Challenge 2: Thrills, Chills, and Builds!
hqdefault.jpg

After the success of the Island of Otoko (designed by fellow cast member @spacemt354 on the Sole Imagineer) and it's grand EMV dark ride (We're pretending this is canon), Legoland Florida's management realizes that high quality, themed thrill rides are suddenly in the market.

Knowing this, they have assigned you to creating their most thrilling attraction ever. Hopefully, this new addition will push Legoland Florida over the top.

Your task is to create a themed thrill ride for Legoland Florida. It can be placed in any land except the Island of Otoko. Also, please try to keep it realistic.

This challenge is due Saturday March 19th at 8:00 PM. You must have at least 10 sentences. Team PM's will be up momentarily.

Ready... Set... GO!

Introduction

Welcome to the newest addition to LEGOLand Florida coming in 2020! Based on the success of using their own properties with Bionicle, the board of directors at LEGOLand wanted to add more thrill aspects to their theme park in order to broaden their appeal even further to a greater audience, while still appealing to kids alike.

The answer was a theme park attraction based on the fantasy video game, LEGO Dimensions. This popular game has showcased many characters from a wide range of Lego products based on famous films, tv, and more. It provides a jumping off point for LEGOLand to immerse their guests even further with spectacular visuals and ride experiences.

Ride Location
Legoland-Florida-Map.png

The ride will be situation off the left side of the "Miniland." As part of the addition, there will be new locations in the Miniland that seamlessly flow with the locations in LEGO Dimensions, so the land itself acts as both a pre-show and a post-show for the attraction, including places like Gotham City, Lord of the Rings, and more!

The attraction will be completely enclosed inside a show building and will consist of dark ride scenes and a coaster section at the end run by Linear Induction Motors. You will have to be 40 inches tall to ride.

Attraction Queue
The queue meanders indoors and are transported to Foundation Prime at the center of the Lego Multiverse, where the evil Lord Vortech resides. On the walls are images and descriptions of foundational elements that people in the Lego Multiverse have been trying to find in order to bring to Foundation Prime. Because once all the pieces are gathered together at Foundation Prime, they can control the Multiverse, which is exactly what Lord Vortech wants.

As you pass a corner you are advised to walk through a secret door, where you are greeted by Batman, who as the World's Greatest Detective has infiltrated Lord Vortech's lair and wants you to help him recover the pieces so they don't fall into Lord Vortech's grasp.

As a pre-show, Batman explains that he will guide them through the Lego Multiverse and to find the foundational elements - Scooby snacks, Kryptonite, and TARDIS.

You will travel in a Multiverse enabled Bat-Limo and Batman leads you to the Load area.

Ride Vehicles
hydraulic_launch_system_by_lightningstrike0502-d7b1msz.jpg

The attraction will start out as a dark ride and them develop into a thrill ride towards the climax, zipping around the multiverse to try and secure the elements away from Lord Vortech. At the mid-way point in the attraction, the ride will switch from being a dark ride to a coaster using Linear Induction Motors, creating a "thrill" element similar to Big Grizzly Mountain in Hong Kong Disneyland.

The coaster train has 5 cars that seat 4 passengers each for a total of 20 per train. The individual cars also have the capability to rotate individually in order to turn guests towards the dark ride scene sections of the attraction.

Once you board your vehicles, Batman then guides you to your first stops in the Multiverse.

Scenes 1 and 2 - The LEGO Movie and Scooby Doo
lego-dimensions-screenshot-02.jpg

You approach Bricksburg and find Emmitt and all of his friends who notice your cars.

Emmitt: "Hey, welcome friends! Glad you can make it on this awesome day!"
Batman: "Today isn't awesome..."
Emmitt: "Why's that?"
Batman: "We need your help to find the Scooby snacks before Lord Vortech gets his hands on it"
Emmitt: Me? But...would I have to build something, like a spaceship?
Spaceman: Spaceship? Spaceship?!! Here you go...ah we're going to space
Batman: No we don't...ugh...let's just go.

You and Emmitt's friends then sail off to find the Mystery Machine traveling along in search of the Scooby Snacks, when ****gy points something out.

****gy: Like Zoinks! It's the Vortech dude!

You see ships coming from the distance when Batman finds something in the Mystery Machine. Pulls off a cover to find Scooby with the Scooby Snacks

Scobby: Rorry...
Batman: Ah...First try!

You are about to head off to the DC Multiverse when you are pulled in by a inter-dimensional paranormal ray gun and start to hear 80s music.

Scene 3 Ghostbusters

(^ Had to include the music:p)
gb2jpg-73e70e_765w.jpg

Batman: Ugh what are we doing here? We don't have time for ghosts...

Slimer pops out and smiles as your vehicles turn before getting slimed by the ghosts, however Batman isn't so lucky.

Batman: Let's get out of here...

And you fly away trying to get to the DC Universe when your traveling vehicle is hit with a Lord Vortech rocket and sent flying into the Lord of the Rings.

Scene 4 - Lord of the Rings

You end up right in the battle of Helm's Deep and try to maneuver your way around the arrows and orcs fighting all over the place.

Batman: Gesh this place is worse than Gotham...we gotta go...third time is the charm!

Scene 5 - DC Universe
lego%20d2%201000x665.ashx

Batman: Here we are and look Lex has a precious supply of Krytonite...

You enter a battle between Superman and Lex Luthor in a Kryptonite suit when Batman interferes and takes Lex's suit away.

Superman: Thanks Bats, you need any help?
Batman: Do you bleed?
Superman: I'm made of steel...steel doesn't bleed
Batman: Oh right...stupid question...alright come along.

All of a sudden Marty McFly comes and says that Lord Vortech has infiltrated Dr Who and plans to take TARDIS...and you'll need the Delorean in order to get there fast enough.

Batman: What's wrong with my car
Marty: It needs a speed boost...

Scene 6 - Back to the Future

Lego-Dimensions-Back-to-the-Future-Batman.jpg

You travel to Doc Brown's Lab where the DeLorean sits and Doc gives your vehicle a boost.

Doc: That should do it!
Batman: Let's do this...

Soon purple lighting surrounds your vehicles as they come to a stop...you feel the room shake around you and you blast off! 0-40 in 2.3 seconds.

Scene 7 - Dr Who
doctor-who-lego-dimensions.png

You fly around and you see TARDIS being taken by Lord Vortech, you sway around a corner at 30 mph and on a visual projection screen you see a huge battle take place as Batman and Superman battle it out with Lord Vortech and the Dr Who Cybermen can be seen in the background as well approaching.

Superman gives a fatal blow to Lord Vortex sending him crashing into the Cybermen as they escape with TARDIS and give it back to Dr. Who

Dr Who: I think this will be safe with me.

Scene 8 - The Dimensions

01_ld_home_hero_b.jpg

Batman: Quick let's get back! We don't have much time.

You fly around a few more corners, up and down some hills and sharp turns as you see all of the multiverses around you in a space-like atmosphere making your way back to the Batcave to safety.

You exit from the Batcave which provides a portal back to the LEGOLand "Dimension" as Batman thanks you for helping save the LEGO Multiverse, but warns that we might need you again sometime when Lord Vortech returns.

You then exit out to the Miniland once again where there will be a small, quaint giftshop selling Lego Dimensions merchandise.

Conclusion
Overall, LEGO Dimensions will bring the best of both worlds to LEGOLand. It will immerse guests in a dark ride like setting with improved Audio-Animatronic characters and physical sets, yet will also engage thrill seekers with a launch style coaster through the LEGO Multiverse towards the end. Hopefully, this addition will bring guests an exciting adventure that ties in with one of LEGO's most popular products to their Florida theme park!

Alright.. Due to only one team being able to post, they automatically claim a victory.

Millennium Force

Due to these circumstances, two people will be eliminated, one from each non-posting team. I am judging this completely from activity.

