Sounds like the franchise owner for Skyline is having (or had) some difficulty with their permits from the District, the opening has apparently been pushed back into November.

I'm still annoyed that Bento pulled out of their spot, and hoping that Sonic actually happens and breaks ground somewhat soon because something fast in addition to Wendy's and PDQ would be nice.

Don't see this lasting too long. Do they really think CP's will pay $9 for a single scoop cone? Maybe once.

This is like a upscale soft serve place that opened near me when I lived in Durham. We went once, spent like $40 on 3 make it your self sundaes and never went back. It closed within 4 months.

Of the things that have ever been announced for Flamingo only three seem to have backed out / canceled and those are Bento Sushi, Nick Filet, and Ovation Bistro. Plus the Speedway Gas Station and Hampton Inn plots that still might be developed (although they don't need two gas stations so hopefully that plot goes to someone else).

I predict in 5-10 years it will grow to be a second Disney Springs but will take time to develop along with the rest of Horizons West.

It's a tiny target, but it's got a full liquor store, so that's pretty neat.

Also, when kiddo was on formula at the peak of the formula shortage, they ALWAYS had his formula there in decent quantities. For that alone, it gets a pass from me.

Well the "Disney Village" in the 1970s wasn't anything special either but it grew over time. That's like saying why does anyone go to Disney Springs when the Outlet Mall is just up the street, but they do because it's "Disney". Disney has slowly started advertising it more and adding it to maps and signage. The biggest thing is they are officially promoting all the Flamingo Hotels now on their official site as "Gateway Hotels" and I would not be surprised if soon they offer the same benefits as Hotel Plaza resorts.

It still wasn't a standard shopping plaza with standard stores surrounded by massive parking lots. It started as a tourist destination. Flamingo Crossings is literally just a regular retail complex and it is not intended to be or grow into another Disney Springs type thing. If anything it is maybe a replacement for Crossroads.

Like, I can't stress this enough - there is nothing special about Flamingo Crossings. It exists only as a convenience for the new mega complexes they built for the College Program.

Missed the old crossroads shopping center that used to be near Disney Springs. Had a Taco Bell back in the day with 59 cent bean burritos. Feed a family of four for 5 dollars.

Oh the booze is the perk... and about 1/5 of the store.. hahaha

But hey, I needed bandaids and they had them. Good enough for me! ha

It would be called something other than 'Flamingo Crossing' if they wanted their guests to go there.
Also would not have been de-annexed.

This. It was built to replace crossroads to offer DVC people somewhere to get supplies “on property” as well as be a great service for programs participants.
