The Imagination Pavilion:
A New Little Spark...

Here at Sklaronah, we were challenged with finding a replacement for the Imagination Pavilion and current ride. As a pavilion literally titled "Imagination!", this was the perfect way for us to create a concept that the pavilion so rightfully deserves- Something fun, something creative, and something imaginative. Taking this and running, we were able to finally fully flesh out the Imagination Pavilion with 2 rides, an interactive attraction, a gift shop and a restaurant. Like the Land pavilion, it now has a more complete and finished feel and experience to it, except here it is not all under one roof, but scattered about around the outside under the sunlight, beautiful Epcot gardens, and ponds/fountains. For a better picture of this land, take a look at the map:

Now, continue reading, as we are sure that you will have one exciting time exploring and journeying into Imagination!

------------------------

Figment's Dream Catchers

The Imagination Pavilion at Epcot has always been the most child-like. Figment and DreamFinder remain classic characters, but especially after the original attraction was continually re-done in poor ways the draw to JII became less and less significant, especially for the teen-aged crowd who would rather be on Test Track or Mission Space...or anywhere besides Epcot for that matter. It's true, the whimsical nature and "cartoon" characters of the Imagination pavilion don't exactly jump out as something the teen audience would rush out to experience.

With this in mind, we set out to create a new addition to the pavilion which, while maintaining all the charm and style of the original attraction, would also up the ante in the thrill department and provide an experience that's equally as alluring to children as it is to people wanting something with a little more edge to it. We present to you Figment's Dream Catchers...The new thrill ride coming soon to the Imagination Pavilion...

Entering the attraction, the first thing guests come to is a transitional tunnel. It's a bit like the iconic "rainbow tunnel" but instead of technicolor images guests see faint glimpses of reds, greens, and yellows all within a mostly black backdrop. Moving along, guests continue going through this strange hallway until we find ourselves in a laboratory at the center of the queue.

On an operating table guests circle their way around in this room lies Figment, completely asleep. Hovering above Figment is a Pepper's Ghost "transparent" Figment which acts as his dream-self. Dream Figment explains that all the guests are now subjects in a new experiment to test the limits of what people can accomplish with their imaginations when they dream.

This is the big "hook" of the attraction. Figment's Dream Catchers aims to be a truly immersive journey into the wide world of lucid dreaming. Unlike Inception there's no "limbo", trains popping out of nowhere, or hired gunmen. Instead we are treated to a full blown vision of what the subconscious "dreaming" mind would visually look like.

Dream Figment explains that the hallway we just went through is what the eye sees underneath the eyelids as we all dream. This is called REM (rapid eye movement) and it's the last thing everyone physically sees before they enter their own private dream lands going to sleep every night.

On a screen at the far end of the room we see blueprints for the "Dream Catchers", our eventual ride vehicle. The technology of the Dream Catchers combines the trackless system of Pooh's Honey Hunt with the "flying" tech of Peter Pan's Flight. There will be a metal arch over the vehicle which can attach itself to the ceiling for the ride's brief but memorable flying sequences. The actual cars seat six a piece and look something like this...

art_pokemonsnap_zeroone.jpg

Continuing down the queue, we come to the boarding area which looks like an odd sheep farm. There is a barn literally sticking out from the wall in a very surreal sort of way. Cardboard cut-outs of cartoon sheep line the walls as we wait to be boarded. Getting strapped into our Dream Catcher vehicles, we then proceed down the "farm" into a hallway where projected sheep are jumping over us. Be sure to try to count the as we enter the wild world of your dream's Imagination!

Continuing down the stretch of farm land, we come upon a forced perspective greenhouse that is meant to look much larger than it actually is, but in a very obvious kind of way. A hang glider on an overhead track then comes rushing past us and we hear a distorted version of the Soarin' theme for a brief moment...at least we think it was the Soarin' theme...

Rounding the corner, we come into a large room which serves as the main "arena" in which the rest of the attraction is based around. In the center is a structure that looks like Spaceship Earth, except it's entirely made of glass just like the iconic JII pyramids. If you're lucky you can spot a suspended "Dream Catcher" vehicle full of riders flying right through the center of the sphere in a hidden hole. This is part of the attraction's eventual finale.

Next to the backwards Spaceship Earth is a pair of pyramids made out of SE-looking material. Basically we have SE in the form of the JII pyramids and JII in the form of the Spaceship Earth golfball. Familiar sights to those visiting Epcot...thrown completely out of whack my the properties of the dream world we have just entered.

We make our way in between the two pyramids to see that the tips of both of them begin start shaking in a very odd way. Suddenly, it appears as it the pyramids start coming apart and reattaching themselves in midair. This then transitions us into an odd looking city block which contains a series of buildings that are distorting their properties in similar unusual ways. Structures are built to "shrink" and then expand, windows appear and disappear, and entire sideways come apart from the ground and start twisting in strange ways. All part of the dream-like atmosphere this attraction is creating.

We then find ourselves in a dome shaped room. Projected onto the dome are various surreal blotches of color to mess with our perspective. Continually popping up as we circle track-less around the ride making various spins are strange cartoon-ish creatures coming straight from our imaginations. They take on an appearance vaguely like something out of the Sea of Monsters from the "Yellow Submarine" movie.

266090_1247256371091_full.jpg

Continuing out of the dome, we go down a long darkened hallway. Suddenly to our surprise the room lightens and we see we are inside of a cartoon human mouth. A giant "tongue" is below us and to the sides and above our heads are rows of teeth. This stretch goes on for far longer than what you'd imagine a regular human's mouth would last which adds to the otherworldly quality.

As you continue down you notice the teeth start to fall from their sockets. On the bottom row they pop out or are already missing. On the top row they start to fall. This is a reference to the concept of teeth falling out in your dreams, which is one of the most famous reoccurring nightmares.

As we reach the end of the "mouth", our Dream Catcher vehicle gets attached to an elevator pulley and we are raised up several stories. Continuing forward we see a series of mirrors. Suddenly the room starts to shake violently and the mirrors begin to crack as we notice our reflections start to take on all sorts of strange qualities via projection effects. This is a reference to the theory that encountering your "dream-self" within your own dream will cause it the scene to implode into itself.

Suddenly we find ourselves in a darkened room and the vehicle stops in a dramatic fashion and stays still for several lingering seconds. The actual vehicle starts to shake rapidly and we are at a loss for how to control it. This is meant to simulate sleep paralysis, a symptom in which your mind wants to wake up but your body won't let you.

Continuing down the dark stretch we hear a very obvious backwards distorted version of the Journey Into Imagination theme. Unlike the faint Soarin' theme we heard earlier, this one comes in clear as a bell. The room begins to dimly light up and we see we are in an attic.

Music boxes of all shapes and sizes are stacked on top of each other, each one pumping out the backwards JII theme in their own unique, creepy ways. This is obviously the nightmare portion of our dream.

In the corner of the room where hear grunts and roars of what sounds like a ferocious creature. Turning the corner, we are startled to see a realistic looking, fierce and untamed purple dragon lunging at us in attack position. How do we escape this ordeal with the terrifying "nightmare" version of Figment? We take flight!

The finale of the attraction is an extended suspended roller coaster segment meant to simulate flying in a dream...one of the ultimate escapist fantasies. After escaping from the literal "Figment" of your nightmares, you fly over the tops of what looks like the distorted city block from the beginning of the attraction. Once again the scale of the various buildings are shrinking and expanding at will.

We go through a large helix element picking up speed before finally entering back through the "mirror Epcot" segment of the attraction, flying on the ceiling of that room. Bracing ourselves, we careen through the very hidden hole in the center of the glass Spaceship Earth, accompanied by a loud sound effect of glass smashing.

