenes and pacing. Thunder Mountain and Splash being classic examples of this.

The issue is the ride's flow. The ride's main section feels incredibly short because the first 30 seconds of the ride are pulling up to the launch without any show scene, then the launch out into the park, and then a break run upon re-entry into an unthemed grey tunnel. It is about 50 seconds before you enter the main portion of the ride, which itself is only another 40-some seconds long. That means the guest only has 40-some seconds of the ride's core to enjoy. And its not thrill-packed or incredibly interesting visually. Its like Mummy, Ghost Galaxy, or Rockin' Rollercoaster with a much tamer ride experience.
This choppiness and pacing is one reason I don't love Expedition Everest. It feels like as soon as the ride starts going, we stop again and reset. With a mediocre finale.
Compare Tron with Velocicoaster. Both about the same length in terms of time, and kind of in terms of themeing quality. But what VC does well is that it has the ride get crazier. We don't have a launch into a slow down, we launch into a bunch of tight turns and head choppers. Then we have a second launch into the big sweeping parts of the coaster with the more physical thrills. It grows. Tron shuttles you to a launch that is kind of ugly and breaks the immersion, then breaks, then you enter a modern version of Space Mountain for 40 seconds before breaking.
If Tron had been built with an enclosed launch that featured the same effects and no breaking needed the last half, it would feel VERY different. Pulling up, having the game grid start to come to life around you, launching into it with immersive effects all around you, before ramping up to the thrilling fast-paced finale. Same length, but would feel much better as a guest. Add 10 seconds beforehand with a short show scene with the launch and a few better effects for the finale and the ride would be top tier.

Half of TRON's ride time is the tunnel to launch and the end tunnel. Plus TRON starts fast and then hard brakes into a slow section. Velocicoaster is the opposite - starts fast and then gets nearly twice as fast halfway through.
Velocicoaster has 31 seconds more from launch to break run ride time before break run than Tron does from launch to run.
Velocicoaster is also delivers more on the thrill as well and debatable but the theme as well.
But Velocicoaster and Tron are not basicaly the same ride durration as one is nearly 1/3rd longer.

I haven’t ridden Tron yet but looking at videos I’m not sure it’s comparable to Velocicoaster, Velocicoaster is a completely different level of thrill ride.
Hagrids looks like the better comparison, similar seating, similar thrill level, and a similar style of indoor/outdoor. Hagrids is much longer though, Tron is about 1 minute of ride time, Hagrids is closer to 3 minutes.

Both were built and long opened from the time Tron was announced to Tron opening too.

Hagrid's is also themed with show scenes and TRON isn't (at least for the most part).
