I haven’t been to either one, but they’ve both been on my list! Wife, 3 year old son and I will be staying at the Waldorf Bonnet Creek, March 21-23.

Be kind. Marginalized populations often deal with totally separate issues than being stupid. Some of which is simply lack of easy access (time off work, childcare, transportation) and some legit medical fears that the average majority person cannot quite understand.

With the exception of a few disabled people, valid medical concerns, and people who live outside city centers with no access I’m not sure they should get a pass, vaccines have been readily available for 10 months, they are free, only take a few minutes, and (at least in Las Vegas) we’ve got vaccination centers scattered across the entire city, they are literally everywhere.

If someone wants a shot they can get one, it may require walking a few blocks but I’m at the point I don’t think there’s any valid excuse anymore not to have gotten the shot.

Advocating for 100% compliance while also making excuses is counterproductive. Where there’s a will there’s a way.

I have a trip planned in March as well. Fingers crossed as this is a mom and kid trip rescheduled from 2020 - Disney announced the closure 2 or 3 days before we were set to leave.

Now it’s a party!

In some cases, rural America had the same access issues. Don’t make anyone any less selfish at this point. There has been extensive outreach by way of clinics, mobile units, and community leaders in all walks of life.

Access was a valid reason to take your time (or wait for a more convenient personal time) 6 months ago.

The reasons people are still holding out may be multifaceted on the granular level, but it still boils down to self-centeredness at this point in time.

To add though, those living paycheck to paycheck still can struggle. White rural gal I know via marriage went to get vaccine. Unexpectedly found the pharmacy closed even though scheduled. Working 3 jobs and having spouse full time too meant windows were tiny. Wound up catching covid shortly after their appointment wasn't honored. Will vaccinate after the 90 days is off though. Not all areas were addressed. Not every case is a one size fits all.

Read my post I just made... not everything is easy. Issues with medical fears are beyond just normal issues as well. We need to reach unvaccinated but wavering with compassion. The person I posted about couldn't walk blocks to find a new place. Not everything is as easy as that.

We're at PVB mid month. Husband at home. Was supposed to be in Tampa but family is currently moving. So he gets to sit at home and give my cat with allergies her meds daily while kid and I enjoy the sun (I hope)

Yep, I know waiting stinks, but that's what's there. I do agree completely. Though I also toss in that I vaccinate my kid with boosters also to help decrease chances of spread to others. So it's not just our personal risk, but risks to others. That was ingrained in my head when getting the flu shot while my mom was dying of cancer though. The other is my kid is in middle school taking high school classes for 3 of 8 classes - lessening chance of disruption is good IMO to help the kid keep his GPA up.

I am hopeful that this will be a background threat. I don't believe this is sustainable for long term. Yeah 2 years sucks but a lot of pandemics go 2-3 years. So I just wait and see myself. I do what I can to protect my loved ones and others. That's all I can do.

That didn't happen to the extent I had hoped. It may be due to the people who didn't get vaccinated, perhaps not.
In any event, the booster was mostly for me.
As for the future, well... Omicron is a positive thing in my book - certainly beats a strain that might have gone the other direction, and been both more transmittable and far more lethal.
So, yes - if this is the trend and covid becomes a seasonal flu like threat to most people, or even a common cold like threat (both of which are corona virus's) then I'll take getting vaccinated based on my personal risk.
For the record, I usually get a flu shot. (I got one the past two seasons for sure.)

Beautiful and world class service but if all out splurge , try the Four Seasons WDW near Port Orleans. Room is approx $1.5K per night in March/April but makes the Grand Floridian seem like a Sheraton.

I have no problem admitting I got vaccinated for purely selfish reasons. The fact it’s helped the community as a whole is just a pleasant side affect

I’d say my decisions was 50% to protect myself, 45% to protect my family and friends, and 5% to protect all you random crazy people .

The why is irrelevant, we just need more people to do it.

Absolutely. My comment is a generality. Like your friend or acquaintance, there are a lot of people who still “come to town” for things we take for granted in cities and large suburbs. The person you mention wants to do the right thing and got caught in a crap situation. That’s different than digging in your heels just to spite a segment of the population you might disagree with or distrust - only to the detriment of your immediate community. That’s more who I’m talking about.

I got vaccinated both shots plus boaster my daughter in law got both shots and came down with covid last night--- tested + twice with home test kit. I'm beginning to think the vaccine is not all it's cracked up to be.

Beautiful and world class service but if all out splurge , try the Four Seasons WDW near Port Orleans. Room is approx $1.5K per night in March/April but makes the Grand Floridian seem like a Sheraton.

It’s on my bucket list. I have Diamond status with Hilton and primarily use points for our stays at the Waldorf BC. The perks and service are top notch.

The flu and the common cold are not both coronaviruses. The flu is caused by influenza viruses. The common cold is caused by a variety of viruses included a few coronaviruses, rhinoviruses (the most common cause) and others.

The GF is kind of more like a granny style Hilton IMO. If we didn't have DVC the 4 Seasons would be on my list for sure. It looks so lovely from what my friends have shown me in pics (sadly our trips never coincide to visit in person). Disney could take a hint or 12 from some real high end places.

I'm a flu shot person since my mom so that's always on my list. So if it comes to more flu like, I'll likely still do it in the future. But I don't even get on people who don't boost, so I won't judge. I might ask out of curiosity, but I really don't care enough if it comes to that.

Family by marriage in this case. They did fear based on misinformation they had. We talked for months about it and in the end they were going to do it. Just got the short end of the stick and now they are pro vaccine for sure and telling their spouse to stfu and get it. Luckily they were all okay.

Again you are luckier if you don't have barriers. I want so many to be vaccinated but I do understand reasons different from my own. Being on a disney forum likely means many of us do not have issues some remaining face financially. The rest of the barriers are things we cannot help. Granted I am not as forgiving of the flat out selfish people but I do want to help all overcome if they can. Some are just way harder.

Sorry to hear that. Hopefully the booster shot keeps you safe. I know it did for many families. Hope your DIL is okay and dealing with more mild. If so, then the shots did their job.

Coronaviruses do indeed cause common colds. Covid is just a bear of one. If covid can become more lamb like - like its distant cousins then I agree 100% with the poster. Even if it can be on flu levels normally I agree as well.