Coming back down to ground level and going through a section of brakes, the final scene is an exhausted looking Figment in his usual cheery cartoon form to wash our pallets of the nightmare Figment from earlier. He appears to have just woken up from the dream, but to add to the confusion he is surrounded by the sheep from the loading area! Continuing back down we exit the vehicle on a second level above said room before the Dream Catchers are lowered back down for the next batch of visitors.

Continuing down another REM simulation hallway, guests reach the end of the attraction which connects out to the "Imageworks" section of the Imagination Pavilion.

Inspiration Gardens Canal Boats

To complement our E-ticket attraction as part of the Imagination Pavilion expansion will be a more tame and relaxing attraction that provides some much needed kinetic energy to the pavilion as well as continue to run with the Imagination theme. The ride will be centered around the theme of creating ideas, with the Inspiration Gardens themselves being the main part of the attraction as well as the theming at the entrance of the pavilion. Making a triumphant return will be a new Dreamfinder as the "host" of the attraction, showing up in the queue and dark ride sections of the attraction and narrating some of the sights we will come across in the outdoor portion of the ride (Figment will just be hidden in various parts of the ride and make a cameo in the finale).

The Queue:
Beginning our Imagination experience will be a queue themed to Dreamport, where science and fantasy combine to show us how the imagination works and how we can use it. Taking a bit of inspiration from the current JII, the first few rooms are dedicated to the senses (with the touch room being the most interactive, allowing guest to feel various objects and try to feel what it is before seeing what it is they are actually touching) before entering Dreamfinder's Laboratory. This will be where guest will first encounter the Dreamfinder himself as he explains what he has invited us here for (which is to help him out with a new invention of his, "the Dream Boat" which is like a boat version of his Dream Mobile, by exploring the inspiration gardens so he can use our ideas to finish his boat). Afterwards, we are ushered into the loading room to start our journey.

The Vehicles:
The ride vehicles for this attraction will designed like the boats for Small World and Pirates, but will actually use trackless technology to allow for guest to travel to different locations on different trips since it doesn't follow and exact path each time. The look and seating of the boats will match those of the boats in DL's Small World, but with a more vibrant color and paint scheme on the front and sides of the boat

The Ride:
After exiting the Dreamport, guest will cross under a pathway bridge to enter the Inspiration Gardens, and fantasy gardens where you will encounter peculiar sights that will hopefully spark guests' imaginations (most of them involving water, like an inverse waterfall and the Spark Fountain near the entrance to the land). The gardens themselves will be very luscious with a variety of plants and normal and odd angles, making it one of the more beautiful places to see in the entire park. Whenever boats approach a specific sight (which all of them will contain a hidden figment), Dreamfinder's voice will come out from it providing a quick explanation of what the guest are seeing. During the hotter seasons, hidden misters will cool down guest in various areas of the gardens to give them a break from the heat. After spending roughly 3-5 minutes in the gardens, the boats will travel back to the Dreamport and find a vacuum tube "absorbing our ideas" until we enter a room with a finished Dream Boat and Dreamfinder on it. He thanks us for helping him complete the boat before telling us a little bit about imagination before launching into a version of "One Little Spark" and creating Figment. When we get to the end, they invite us to go on and use our mastered imaginations at the Imageworks (though there will be a separate exit for those who wish to not go there) through a hall that leads into the same Rainbow Tunnel as Figment's Dream Catcher, and thus concluding our little journey into imagination

Imageworks

Part of the Imagination refurbishment is a complete "re-boot" of a classic component to the pavilion and Epcot itself- Imageworks. Imageworks is a unique, interactive attraction in the Imagination pavilion filled with different games, immersion and other activities for the whole family. It can be accessed through it's own entrance and gift shop, or by exiting the new "Figment's Dream Catcher". Now, we invite you to read along the many new exciting ways to explore your Imagination!

When you first exit "Figment's Dream Catcher", you are on the second floor of the building, up inside the old and once loved section of the pavilion that has been neglected and closed off to the public for years. This space is now finally being put to good use, as a part of the refurbished Imageworks. One element that is dearly missed and was a fan favorite is the Rainbow Tunnel. This is now used as the entrance to Imageworks as the imaginative tunnel transporting you to this place of creativity.
ima894016LARGE.jpg

Exiting this tunnel puts you in the grand center of the upstairs portion of the attraction, familiar to many. In this grand area stands the giant artistic statue that was once found here, with a staircase to the bottom level surrounding it, except now with a more colorful feel to it. Also in this area is a small coffee and snack shop and various greenery and theming/flags scattered about, but they all rest inside the beautiful pyramid that represents the pavilion. It has a wonderful view of the rest of the park from up above, and this brilliant piece of architecture even has rainbow spot lights shot up to give the pyramid a new glowing effect from the inside too.

But this isn't all. When you first come downstairs (Or going up, depending on whether or not you are entering Imageworks from the entrance or exit of "Figment's Dream Catcher") you will find yourself in the cleverly themed little gift shop, the mostly white and lots of design filled room, as if it is waiting for creativity to go wild. Just past the gift shop is the downstairs portion of Imageworks. While some may say it is currently just a shell of its former self, here it is just another exciting portion of the greater attraction. It will remain mostly unchanged from how it stands now, except with some new/refurbished activities.

Now, for a description of some of these activities inside of Imageworks:
-Downstairs, many favorites will stay, such as the Stepping Tones, Create a Figment, now with more improvements (below), and Figment's Melody Makers. Also staying will be general interactive lights and optical illusion posters.

-Upstairs, off of the main area, one exhibit will include special kaleidoscopes, where guests can look through and play with to see different colorful worlds, and if you twist it the right way, you can maybe even see special images that nod to classic figures like Figment and Dreamfinder!

-Upstairs will also include the return of two classic Imageworks attractions, these being the Voice Activated Lumia (A large sphere that reacted with color to voices/sounds) and Figment's Coloring Book (Where guests can color in blank could with paint shooters, a very cool effect, now improved with modern technology).

-Another new feature, upstairs, is an exciting activity that has a similar name to the nearby attraction, called "Figment's Dream Playground". Using new projection technology in a larger and darker room with smoke covering the floor (creating the illusion of dreams being in the room), families can play around as different "adventures" are projected into the air. These can include riding a pirate ship, riding a dragon, or flying a blimp! Motion/touch sensors will pick up when someone comes near one of these, and suddenly the whole room becomes this one adventure, and with convincing projection effects, it feels like you have placed in the adventure! This is just another way Imageworks triggers your imagination!

-Create-a-Toon is exactly what you are thinking; you get to create your very own cartoon! Animated in the classic style, guests will be able to pick and choose certain characters and settings from both the parks and the movies, along with a plot from a touch screen. Then, once completed, you can watch a 30 second teaser trailer of it, with the opinion to buy the complete 15 minute short. Costs range from $9.99 for a digital copy, $14.99 for a DVD copy, $19.99 for Blu Ray, and you can add on a Digital Copy to either a DVD or a Blu Ray for an addition $5.

-
Create a Figment: This is a massive alteration to the existing Create a Figment, which is a group of touch screens where you design your own Figment and can email the picture to you. Although the general premise remains the same, it has been immensely plussed, fully capitalizing on the My Magic+ technology.