Therefore, @Sam4D23 and @DSquared are eliminated from The Road Trip. I'm sorry to see both of you go, and I wish you the best of luck! :D

The next challenge will come tomorrow morning while I figure out how to increase activity..

Challenge 3: The Coolest Coaster Ever!

la-trb-revolution-six-flags-magic-mountain-20150903

It's 2018. Following the successes of the virtual reality coasters popping up across the entire Six Flags brand, the company plans to reach new heights in terms of coaster technology.

Your task for this challenge is to design a brand new high-thrill roller coaster for any American Six Flags park. You must describe your coaster from the facade to the end.

You can use any type of roller coaster you desire, but you cannot create a new ride system.

In addition, you must choose one of three "gimmicks" that executives want you to add...

1. Add a virtual reality feature to the coaster, sort of like this one...

2. Have a beyond-vertical drop.

3. Incorporate DC or Looney Tunes theming into the ride.

This project is due at 8:00 PM on Saturday March 26th. You must have at least 10 sentences and no more than 15 images.

READY, SET, GO!

Team Millennium Force Presents....
The Batman

2856Screen-Shot-2015-07-14-at-11.44.18-AM-700x293.png

An exhilarating wing coaster designed by roller coaster manufacturer Intamin, this new addition to Six Flags Discovery Kingdom will not only provide much needed support after the opening of 2016's The Joker, but will also act as the catalyst for the complete re-theme of the entire land to the DC Universe.

Backstory

Originally in July 2013, with the announcement of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Six Flags wanted to capitalize on the two paramount heroes clashing with the opening of a new Batman coaster to compliment the new Superman: Ultimate Flight coaster that was to open in 2014. The coaster was to be called "The Dark Knight" and rise to 150 feet. At the time though, Six Flags didn't have the funds for such an extensive coaster, and opted to go for a re-theme of Roar to The Joker with Rockey Mountain Construction.
joker2.jpg

In 2016, after the monumental success of The Joker, plans for a Batman themed coaster were brought back on the table, however this time, however loosely revised and planned around the well-received new iteration of Batman, and to correlate with the title of the upcoming solo Batman film, was re-named just....
"The Batman"

The Batman - Coaster Design

Plans were brought back onto the table and kept pretty much the same. Intamin had great success with their new wing coaster design with 2012's SkyRush in Hershey Park, PA, the same ride system that will be implemented here.
0714amusement_hershey_skyrush.jpg

The coaster vehicles will seat 4 across for 8 rows, with the exciting effect being that the two "winged" seats will be sitting off the track, providing an incredible effect of pure flight and g-forces on turns and ascents.

The coaster design won the 2012 Brass Ring Award for Best New Product

The location of The Batman will take the place of the go-kart track. The wing coaster will then fly around the DC Universe land, rising to a peak of 150 feet in the air and then soaring through and in-between the other DC attractions in the area, notably Superman: Ultimate Flight, as if you are "battling" and "interacting" with the other DC Characters.

From Gotham city and a debilitated Wayne Manor you enter a small mountainous facility that looks like it's hiding something. You walk inside to hear shop metal grinding and wrenches twisting to find you're in the Batcave itself. You see newspapers on the wall of villanous foes Batman has taken down over the years, and articles wondering if Batman is a hero or villain himself
large.jpg

You then approach the loading area where you board.

Coaster Blueprint and Ride Description

Once you are seated, the ride begins with a modest climb to the top of the 150 ft peak overlooking the rest of the DC Universe and Discovery Kingdom itself. You race down a 81 degree drop and soar up yet again to a height of 110 ft before diving down as you zoom around and in-between The Joker and The Flash.

All while you are flying around the DC Universe, the bass dropping tones of Hans Zimmer and Junkie XL's Batman score are playing along with you as speakers were installed in this winged coaster to make the experience much more epic.

You soar around swooping 60 degree turns before coming face to face with Superman: Ultimate Flight. You do a barrel roll and spin around the coaster, almost touching its edges before entering a few more curves and coming back to the station.

The coaster lasts for around 1 minute and 15 seconds and you must be 48 inches tall to ride.

Below is a rough cut using RCT3 of the roller coaster experience with on-board audio

Expanded DC Universe
With the addition of a second DC themed coaster to the park's lineup on the east side of the park with the opening of The Joker, we thought it'd be a perfect time to introduce Batman into the mix and bring all the properties together.

Oddly enough, the character that will really tie the land and surrounding areas into each other is Aquaman. The king of Atlantis will make a perfect transitioning point with Ocean Discovery as the walkway into the DC area. A tide pool similar to the one at the entrance to The Living Seas and will mark the entry point. Carved into the rock will be "DC Universe"

Walking into DC universe, straight ahead guests can access The Flash and The Joker, with Superman: Ultimate Flight located past Joker's entrance to the left. The rocks and tidepools will surround the newly rethemed "Aquaman's Tsunami Soaker".

7198351-TsunamiSoaker-ride7-md.jpg

The cartoon pelican who is the current mascot of the ride will be replaced by a stately light house in the center. Aquaman's likeness will be added to the attraction's main sign in classic comic book, non-Jason Mamoa style.

Between The Flash and the main lift hill and drop of The Joker will be the Thomas Wayne Memorial Bridge. This walkway will extend over the park's main entrance just past the metal detectors and will let out in an area right between Sky Screamer and the Cobra family coaster, in the same area as popular rides such as Kong, Daredevil, and Medusa.

This bridge will effectively connect the two most populated areas of the park together and solve the problem of the main E ticket coasters being on complete opposite ends of each other. Plus the addition of the bridge along with the Joker drop and The Flash launching over the entrance will make for a memorable and distinct first impression upon arriving at the park.

Throughout the area there will be vague allusions to the three different cities of Gotham, Metropolis, and Central City. Carnival games just past The Flash will be transitioned into the Central City Grill, a counter service eatery serving up barbeque "in a flash!". This will serve the function of having a main dining option in the new area and represent Flash's home turf.

The areas around The Joker and The Batman will obviously take on the look of Gotham City with walkways themed in a similar style to the queue of Batman: The Ride at Six Flags Magic Mountain with Batman's queue and surrounding area being themed to Gotham City Park and The Joker's surrounding area being themed to Crime Alley.

11694156_1076113639094464_3747360173373265465_n.jpg

Finally, the surrounding area of Superman will be more fully refined into a DC theme. A facade of LexCorp Tower will be constructed to the left of Superman's queue while The Daily Planet giftshop will be expanded into a large DC themed superstore that Superman conveniently exits right into. Be sure to stop by Clark Kent's Photo Booth to get your Superman: Ultimate Flight souvenir photo!

Conclusion
Our goal for this challenge was to provide a coaster that not only offered exhilarating thrills, but also served a purpose. Many Six Flags type coasters are just added to provide another ride, however The Batman connects an entire land together and its presence fleshed out and rethemed the entire surrounding land to provide guests of Six Flags Discovery Kingdom an entire DC Universe.

Challenge 4: It's A Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow.
482ef5ee953ea336311fcfe9343f3898.jpg

I know I said there weren't going to be any Disney challenges, but I figured it would be nice and restart intrest to go somewhere we all know and love.. Disneyland.

Anywho.. The current Tomorrowland at Disneyland is a certified hot mess. It's just a thematic shell for attractions without any continuity at all. We're going to change that.

Your task is to completely redesign Disneyland's Tomorrowland in a massive refurbishment. Here are some guidelines you must follow:

- Other than Space Mountain, you may only keep one attraction from the current lineup..

- You must have a backstory to your land in order to add continuity.

- You may not copy the Tomorrowland 2055 design plans and backstory.. That's just not creative.

- In order to keep Bob Iger satisfied and to give you funding, you must add at least one IP centered attraction.

- Don't give a full description to any attraction.. A paragraph will do.

