Maybe not at all? It just depends on what exactly they're doing out there.

If it actually is disruptive to the wedding pavilion and costs them wedding business, I imagine they'd quickly put an end to anything happening at the DVC that was causing the disruption. They make too much money off of weddings.

I can't imagine they'd make more money from the wedding pavilion than from the hotel. Also I think it's far enough away not to be much of an issue. Some wedding venues have 3 weddings in the same building at the same time and people still fork over tons of money for their space.

I wasn't saying they'd shut the hotel down -- just that they'd stop any outdoor activities that might disrupt the wedding pavilion. It's not like people would stop staying there if they no longer did some random stuff for kids outside. And they may not be planning anything like that anyways!

The construction is on the opposite side of the resort from the DVC longhouses.

And totally unrelated, but has anyone heard any rumors if this is going to be new DVC like Copper Creek, or just additional rooms to the original Poly DVC?

Disney has at times used the word expansion which would lead one to believe that it will be part of the existing Poly DVC.

When DVC announced that Big Pine Key would become DVC units, they stated upfront that that converted units would be part of the existing VCF DVC Resort. They have yet to make any such declaration about the upcoming DVC building at the Poly.

It honestly wasn’t that bad. I never heard the construction from our room. It’s so loud and busy down the pool, I don’t remember hearing construction there either We were 0% affected by this. Obviously if you are staying on that side of the resort, it will be more of an issue. But on the DVC side, I wouldn’t worry at all.

wow, I hadn't seen them use tilt-up construction like this in residential-style buildings before. Around us, this tilt-up construction of pre-formed concrete is how EVERY datacenter is built now... and they go up super quick. But every apartment building, etc has still been built more traditionally. Haven't seen this is any hotel/etc building now. Interesting...

They are following Universal's lead. Their Endless Summer resort built on top of the old Wet N Wild location used this same construction method. Panels went up super quick. I wonder how they do in high winds or seismic motion? It looks like they have weld plates imbedded into the concrete periodically to lock them together.

Not so fast. I was just reading on the DVC News site that point sales for February are the lowest in the 13 years that they have been tracking them, excluding the covid period.....

Maybe the economy uncertainty is having an effect or the high prices of a WDW vacation.

"In February 2023, 88,472 points were sold for the 11 DVC resorts at Walt Disney World. It represents a 33.2% drop compared to sales a year ago in February 2022 and a 47.1% drop compared to the average for the last 12 months."

"Disney has now sold 895,414 points, slightly more than half of the 1,779,822 points that have been assigned to the 202 Resort Studios located in the Big Pine Key building."
"Disney has now sold 3,541,721 Riviera points, or 52.6%, of the resort’s 6,739,966 points. There are still over 3 million Riviera points that Disney can sell to the general public."

With the uncertainty on new Poly sales and the DLH property not on sale yet, a slump is more than warranted. Economic factors probably are partly to blame here as well, but they are selling restricted Riviera and GF refurbs right now as their "current" properties.

DVC was never ever a good investment. DVC exists for the super DisneyParks fans and there are more if them (us?) than ever.

I personally never took the DVC plunge, but I can understand why the super DisneyParks fans go for DVC; knowing they will vacation at WDW multiple times a year.

The economy only matters for folks who have no disposable income. The super DisneyParks fan is NOT them.