In the Park- Right in the heart of the new and improved Imageworks, Create a Figment will be a must do on your visit to the pavilion. Once you get out of the line (yes, there is a line. It is expected to be very popular with both the young and old), you reach a touch screen, where a familiar fellow will guide you along. First, you start with the base. It does not have to be a dragon like Figment, it is your imagination, after all. There are over 20 bases to choose from, or you can create your own! You would edit the arms, legs, and core. Then, you would go about adding colors, horns, sounds, anything you can imagine. Once you are done, you will be given the option of e-mailing the design to either yourself or family/friend, buying a stuffed animal version (can be generic sized or large), or both. The cost of a stuffed animal ranges from $19.99 to $99.99, depending on features and size. Obviously, you can not get your creation immediately, so after paying at your touch screen (accepts cash, credit cards, and gift cards), you receive a receipt with an expected arrival date of your new friend. The expected wait will be around 1 month due to demand and that these are high quality items, and they will take time to make, and won't be as easy as a generic Mickey doll. On the date you receive it, you will receive a "cage" with your own Figment inside! One special feature is that on a collar, your creation will have a code, which can activate your pal on a brand new website a la Webkinz, called www.FigmentsFriends.com. It will be a large online community where you can chat with fellow Disney fans, take care of your pet, and play fun games!
Before You Go- Another option is to get your Figment so you can have him on your trip. Using My Disney Experience, you will be able to link him with your MM+ account and have him interact with its surroundings in the parks. By inserting an RFID chip inside, it will light up, tell you a neat fact, and pretty be the Pal Mickey that works. Besides that, it is the same as one you would buy in Imageworks.

The Dreamport

imagination.jpg

This innovative restaurant focuses on presenting a unique dining experience. The restaurant is located in a smaller building constructed between the Imagination and Land pavilions and topped with a smaller glass pyramid to match the adjoining pavilion.

Guests may enter the restaurant through an exterior entrance, and upon entry are treated to a colorful experience.

The restaurant starts off at the top of each hour with black and white accented walls, which, using projection techniques, will shift between the colors of the rainbow throughout your meal, creating a kaleidoscope experience.

Once seated, Guests will be issued tablet computers which serve as their menu. Here they will be presented with the opportunity to design their own dishes!

Guests will meet an Animated Chef Figment on their Tablet who will guide them through designing their meals. The program begins by asking some basic dietary considerations (allergies, preferences, etc.), and then guides guests towards certain base dishes which they may then "enhance" as they see fit.

10906537.jpg

For example, lets say you enjoy steak. The New York Strip may be topped with your choice of standard toppings (like a mushroom sauce) which can then be enhanced with further options.

In addition, many of the options will take advantage of the latest gastronomic techniques, such as making ice cream with dry ice.

Younger children will be provided with a simplified version of this on a drop protected tabled to allow them to participate in the experience without having as many choices as adults or older children.

Meal packages are a flat cost per course, per person. Each person may decide how many courses they wish to order from Appetizers, Entrees and Desserts, and are free to share their meals with others (tasting plates will be provided and sharing encouraged!).

Guests who do not wish to be "creative" with their meals may choose from a group of chef-designed menu options.

Thoughts and Inspiration

This is a new additional gift shop added to the area along with the one inside of Imageworks. It is smaller, and it features one of a kind Figment pins and vinylmations for collecting and trading, as well as clever posters, figurines, and clothing accessories. Get a thoughtful, inspired gift here for the family to remember their journey to Imagination!

--------------------

Welcome back from your journey, everyone! You have seen all that creativity has to offer, and discovered how your Imagination can be free, exciting, and mystifying. We, at Sklaronah, hope you enjoyed this presentation and your Imagination Pavilion experience. Thank you!

Episode 4 Immunity Challenge : A New Little Spark

From the brains of Team Baxtanu comes the all new and improved Imagination Pavilion! This upgraded pavilion not only acquired a new ride, but a new 3D show too. What's this? Looks like even Image Works got some love, but it looks like Figment and Dream Finder were left out of the fun again. Not to worry I'm sure your all going to love our new characters! So buckle up as we head into the Imagination Pavilion!

Journey into the Brain –
Queue:

Guests enter the new Imagination Pavilion Building. This new queue will have you wind through the lobby. This lobby will have a rotating model of our solar system attached to the ceiling. Guests will be able to spot replicas fine art such as statues, vases and paintings(The statues and vases will be in display cases, and the paintings will be out of reach). Some of staff swore that they all move well you the guest will be the judge of that. While queuing in the lobby guests will be able to hear classical music playing. Once guests are near the entrance into the hallway of the lab they will be able to spot a robot dragon named FEG-MINT controlling the scanner to be allowed clearance into the labs. If guests would smell FEG-MINT he would smell like burnt mint how odd. While guests wait to be scanned FEG-MINT will be saying some comedic lines to entertain guests. Once guests past the clearance to make sure there no harm to the brain they will enter the hallway. Guests will be able to hear a ticked off secretary paging other scientists and telling them comedic sounding problems. The hallway is decorated with odd looking photos and several of the professor’s doors. Yet the most interesting thing is the corkboard (Cast members will be allowed to put notes on here as long as they are not offensive. This corkboard will be out of reach of guests.) There is one interesting new clipping here however about a man called The Dream Founder who apparently founded this company. Who knew? Guests will then be loaded into their ride vehicle.

Room 1:

Guests enter the shrinking room were the find a scientist to the left of a machine which is following your vehicles movements. The rest of the room is rather dark, but you can see blueprints for odd looking machines even FEG-MINT and this strange contraption is there. As the doors close behind you the scientist begins to speak to you and explains that this is a Shrinking Machine which will turn you into the size of a cell to enter and study his brain to be exact. As the machine shoots its shrink laser at you smoke will come out from around the machine, and the vehicles will start to spin signifying the shrinking. Guests will soon see the scientist and machine have disappeared, or have they? Guests will also see an illumined ear which must be the scientist’s guests soon enter the ear and into the brain they end up in.

Room 2:

Guests will enter to see many bookshelves lined with books some with barely readable titles some that are titled Vacation Trip 1983, The Purple Dragon That Could, 20,000 Leagues Into the Brain, and many more books that are either references to things you can find in EPCOT or a play on words.

Room 3:

Guests then turn a corner as they see giant chess pieces, but some are missing. Riders will over hear some command as their vehicle zooms to that position. This part will be randomized in where the vehicles move and who wins, but it’s always lasts 4 quick turns. As soon as guests end their game they all head into the next room.

Chess.JPG

Room 4:

Guests will enter a room with test tubes going everywhere of all different colors some are even bubbling (by sound), but be warned it looks one of the test tubes have broken open and the gases are leaking out. Guests will be able to smell a rotten smell of a skunk? As they get hit by a soothing and calming mist as guests pass by said tubes. Before entering the next room guests will see a chalk board with self-writing

Room 5:

Guests will enter a room with replicas of famous sculptures, and paintings. Here you can see a very green looking character wearing many different pieces of grey and beige matching clothing.

Logic: Ah welcome I’ve been expecting all of you I hope you’ve found your journey safe into the brain, but I think it’s time for you to go back now.

Guests will hear cans fall as something zips about the room changing color (this will be projected) it will finally stop by crashing into the head of a statue by doing so smoke comes out of the statue’s head. Logic’s mouth will be open wide in astonishment while muttering no. Art will pop out of the statues head looking around and changing colors and patterns in front of a guest very eye! (Art will be an animatronic while the changing colors will be projections)

Art: Boo Logic! You didn’t even sent them to my area! All they saw was smarty panty stuff.

Logic: So? That’s all anyone needs anyways!

Art: What no! You need imagination like I’ve told you! Come on repeat after me I-M-A-G-I-N-A-T-I-O-N! Imagination! (Pom-Poms will appear out of nowhere and start waving about in that part) Come on let’s go everyone I’ll show you! You too logic!

Logic: *sigh* Fine we’ll go.

Art then starts clapping happily.

Room 6:

Guests will enter a room where there will be self-playing instruments playing a new original song which will include something that sounds familiar to One Little Spark meets Captain EO’s score meets Honey I Shrunk the Audience’s score that meets Magic Journey’s Score, and that finally meets this attractions new original song. The instruments located in this room look very ornate or very odd with curves, bends and upside down pieces. Guests will see Art jumping about the room again by projections while singing the new original song. Logic will be animatronic hitting his head against a pipe organ.

mystic-manor-instrument-room-M.jpg

(Monkey not included sorry! - Art)

Room 7:

Guests will see Art making pieces of art as all the things in this room get splattered by paint(the splattering is by projections), and even Logic has been painting…math equations. And he’s sort of angry too I mean he keeps getting hit by paint, and so does his painting of math!

Room 8:

Guests enter a room where things are just casually floating in the air while some other things are on the ground being in the style of topsy-turvy. Guests will pass by some cool and interesting to look at scenes in this room such as Art ‘swimming’ around the room. And even Logic is smiling a little as he gently floats in the air.

627301c4-f0a0-11e0-aec8-00144feab49a.img

Room 9:

Logic: I’ve never realized how fun this “imagination” thing is! Perhaps I’ll do this more often?

Art: I’ll knew you’ll like it, and you too all of you! Why it just makes me want to sing!

Logic & Art start to sing this attractions new original song as the room is revealed to be a combination of Logic’s favorite things such as chess, chemistry, and reading. As well as Art’ favorite things such as art, musical instruments, and Imagination!

Room 10:

Guests enter a dark room and suddenly see a laser and smoke flashing as they spin about! Lights will come on to reveal the scientist and his machine as well as the unloading station.

Scientist: Thank you for visiting my brain, and I hope you did enjoy, but now I have a strange song stuck in my head and a headache to go along with it. I must bid you farewell on your journey. Oh well you will be guided by my assistants to ImageWorks. Come again!

ImageWorks
ImageWorks will be reworked to better fit with the new theme of the Imagination Pavilion. New Sections will be devoted to both logical and artistic sides with many different activities each. The Artistic side will be more closely related to the current Imageworks where Art encourages guests to express their creativity through different activities. Some of these include:

Musical Floor - The floor plays different notes based on the color and shape of the tile that you step on.

Create Art & Logic - Guests can create there own Art and Logic masks with different coloring tools to wear around the park and take home.

Life Drawings - Guest make different drawings on the large touch screen walls. After they are done with them the drawings then come to life and interact with the guest before bouncing off screen

The Logic section of ImageWorks is devoted to critical thinking and problem solving. Some activities in this section include

Games - Play your friends in several different games like Chess and Checkers to exercise your critical thinking skills

Leaning Tower - Put together the tallest tower you can before it becomes unstable and falls over.

Trivia - Grab a game console and compete with others to be the master of Trivia

Before guests exit they will come through a new gift shop that sells different games, crafting supplies and merchandise themed to the new ride with Art and Logic. It also contains creative gifts like create a tee and customized merch.

Music Evolved
This new show replacing the dated Captain EO will be hosted by the classic Preforming Arts Masks. One who will always be crying while he speaks, and the other laughing while he speaks. This 3D production will involve classical music. These songs will be given animated visuals similar to what Fantasia does. These songs will have the objects come at you as you wear your opera glasses and watch the performance! Each segment is introduced to you by the masks.
pic234big.jpg
Songs Included :
  • William Tell Overture - Will be showing a cowboy riding his horse to save his girlfriend from bandits. (Part A)
  • Minuet in G Major - This will show a quick love story in Spain were there are some characters doing the tango to this music. An evil character swoops in and take the main girl to tango away with. The hero goes after them and after the villain and girl tango in unlikely places, and the hero falls into comedic places he gets the girl back! (Part A)
  • Ode to Joy - Accompanying this song will be a horse chase, and a sword battle on a cliff overlooking a forest. At the end the hero wins and falls to his knees while he looks to the inspiring sun rise.
Guest are thanked for coming to view the performance and to come again soon by the masks.

Critiques for Episode 4: Immunity Challenge
A New Little Spark
!

This week, your task was to reimagine the wonderful yet dated Imagination Pavillion, including a redo of JII. Both concepts had their strength and weakness, but overall, both tribes made intriguing pavillion that I would personally love to experience! I'll try to break each proposal down piece by piece.

Since Sklaronah posted first, I'll start with them.
Figment's Dream Catchers:

  • I agree with your point that Imagination isn't very attractive to teenagers, and I like how your concept finds a balance that meets all guests' needs from an attraction. You accomplish in a way that seemed cohesive, good job there.
  • Dream Figment sounds like a great idea, but he isn't mentioned a lot until the Nightmare scene. Does he follow guys through the experience?
  • Your ride vehicle doesn't seem very safe, just based on what was discussed. I wish there was more elaboration, but it seems like a great concept.
  • The transition from OR to sheep farm seems kinda rough, however, it is a very nice touch. :)
  • Playing around with Epcot for the beginning is an idea I find logical; I'm confused about the city block, it just doesn't seem to fit.
  • As the features of the buildings are changing, I like the transition into the "Yellow Submarine"-like scene. I'm not sure what is really in it.
  • The teeth falling out is a great touch and keeps the same theme running. For that matter, the whole scene almost gives me chills the more and more I think about it! Great job here!
  • The escape scene kind of lacks content, I wish there was more things, for a lack of better words, "imaginative".
  • I was hoping for a grander finale that packed an extra punch, but it wasn't there.

Inspiration Gardens Canal Boats

  • My only fear about the use of Dreamfinder was that the plots would be too much like the original. The Canal Boats isn't, but brings Dreamfinder into play just as well.
  • Love the queue and how playing with senses will get guests into the mood.
  • I don't see a clear plot here, it feels like almost a walk-through but a dark-ride. With that being said, what you guys do describe does seem worthy of sparking guests' imaginations.
  • Bringing the jumping fountains into play was great, as well as the misters.

Imageworks:

A few experiences that caught my eye were...

  • Create-a-Toon
  • The new Create a Figment
  • the "Dream Playground"

Those three really would get guests involved and using their heads, especially the Playground, which I feel would definitely shape up to be a Dumbo, with kids just wanting to come back and back! :D

Dreamport and Thoughts and Inspiration:

  • Figment acting as chef looks fun, and gets designing their meals is just what a restaurant here would need!
  • I like that you guys touched on all guests and what they'd want, especially since young guests could maybe have a hard time.
  • The gift shop adds a nice final experience to the pavillion.

The second concept this episode was Baxtanu.

Journey through the Brain:

  • I love the fan-service through FEG-MINT and the Dream Founder. I'm unsure though if guests would feel the same way in regards to FEG-MINT and with him being a robot.
  • You guys had a great queue, and I really am fond of the idea of the Cast Members interacting directly and indirectly with guests.
  • I don't know if guests would like riding in a brain or not... :p The idea of shrinking down is a great idea though!
  • Room 2 is a good transition.
  • The chess scene seems like such a good idea, as well as the laboratory (was it a lab or something different?), all ending with the intro of Logic and Art.
  • These two characters' relationship is classic Disney, but also seems like something kids now-a-days would find very funny! Both Logic and Art (and the two sides they exhibit) I feel will keeps guests very interested. I giggled a little reading the Pom-Pom bit, kudos to whoever wrote the dialogue!
  • I'm very confused as to what the theme sounds like for Room 6. The scene, on the other hand, is nice.
  • Scenes 7 and 8 sound like they came right out the original. I like how Logic really has a story.
  • I wish you guys in some way showcased the new song with lyrics or something along those lines.
  • The finale looks great, but I looked for more description here. A proper send-off is there with the scientist at the end.
Imageworks:

Experiences that caught my eye here were...

  • Musical Floor
  • Life Drawings
  • Leaning Tower
I like the two sections for Logic and Art, but I really wish you guys described more about what made these experiences unique, especially for things like Leaning Tower and the mask-masking activity.

Music Evolved:

  • Just like with Logic and Art, I like the Performing Arts masks hosting as a pair.
  • The first two scenes seem very similar.
  • I am a fan of classical music, as it can be very inspiring. But it don't know if younger guests would hold interest in the show with that as the soundtracked.
  • The show, while it sounds great in theory, doesn't seem to scream imagination with just 3-D. Next time around, remember dialogue can make the difference, and even a few lines can add so much to a show.

Those are my critiques for this challenge! RM and I will discuss and make our final decision. Feel free to ask questions for clarification or if I missed anything.

Episode 4 Immunity Challenge Results

Baxtanu

Sklaronah

I can't stress how hard the decision was this time around. While Sklaronah had more to compose a real pavillion, the plots of the two rides didn't hold together for me. Baxtanu had one ride that I felt did the job, and lifted the whole proposal because of it.

Congrats to the winning tribe on winning immunity!

Episode 5 Immunity Challenge
A Big Birthday Bash

This week, we're not in one park, we'll be in all of them.
Once again, immunity is back up for grabs.

5377680243_617c66f295.jpg

For this challenge, you must create a campaign/celebration for Walt Disney World's 50th Birthday. But... RM, you ask... That's still a good 6-ish years away! Well, this week, you'll be creating a campaign that is 6 years in advance. This means that, all current projects (like Avatarland and the hub redesign) will be completed and projects that are currently being planned (the DHS redo) are already being built. You may include whatever you want in your celebration. However, your proposal must have 4 distinct sections based on new offerings that will be coming to Walt Disney World.

- Attractions (either brand-new or completely refurbished)
- Entertainment (either brand or an updated show)
- Decor
- Specialty Dining

In addition, your celebration must have an over-arching theme and have a slogan that connects to the entire celebration. For inspiration, look at the Disneyland Diamond Celebration that kicks off this May.

Your submission must be turned in by Friday, February 20, 2015 at 8:00 PM EST. You must create your concept in your team PM that @MA Screamin' and I will watch over. In addition, your proposal must include no more than 15 images and no less than 5 sentences.

Team Sklaronah (@tcool, @TheOriginalTiki, @Zweiland, @InfiniteRightEar97) Present...

The Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary; Forever and a Day will be by far the biggest celebration ever seen at the resort. For the 50th birthday, we at Team Sklaronah have added new additions and enanchements all across the "World" that celebrate WDW's long lasting legacy. While most of the additions will go on to be permanent fixtures, there will be a giveaway which will grant 50 lucky guests over the celebration's kick-off summer special prizes.

During the celebration for the 50th we'll be doing something special. To make your visit bring good memories for forever and a day. The numbers of winners would be based on the capacity of the ride being ridden, so that an equal number of people per day would receive a prize voucher on each ride. After they get the voucher, they go to the nearest themed kiosk and "spin the wheel" for their prize.

The Magic Kingdom

Magic Kingdom has been getting old and so have some of its attraction so now for this golden celebration we’ll be giving o those who need it most. First off Space Mountain will get the promised refurbishment that has been planned for a while but never fully became realized. This will make Space Mountain move much smoother. We will also be adding a single riders queue into the mix with a whole remake of the queue area. Moving on from Tommorowland is Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin which will be adding new queue music to make drum beating less repetitive, but it will still be present just less a lot less. The queue will be able to hold more people indoors by eliminating on thing the Fastpass line. That’s right that’s one less omnimover with Fastpass. The general track and mechanics of the ride will be upgraded so you can grab and hold the gun in your hands as well as spin with the joystick. Some of the current static figures will be replaced by new animatronics. (Such as Zurg) The tunnel will also get an update to digital video so guests can see clearer. Next is the Tommorowland Speedway in which the cars would be switched to using gasoline

Opening its doors once more to guests is the beloved Golden Horseshoe Saloon. Guests will be able to return once again to watch the saloon show with a live pianist and dancers, and who can ever forget the famed Mrs.Whitmore the feisty best (and may I say only) singer here at the saloon. Who will be constantly be trying to be brought off stage by a cowboy who's tired of listenin' to her singin'. The menu includes Western themed menu choices unique to this location that one would've found out west. Maybe you could even ask for the Golden Brew (A freshly squeezed juice made of lemons, limes, and orange for a citrus flavor)

Moving on from here you enter Fantasyland where it was completely remodeled so you would no more be in a Festival, and instead borrows architecture from DL. One of the nicest changes is to The Little Mermaid: Undersea Adventure is upgraded with a new ending that was planned which Ursula is being electrocuted (Projection) and harpooned by a ship.

dca_mermaid_layout.jpg

In old Fantasyland PPF will finally get some love to the main ride itself by acquiring the planed DL update for the 60th. While the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh gets some new love as well. Now in the Blustery Day scene Pooh will fly around the entrance of the room ending at the hunny tree. While the winds knock down Eeyore’s Home as he complains about it both taken from TDL’s version. The next update will be in the Heffalumps and Woozeles room were video screens are added of flying heffabees, as well as a redo of the rain room where it’s animated rain on the screen in the small transitional room. In the rain came down room at the end Pooh is no longer suck in a tree instead he’s looking in the direction of the next room saying hold down piglet I smell honey. The last change is a new ending taken from the new Winnie the Pooh in which it is now Everything is Honey. Screens will be present as running honey. An animatronic Pooh is overhead the exit eating honey in his costume. In this room you will see several animatronic dancing honey poohs as well as honey animals (screens) on the ceiling swimming about.

The last change in Fantasyland will be the switch from film to digital for Phillarmagic as well as the addition of randomization in which every scene will have 1 or 2 alternates except (the opening with the orchestra, Peter Pan, and the ending with the orchestra). Each alternate will share the same effect in the show so no one would feel left out.

For the 50th anniversary of WDW, no celebration would be complete without a brand new fireworks spectacular utilizing the latest and greatest in technology to bring a brand new fireworks show that uses elements from previous projection based firework shows like Disney Dreams and Once Upon a Time to make a brand new firework spectacular show called Discover The Magic. This shows main theme is discovery, with the main host being Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, making his east coast debut. Though his younger brother will appear in the beginning and end of the show, Oswald will be the one to take us across the Disney worlds (though he appears in most of the scenes, he will mostly be interact with the events of the songs). The main advantage of using projections for the show is to be able to have a show without the fireworks whenever the weather isn't cooperating and to envelope guest into the story that is being told in the show.

Discovering the Magic:
To open up this celebration, a new and unique song specifically created for the show called "Discover the Magic" will begin the show with various Disney characters appearing in it till the song transition to "The Second Star to the Right" before Mickey and Oswald show up. Mickey, with his sorcerer's hat, briefly talks about the importance of discovery and magic (emphasizing that discovery is what leads us down new paths to new adventures and destinies) before creating some magic, in a similar fashion to the Sorcerer's Apprentice scene in Fantasia but with new animation, and leaving the hat on a stand as he needs to attend to some business quickly. The temptation is too much for Oswald as he tries the hat but ultimately is unable to control it as it pulls him into a portal and the audience with him.

Discovering a Celebration:
Once the mood lightens up, we see a pixie dust outline of a familiar candelabra start to form before it solidifies his image and we launch into a unique take on "Be Our Guest" different from the previous show versions (with a highlight being the castle looking like a cake again for the ending of the song). Soon after we find ourselves in Arendelle as the castle is about to open up it's gates "For the First Time in Forever" with Anna and Elsa preparing for the celebration. The party turns into the Snuggly Duckling as Roughians and Thugs launch into "I've got a Dream" with everyone around signing about their dreams (and instead of Flynn's part, Oswald involvement will be him taking over the part to tell his own dream while at sword point). continues into Agrabah with the grand celebration of the arrival of "Prince Ali" going down the streets and to the Palace.

Discovering Who You Are:
After the party in Agrabah, Genie does his flight attendant spiel from the movie as he enters the forest and disappears behind a waterfall. It isn't long before the voice of Pocahontas pours out from a top the falls singing "Just Around the Riverbend" before she plummets down the falls and into the rapids. Once Pocahontas splashes onto Greek shores, we find Hercules on the hill determined to "Go the Distance" till finds his hero's welcome right where he belongs. When Herc soars into the skies we see clouds before a balloon appear and a piano key plays "The Married Life" as more balloons appear before showing that they were lifting Carl's House from Up. In a similar fashion to WoC, we see the Up gang on the house and hear Doug say "My name is Doug. I have just met you and I love you" before the final floating image we see is Oswald holding onto a Mickey balloon that's going upward. Soon the sky turns into a pond in a Chinese Garden as we see Mulan "Reflecting" upon herself, but this isn't an exact scene from the movie with Oswald appearing in the background, it's a scene dedicated to the reflecting moments in Disney movies (watch this for reference: ) with clips of various Disney and Pixar characters appearing while the song is playing on.

Discovering the Dark Side:
After the last tune of Reflections fades away, we find Oswald and ourselves in Dr. Facilier's Vodoo Emporium as he welcomes us to see his "Friends on the Other Side" before dooming out fate to becoming Ursula's "Poor unfortunate Souls". Once the sea witch has had enough of us, she has us "Be Prepared" as Scar takes over trying to torture and capture Oswald. He barely escapes as all h*** brakes loose as Maleficent ignites the castle on fire and sending us to Bald Mountain to face Chernabog (which the music combines "Hellfire" and "Night on Bald Mountain")

Discovering the Happy Ending:
Just as it looks like all hope is lost for our friend, Mickey obtains the Sorcerer's Hat and puts everything back to the way it is supposed to be (with the Sorcerer's Apprentice music coming in). at first it looks like Mickey is upset with Oswald but his grin turns into a smile as he forgives him and we got into a kaleidoscope of color as a more triumphant version of "Discover the Magic" plays out the explosive finale of the show. We get a Farewell message from Mickey and Oswald before "The second Star to the right" plays while guest disperse, ending the show.

***

Now at night there’s a real treat the Main Street Electrical Parade is getting upgraded! From the music to the floats. The music will resemble the new sound of Paint the Night, but there will be nods to Baroque Hoedown. If anything it’s a new take on Baroque Hoedown. This parade will feature many new floats as well as one new addition.

Coming up first is the Tinker Bell Float in which it has completely change to copy what they have done in Pain the Night to have her “flying” other than that no real change. Next is Mickey and Friends Unit riding in and on Casey Jr. Something different here as a nod to the original parade Dumbo has returned by riding on top of the train fully illuminated.

Then it’s a new float the Lion Kings Float were all the plants on vibrant with odd colors as young Simba has a leaf mane and a Zazu Spinner “flies ahead of him”. After the first Lion King float and spinner passes you will notice several more spinners have been added looking like the grubs Pumba and Timon like to dine on. The last float for this unit is one more jungle “with water” in which you can see Pumba and Timon on the front and Rafiki on the back of this float. While mized into the parade will be an instrumental Hakunna Matta.

Next will be the Alice and Cinderella Units no new changes here. Yet coming into the view is a floating lone boat surrounded by flashing lanterns. Inside this floating boat on “water” will be Rapunzel and Eugene. When they are around you can hear a slight bit of I See the Light. Next will be the Peter Pan Unit untouched. Rounding the corner will be Kristoff’s Sleigh with Kristoff and Anna riding inside while Sven “pulls it”. Proceeding them will be a large frozen willow tree with frozen dew drops on it under the tree will be a happy Olaf playing about. Following in pursuit will be a spinner themed Marshmallow. Rounding up the newly added Frozen Unit will be Elsa’s Ice Palace with Elsa controlling the lights per say and “throwing ice and snow around”. While the frozen unit floats by you can hear For the First Time In Forever and Let It Go mixed into Baroque Hoedown style.

Next Up is the Snow White float. Following this unit is the new Sugar Rush unit where you see Vanellope Driving in her car in one part and the other part being Candy Cane Woods with Wreck It-Ralph. You can hear Sugar Rush mixed into Baroque Hoedown. Following is the Pinnicioh Unit with the return of the old Monstro Float. Following is the last new unit being the Polynesian Unit being started off with fire waver sand fire breathers. Next being a Polynesian Jungle with Moana (2016 Film Character) running about the jungle and waving to the guests. Following will be hula dancers with Lilo in her hula costume. Finally it will bring Stitch in waving in front of the seas and a replica of a lighthouse from the film. Next will be Elliot and Pete, and the finale of America.

Disney's Hollywood Studios

For Disney's Hollywood Studios we've included a host of new theatrical shows as well as a major refurbishment of Fantasmic!

Get ready to see the night come to life in a new light for WDW's 50th as the classic Fantasmic show gets an large upgrade to improve the show even more, making it even more magical than ever. The classic show and music will remain relatively the same, but several changes will be made to the show, including:

-Showpass. To start off, one problem with the show that will be addressed is the crowding issue. A new showpass system will be installed (and no, it will not be like the new Fastpass plus system requiring reservations months ahead) that will require guest to show up after park opening to a new fastpass kiosk across from tower, where you scan your ticket/magic band and receive a physical showpass to redeem at the show time specified on the pass. There will be stand by sitting at the edges of the stadium for those unable to get Showpasses for the show (a little under 1,000 seats will be made available for standby sitting).

- Theater and Island upgrades. Next on the improvement list is upgrades to the theater space itself. This will include new projectors (as well as ones for projecting onto the island itself to bring the island to life), new LED lights, new water fountains and water screens similar to WoC's, a new sound system to play the audio clearly and loudly as possible, and so much more. These upgrades will help make the experience as immersive as possible.

- Show Changes. Now to get to the main course of this Fantasmic dish, the show will receive many changes and replacements for several scene featured already. The parts going to Yesterland will include the bubble sequence and the Pocahontas scene to allow for brand new scenes and extension of existing ones. In place of the bubble scene will be a live action choreographed performance of "I Wanna Be Like You" on the island, with Louie having the moving mouth from Mickey and the Magical Map so he can sing his own song.

After the party in the jungle, we transition to the snuggly Duckling for a Live action "I've got a dream" scene featuring the entire Snuggly Duckling Crew and Rapunzel and Flynn before going to a hefflumps and Woozles scene (to compete DL's Pink Elephants on Parade scene) with a mixture of live performers and projections on the water screens. After that we go back into the Jiminy Cricket/Monstro/Mickey Drowning scene before arriving at the depths of Davy Jones as the cannon blast comes from the Black Pearl this time (instead of Radcliffe firing it off) as the guest witness a battle for the Pearl between Jack Sparrow and Barbosa, with the fighting being on the ship sailing around and the island with several stunts going on at once. After Sparrow sends Barbosa to Davy Jones' locker, we transition to the Romance/Princess segment. The projections on the water screens will showcase all the princess couples who aren't going to be featured in live action during this scene (Like Aladdin and Jasmine, Anna and Hans, Tiana and Navine, etc) before they come out.

Two new floats will be added carrying Cinderella and Prince Charming (with "A Dream is a Wish your Heart makes" playing during their scene) and Aurora and Philip (playing "Once Upon a Dream"). When we get to the villains segment, guest will notice that even more villains have been added to the scene (from Shan Yu to Dr. Facilier to Hans and King Candy), but the big highlight will be the brand new Maleficent dragon, like the one in DL, as well as the extended dragon scene (so we get more of a fight between the dragon and Mickey). Once the dragon has been slayed and the villains defeated, the character celebration will go as usual but with characters both on the island as well as on the boat before a enhanced finale segment (thanks to projections on the mountain) will end the show

New Theater Experiences for DHS:
For WDW's 50th, 3 new shows and theaters will be added to DHS to help with the celebration. These will occupy the spaces formally used by American Idol the Experience, The Voyage of the Little Mermaid, and Beauty and the Beast. These shows will have incredibly detailed theaters and exteriors to blend them into their appropriate areas as well as indoor queues and lobbies as well as accommodating Fastpass Plus reservations for the shows.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarves: An Enchanting Musical Experience
The biggest theater will be the Carthay Circle Theater, which will replace Beauty and the Beast and will be presenting a show version of the first Disney animated movie, Snow white and the Seven Dwarves. The exterior will be the theater where snow white premiered, the Carthay Circle Theater (in a full scale recreation), while the queue is themed to the premiere night of the movie, and the theater itself will be about the same size as DCA's Hyperion Theater (with 2 floors instead of 3) but will offer a high quality retelling of the classic story in a theater environment.

The Golden Mickeys:
Replacing American Idol the Experience will be the Hollywoodland Theater, a rather large theater space that celebrates the Golden Age of Hollywood while hosting a show that pays tribute to Hollywood award shows like the Oscars, known as "The Golden Mickeys". Though this show has been in several other locations, this version will be more unique to DHS with more of a Award Show emphasis in the show and theater theming, and will have the advantage of going through several Disney and Pixar Animated films, from Snow White to Frozen, as characters are presented several awards (like best princess, best queen, best prince, best couple, best villain, best song, etc) that the audience actually helps decide by voting from their seats using touch screens in the back of every seat before the show the starts. Once everyone has finished their votes, the screens r covered up as the show begins. The hosts of the show will be 2 WDW "ambassadors to the stars" Greg and Lana (with Greg being the main comic relief of the show) and they'll work along side several Disney characters who will introduce the categories and announce the nominees and winners. The show will also see the use of 3D effects (like wind and snow) to help make some of the scenes feel more alive. At the end of the show, the last award will be best cartoon character and after the winner accepts the award, Greg and Lana will invite all the characters out for sing along to "When You Wish Upon a Star" as several clips of Walt play in the background to form an image of the Golden Mickey before the last note is hit and confetti falls from the ceiling.

Off the Page Theater:
In place of the Voyage of the Little Mermaid show will be a theater space that will change with the seasons (ie changing decorations and shows with each season). The general theme of this theater is the Disney Animation studios, with the exterior and queue being modeled after the current Animation Studios (with the Sorcerer's Hat being the entrance, which will be decorated for each show). The theater will be able to change by having the props, sets, and costumes for the shows not in use being kept in a warehouse near the park and having the theater be easily adjustable for each show, with the back of the stage being a projection screen that is used only when necessary for the shows. The 4 Broadway style shows featured throughout the year will be "Tangled: A Hair Raising Musical Event" (Mid March- Late April), "Aladdin: A Musical Spectacular" (Early May- Late August), "Villains Tonight" (Mid September- Early November), and "Frozen: A Chilling Musical Spectacular" (late November- Early March). Two of these shows (Aladdin and Villains Tonight) will be based on already existing shows, with Aladdin being very similar to the DCA show and Villains Tonight being an extended version of the Disney Cruise version of the show, but with the Tangled and Frozen shows, they will be unique takes on their stories in a Broadway style retelling of their respective stories. To accommodate for these changes, the theater will undergo a major renovation and expansion to allow for more seating, an indoor lobby queue, and a larger stage for the shows to be presented on.

Disney's Animal Kingdom

This park will be the least touched by the WDW 50th Anniversary as it'll be the park that has had the most recent major new additions when the celebration rolls around. The big change will be restoring Expedition Everest to its former opening day glory. In addition to the obvious upgrade of retiring "Disco Yeti' and building an entirely new and advance Yeti AA for the finale of the ride, guests will also encounter an AA arm and claw of the yeti lunging at them with a chunk of the "track" at hand right before they take the attraction's climatic plunge, an effect which replaces the shadow of the Yeti destroying the tracks.

The other new addition will be the Primeval Forest, a walk through education dinosaur exhibit which will replace the Theater in the Wild...a location which has always had the awkward problem of never fitting into either of its surrounding areas. The Primeval Forest will be an outdoors attraction in the style of the other "trail' attractions at Animal Kingdom and will offer guests exciting looks at various dinosaurs throughout different time periods.

Epcot

As the unique cornerstone of Walt Disney World since before the park itself even came to fruition, we felt it only appropriate to focus a good chunk of our efforts on the original "Edu-Tainment" theme park. New areas and attractions will be popping up all over the park, but by far the biggest and most exciting addition will be the "Weather and Climate Pavilion", the long awaited successor to Wonders of Life.

New additions to Future World in the past such as Mission Space and Test Track do a decent job of providing the park with options for thrill seekers, but do very little in terms of providing an actual sprawling "Pavilion" atmosphere with multiple attractions and educational possibilities. That's where this new pavilion hopes to be a true return to form, including corporate sponsorship from The Weather Channel.

Wonders of Life will be completely torn down to make way for the new structure which will house an E ticket thrill ride, an educational D ticket Omnimover, a comedic theater show, and an interactive weather exhibit.

The pavilion's exterior will be sleek and modern looking, taking on the form of a curved tower lined with dark blue glass tiles. The structure rises about four stories high. Rising above the entrance is a giant modern windmill which will partially power the pavilion.

Stepping inside the lobby, guests can see the queue for the E ticket directly to their left and the entrance to "Journey Thru The Climates" on their right. Directly ahead is a theater marque with the words "Goofy About Weather" spelled out. This fun-filled theater attraction offers a unique take on a classic "Goofy About..." short, complete with in-theater effects timed to Goofy getting pelted by various forms of weather. On either side of the theater entrance are staircases that lead up to the "Weather Control Center" which can be seen from the lobby.

Weather Control Center

The Weather Control Center is the main educational offering for this pavilion. Inside guests can explore the process of how meteorologists predict the weather. All kinds of screens are displayed around the room showing the weather patterns for different parts of the country. The room is designed to bare resemblance to the main studio of The Weather Channel. Various touch screen interactive games will be available hosted by various Weather Channel personalities. Outside the control center above the entrance to the theater between the two staircases is a giant display of Florida's weather patterns which can be prominently viewed from the lobby.

Journey Thru The Climates

This educational D ticket Omnimover will in many ways serve as a compliment to the Living with the Land boat rides. We'll visit more regions of the earth and learn how the climate affects living conditions. The hook of this attraction is that each climate will feature a realistic simulate of the climate's effects.

Walking down the hallway which serves as the attraction's queue, guests see traveling posters for exotic locations such as Hawaii and Switzerland. Continuing further down they pass a window. Looking "outside", there appears to be a harsh blizzard (achieved by blowing bits of paper around the small room circling the window through a giant fan)

Reaching the loading area, guests are in what appears to be a small research lab in the middle of the Antarctic. The white Omnimovers don't have any specific visual features, but they're designed with a technology that allows the temperature of each and every individual car to be controlled. Acclaimed voice acting Kevin Michael Richardson serves as narrator for the attraction as we enter a dark tunnel with loud sounds of howling wind on either side of us.

"The climate of any particular region on Planet earth isn't merely how hot or cold it is. It's far more all encompassing than that. Every region of our planet has a different climate, and with different climates come different ways of adapting.

We are then pelted by harsh cold air as we enter the Antarctica segment which winds its way around a frozen body of water with various AA penguins huddled around it as well as a realistic AA polar bear crouching in the distance. On a forced perspective hill we can see a research lab, which Richardson explains is the only way humans can survive in the harsh transitions of the Arctic tundra.

The faint sounds of a ukelele can be heard as we enter our next transitional tunnel. "While some climates make it virtually impossible for humans to exist in, others are quiet the opposite. The climate of the South Pacific for example is one of the main reasons why Hawaii is on of the Earth's most traveled to locations".

We enter the Hawaii room which again encircles a body of water. An AA of a surfer can be seen "catching a wave" via an impressive effect using wavepool technology. The lighting quickly goes from a sunny day to a dimly lit sunset. Of course the temperature of this room is very warm and comfortable. Out in the distance we can see a miniature of a high rise hotel. A luau featuring various AA characters can be seen on a stage underneath a "starry sky" as we enter the next transition tunnel.

"While the warm weather of Hawaii offers ideal living conditions, the unforgiving radical temperature changes of Death Valley offer a much more challenging climate, though still one that draws a breed all its own..."

The death valley scene once again circles a body of water, only this time it's a small lake that's been completely dried up save for a small muddy puddle in the center. We can see various forms of desert wildlife scrounging for what little is left. Shadows of vultures circle over us. We come upon a projection-mapped "oasis" which fades into a rock as a mirage effect. The only signs of human life are a couple brave backpackers as well as a cabin on a hill. The temperature of this room is cranked up to make it slightly uncomfortable. As we go through, the lighting once again changes to night time and we get a harsh blast of cold wind simulating how the desert can drop to freezing temperatures at night.

We then transition into the Everglades. While the temperature is still hot, a warm breeze is added to the mix that cools us down a little bit to simulate Florida's humidity. This is a small room that contains a swampy landscape and all the wildlife you would expect to find. A cabin on stilts sits in the corner of the room.

The final scene is set in Switzerland. We see an elaborate forced perspective model of the Matterhorn, with the twinkling lights of a city underneath it proving that not all cold climates are uninhabitable. With that the Omnimover goes down one final tunnel and we exit the attraction.

Over at what was the former Odyssey building is the new unique table service the Discoverer's Club (a branch of the Adventurer's Club) were you be able to eat some of the discoverer's favorite meals as well as some old favorite meals and drinks from the Adventurer's Club formerly located at Pleasure Island. You may even find little nods to the members of the Adventurer's Club and Discoveryland of DLP. Maybe you might even find something of the organization S.E.A. Here in this restaurant we won't say but something fishy has been going on fishy between the leader of this branch and S.E.A .

Mary Poppins has been just dying for representation in a big way at the parks and here it is! Now that guests are in the Jolly Holiday Mercantile they can buy all their Mary Poppins Merchandise needs as well as goods that can be found in the UK. This gift shop is housed in the Banks next door neighbor Mrs. Andrews. Outside the store they can see her dog (animatronic) barking away.

In Kite Flyers Park will be an area for the festivals outdoor portions as well as a fountain with benches facing it and a moved meet and greet for Mary Poppins and Bert inside the Holiday Gazebo. The other exit/entrance of the park will be into the other part London.

I'd like to take personal responsibility for Team Sklaronah's project having very little formatting. I specifically volunteered to make the final post anticipating doing a whole bunch of formatting stuff to it. When the time came to start piecing together everyone's various parts, as luck would have it my laptop completely clunked out on me...leaving me to have to flee to a library to post everything together basically at the last minute. I totally understand if the lack of formatting hurts our final grade, I just don't want that particular aspect of our project to reflect poorly on my other team mates.

Baxtanu
@IDInstitute, @Vipraa, @englanddg, @JokersWild and @LittleGiants16

This week, Baxtanu created the Walt Disney World Golden World Celebration! Let's see how things went down:
- Why have the word "World" twice in the name? It's a little too repetitive
- I like the intro, but a proper title at the top would have been nice
- I love the format of the website, very clean and neat
- The way with wording on the first page is amazing, well done!
- I wish you had gone into more detail with the acts of kindness, because I really liked this idea
- The image at the bottom is nice, but some of the icons look a little odd with the gold (especially the way you put the gold one)
- I think that the castle looks great with the gold, good job!
- I like the subtle route you took with the decor
- I really enjoyed the idea of specialty dining events at MK
- I feel that the October, 1st event would sell out. You should have made it multiple nights, in the anniversary week.
- No comment on the refurbishments, not good but not bad. I feel that a few attractions were missed over (HM, BTMRR, JC, etc)
- Why refurbish the aging existing electrical parade when you could create a new night parade
- I LOVED Magic of the Night, well done! Especially the video, great job @Vipraa
- Your campaign seems a little light on new attractions, as you really only included refurbishments. A huge missed opportunity, IMO
- The overlay on SSE is a little boring, something more exciting would have been better (and no, not a wand)
- I like the idea of refurbs to UOE and Imagination, but new rides at Epcot are really needed! Especially because they won't be getting a complete over-haul in the near future, new attractions would have been nice.
- the whole marching band thing is nice, but I think that should stick to Main Street/MK
- Why make Tapestry of Nations run for a year if it's so beloved?
- I like the specialty dining for Epcot, well done
- I like the ideas for decor and entertainment, great job!
- Tree of Life's overlay feels really odd, temporary and last-minute. I feel that make more leaves gold and engraving gold into the trunk could have been cool
- I like how you kept DAK, but especially DHS light on new offerings, but a little bit more would have been nice for not just these parks, but for Epcot
- No comment on the resort and Disney Springs additions, not bad but not amazing

Overall, Baxtanu did and amazing job this week, but they're odd overlays, lack of new attractions and refurbishment heavy celebration may be enough to send this tribe to Imagineer's Council.

Sklaronah
@tcool, @TheOriginalTiki, @Zweiland and @InfiniteRightEar97

This week, Sklaronah created the Forever and a Day Celebration! Here's how they did:

- I'll start off by saying that your proposal was really disorganized and not really edited/proof-read. There were a lot of issues with grammar, spelling, etc
- I loved the "medal" look of the logo, well done!
- I like the 50 levels, but it seems a little "out of order" if these levels are arranged from least valuable to most valuable.
- Also, are your chances equal of receiving a Limited Edition Mug and a 7 Night, 7 Day Trip? Because that doesn't really make since
- I wish you had included a night in the castle suite
- PARAGRAPHS!! ;) Split things into more paragraphs, please!
-
Next is the Tomorrowland Speedway in which the cars would be switched to using gasoline
The cars already use gasoline ;)
- I like the additions to Little Mermaid, well done!
- I love the idea of the Golden Horseshoe, but it's called the Diamond Horseshoe at WDW. The Golden Horseshoe is at DLR.
- I enjoyed the idea of a random Phillharmagic, great job!
- I wish you had put a little bit more detail and focus into the fireworks show
- I like all of the additions to DHS, but after a huge overhaul, it's a little bit overkill
- I like the new attractions for Epcot, it's just what Epcot needs. But, UoE and Imagination need
refurbishments badly.
- I like the idea of Cherry Tree Lane, but I wish you had focused a little bit on the exterior and how it fits into the existing
pavilion
- Where's the specialty dining and the decor? I see Attractions and Entertainment scattered around, but you missed half of the requirements. Also, you really blended the two sections that you had, making it less distinct
However, your proposal must have 4 distinct sections based on new offerings that will be coming to Walt Disney World.

- Attractions (either brand-new or completely refurbished)
- Entertainment (either brand or an updated show)
- Decor
- Specialty Dining
- Also, what about Disney Springs, the resorts and DAK. It seems like you almost forgot about those and turned in an incomplete proposal.

- A concluding paragraph would have been nice.

In sum, Sklaronah turned in an outstanding concept, but fell short with a lackluster presentation and missing content. This could even be enough to send Sklaronah to Imagineer's Council!