That's it! You have a lot of leeway here, so hopefully both teams come up with amazing concepts! :D

The project is due Saturday April 2nd at 9:00 PM. You must have at least ten sentences and no more than twenty images. Team PMS will be up as soon as my little sister quits spending Robux. :p

Ready... SET... GO!

Team Millennium Force Presents

Backstory

Tomorrowland has always been a vision of the future, however one of the dilemma's in creating a land of the "future" is that it must constantly evolve to maintain its futuristic persona. Disneyland's Tomorrowland has gone through an evolutionary process that has left it in a contemporary limbo state. From the closure of classic attractions such as the Peoplemover, to the Discoveryland re-skin, and then eventual erosion to the current day hodge-podge of theme and disorganization it is today.

In anticipation of new Star Wars land behind Frontierland, Disney Imagineers knew that it would generate crowds, but having multiple Star Wars attractions in different areas of the park seemed messy. So with that, the Imagineers saw an opportunity to do a complete refurbishment of Tomorrowland, which acted as a makeshift placeholder of the popular Star Wars IP. In preparation of the land's opening, all Star Wars areas from Tomorrowland were removed, such as Star Tours, Season of the Force, Jedi Training Academy, and more, as work quickly began on a full-scale Tomorrowland refurbishment project.

For this Tomorrowland refurbishment, the priority was to find a theme that could last for decades to come. The theme was retro-futurism, Walt's inspired vision of a Project City of the Future. Tomorrowland is truly the future that never was, and while the attractions can change throughout the decades, the aesthetics of retro-futurism have the potential to last and ties the story of Tomorrowland together as a city of the future that never was. Peoplemover and Monorail transportation, an Autopia highway, space travel through the stars and rockets to other-worlds, Tomorrowland invites all ages to explore and experience an innovative vision of the future where we can work, live, and play together.

D - Tomorrowland Vista (Quick Service)
E - The Iliad (Table-Service)

1 - Adventure Thru Inner Space

Adventure Thru Inner Space will be a D-ticket Omnimover attraction replacing Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters, using its same omnimover track and layout. While many thematic elements of the original Adventure Thru Inner Space attraction will be kept in tact, the story will be updated to represent the scientific expansion of the last few decades and to tie in with the overall story of Tomorrowland.

The I.C.C - International Cytoskeletal Commission - has opened their research doors in Tomorrowland for an an adventure through electron microscopy as you are shrunk down to research and record the findings at the anatomical level of the human mind.

The mural on the outside of the attraction represents where you will go on your journey, as fluorescent electron microscopy will be the main focus of this adventure. Traveling through the dorsal root ganglions and neurons, we see the exquisite detail and specificity of inner space.

2 - Guardians of the Galaxy

nova_prime_symbol_by_angel_of_deathx1-d81prrh.jpg

Replacing Star Tours, Guardians of the Galaxy will be a 3D simulator thrill ride that catapults guests into the far reaches of the galaxy on an epic adventure to save Adam Warlock.

As you enter the Tomorrowland Interplanetary Convention Center, across the street from the International Cytoskeletal Commission, the Nova Corps from Xandar express the need to teleport guests to their planet and join the Guardians of the Galaxy in a quest to defeat M.O.D.O.K. who has captured Star Lord's father, and is in possession of the Soul Gem. On board your simulator (the Milano) you travel throughout the galaxy and help the Nova Corps and the Guardians defeat M.O.D.A.K and save the galaxy.

3 - Tomorrowland Peoplemover

The Tomorrowland Peoplemover uses a brand new installed track with the same layout as its previous incarnation. The trains have been expanded to 5 cars each for even more capacity and instead of Goodyear tires pushing the trains along the path, the track has been updated to include magnets that propel the trains down the track.

You board your trains from Project City Plaza taking the moving path to the second level below the icon of Project City. On your 12 minute journey around Tomorrowland you will weave in and out of many of the attractions.

The attraction will be narrated by Peter Renaday, who is most famous for his narration of the 1994-2009 version of the Tomorrowland Transit Authority in the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World.

