EPCOT Figment, well, to be replaced by Figment

I've honestly never understood it either, even though I think the original was one of the best attractions they've built. I certainly like Figment, but he was never a major draw.

I've pointed out before that (at least for me) Figment really only works well with Dreamfinder (doesn't have to be Dreamfinder specifically; but any similar character). He feels like a complementary character -- a new Imagination attraction that heavily features Figment but doesn't include some Dreamfinder-like figure to help frame Figment will probably be a miss again, although it could still easily be better than what currently exists.

I'm guessing it's just a combination of being a small purple dragon and love for how good the original ride was, although the latter obviously doesn't apply to people who never rode the original.
I never experienced the original, (I wish I had) but I loved Figment before I found out the original existed. I think it’s just that he’s a small purple dragon. Ironically, the skunk scene always bothered me; it just didn’t seem like something Figment would do. I loved Figment despite of the current ride, not because of it.

So you loved the character design, but not the character himself? If everything you know about Figment was from the current ride, how did you come to love him despite that ride? And if you never knew any other Figment, on what basis did you conclude that the skunk scene wasn't in character for him?

Not gonna lie I had a similar thought, an armchair replacement for Buzz Lightyear Spin where with the help of Dreamfinder and Figment we catch Sparks of Imagination. Highest score wins. LOL
OK that is a brilliant idea...rather than shooting things as the only game that happens on rides, collecting sparks of imagination is wonderful. I love the idea of a game that is not based in shooting or killing... Seriously! Yay!

The new lounge is in addition to existing ones.
I assume this for the short term, but they would need a replacement in place before shutting down the existing lounge, which I believe is set to run through the end of 2024 at this point (or as long as they keep extending).

This made me laugh, the dedicated audio track for "Moon Channing" didn't play at all(except for the separate audio track that plays in the main finale area):

Fun technical fact, in the main finale area, each of the Figment voice lines plays out of their own individual speaker, this is why you will mainly hear "low pitched Figment" if you are sitting in the back(though this is more due to a volume balancing issue). This stream also reveals that once the ride vehicle fully enters the 2nd part of the finale, it silences the audio in the main area.

I don't appreciate that the base of the bucket is still neon orange. Other than that, it's pretty nice, but if Disney is hoping for another Figment popcorn bucket rush I think they may be mistaken.
Personally, I think it's rather garish, which is par for Disney merchandising these days in my eyes. And dropping one (admittedly, without having held it in my hands to know how durable it feels) seems like it would shatter it into many pieces.

Think they'll have any left at the end of the festival?

Yes
And yet they haven't even made a Spaceship Earth one....Yet.
It boggles my mind that unless I've missed it the only wdw park icon to have a popcorn bucket or sipper based off of it is Typhoon Lagoon with the Miss Tilly sipper last year. Seems like a slam dunk merch line

This video Disney made for the new bucket shows that it has a button and LEDs at the bottom that flash different colors:
