Florida hospitalization still dropping quite fast, dropped over 1000 in the last week alone and should be under 2020 numbers in a week or so and below June levels in about 2 weeks. Orange county on track to be under 5% in about two weeks time.

Gonna be real interesting to see if Disney drops the indoor mask mandate when it does or if they decide to wait it out till the new year.

Personally I hope Disney keeps the indoor mask requirement until the US as a whole gets down to less than 5 cases per 100k. This pandemic still has a ways to go before it is over and since WDW is not solely dependent on locals but has customers from all over the US and soon to be around the world it is better to be cautious and not take too many chances. I wore a mask in September while indoors and even outdoors when we were too close to others. It is always better to be safe and protect yourself.

is NJ Transit will removing mask mandate as masks and social distancing for trains and buses as Amtrak does too in next year by Spring 2022?

Nobody knows when those regulations will be lifted but NY/NJ will be among the last to remove them for public transportation IMHO

Florida continues its decline of Covid19 cases. According to the Sentinel, Florida reported today that their average is down to 3,854 cases a day so it should be reported as 18 per 100k tomorrow in the NY Times.

Personally I hope Disney keeps the indoor mask requirement until the US as a whole gets down to less than 5 cases per 100k. This pandemic still has a ways to go before it is over and since WDW is not solely dependent on locals but has customers from all over the US and soon to be around the world it is better to be cautious and not take too many chances. I wore a mask in September while indoors and even outdoors when we were too close to others. It is always better to be safe and protect yourself.

I hate masks (they are hot and my glasses are always fogging up) but we’ve been to DL with indoor masks several times now and I think it’s a good compromise, you can escape the discomfort while outside but it still provides added protection in indoor spaces where they have the biggest impact. Win/win.

Disney has always followed the CDC guidelines but I won’t be surprised if the indoor masks stick around even after the CDC thresholds are reached, I also won’t be surprised if they disappear the day the CDC guidelines say they are no longer needed.

Well... that's good for FL right now. But, Florida's 7-day rate isn't too much significantly different than the top 10 states.

You dont think our larger than average elderly cohort has anything to do with that? It makes logical sense. Older people are by far and away the largest group of deaths. Places with more elderly = more death (assuming all else is equal)

Wife's hospital if full up. 86% of covid beds are age 75+. Remaining are 60+

Only slightly more than half of hospitalizations are 60+ in FL.

You two should perhaps check some data before spouting off wild theories or relying on a sample of one person.

97% of people 65+ in FL have had at least one dose of a vaccine, which is why the elderly aren't dominating hospitalizations anymore.

"High" is defined by the CDC where the rolling positivity rate is over 10%. Orange Co has been below that for a week or two now. Yet masks remain.

If I had to guess, the masks at WDW will remain till Spring, and that's IF nothing else comes along and the cases shoot up again. I don't believe WDW wants to go back and forth with the masks, that's why I think they'll wait till Spring just to make sure. Once they drop them I want to think they want them gone for good.

The CDC guidance you cited is only appli able to those fully vaccinated. A lot of Disney's guests are too young. The honor system doesn't work. FL doesn't allow a business to require proof of vaccination.

Florida is now at 18 and is the 4th best state. California is at 16 as end is the second lowest. Now, because of the size of California and Florida, I never expected either one to be the lowest but since they are both within striking distance of the number one state, Connecticut, is it actually possible that these 2 states could become number 1 and 2? That would be great news for both Disney and Universal.

Yeah, I certainly wouldn't make excuses for the dad behaving like a jerk, however, not knowing the situation, it's tough to pass judgement. Could be he cannot afford to stay home and watch his child while quarantining, could be a thousand other things that lead to him being cranky pants. who knows