4 - Space Mountain
The attraction remains the same throughout the refurbishment, as per the challenge prompt

5 - Rocket to Xanadu

Rocket to Xanadu is a 15-minute C-ticket show using projection screens and visual queues to simulate a trip to Xanadu, the planet from the Shanghai Disneyland expansion and Disney film in 2020. Board your Rocket from Tomorrowland and venture out into the cosmos as you travel at hyperspeed through the stars and experience the terrain of the mysterious planet for yourself.

6 - Carousel of Progress

Replacing Innoventions on the first floor, the famous World's Fair attraction will be re-imagined and upgraded for the future generations, while still keeping true to the attraction's original intentions of showing technological progress.

Housed in the "FuturePort Pavilion" the Carousel of Progress can be distinguished by the inclusion of Mary Blair artwork on the facade as the theater spins through the scenes, not only as an easter egg to the original Mary Blair art-pieces that used to be on the Circle-Vision 360 theaters in Tomorrowland, a tie to fellow World's Fair attraction it's a small world, but also as a description the scenes themselves, showing progress throughout the ages.

The four scenes will show the family go through the
1920s (automobiles, appliances)
1960s (space travel)
2000s (cell phones, HDTV, etc)
Lastly, the future - 2040s and beyond

7 - Autopia presented by Honda

Autopia will be redesigned with a new sponsor (Honda, who is supposedly going to be sponsoring the attraction going forward) with a new purpose.

Autopia will be a drive through the city of Tomorrow. The newly designed Honda inspired cars will be electric and energy efficient, with on-board audio and a display screen in the middle to guide you on your adventure. There will be a much more customized look to the vehicles as well and it will feel as if you're actually driving a car of tomorrow. You can use blinkers for turns, use GPS navigation to see where you are on the track, and gaze at the landscape around you as it is themed to a highway around Project City.

Coupled on top of the the Monorail and Peoplemover soaring overhead, it will be a much more engaging experience for the whole family, and in a way, represent Walt's vision of Project City.

8 - Adventure Thru Liquid Space

Adventure Thru Liquid Space is a new spin on the historic submarine voyage in Tomorrowland and a replacement for the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage. Explore the SEAPort of Tomorrowland and dive into an ocean of discovery as you venture to the depths to explore the unknown. Even today, we know more about the solar system and extended universe than we do about the depths of our ocean. This will be an ever evolving attraction through the oceans of wonder as you ride the classic Disneyland submarines with a new, futuristic spin.

9 - Disneyland Monorail
Station gets an overlay to fit in with the retro-futuristic themes of the land

10 - Disneyland Railroad
Same as the Monorail

A - The Green Belt

The Green Belt is a Quick Service restaurant replacing the Tomorrowland Terrace and Jedi Training Academy areas. It is so named based on the "green belt" in the past Project City plans, and will serve something unique to theme parks, healthy organic foods. Organic foods have become popular in recent times and will be into the future as more scientific research about healthy habits and nutrition come to fruition (yes, that rhymed)

Featuring a menu of salads, sandwiches, and other organic options.

B - If You Had Wings
ifyouhadwings.png

A quick service spot beneath Project City Plaza on the first floor. The name is an homage to the extinct Tomorrowland attraction If You Had Wings, however the title in this case is quite literal in that it specializes in chicken wings, and other assortments of fast food side items.

C - Hyperspace Arcade
A space theme video game arcade at the exit of Space Mountain. This Arcade will be state of the art and expanded into the Captain EO theater space and include anti-gravity rooms, laser tag, and more interactive elements!

D - Tomorrowland Vista

Near the entrance to Space Mountain, this small quick service restaurant overlooks the attraction's plaza from the second floor, as well as the Tomorrowland Peoplemover soar through it. Examples on the menu are chicken fingers, fish and chips, fries, and an assortment of fountain drinks.

E - The Iliad
The sister restaurant to The Odyssey in Future World at Epcot, The Iliad is a table service restaurant replacing Super Hero Headquarters on the second floor of the old Innoventions building, now renamed the FuturePort Pavilion. The menu has an eclectic variety of fish, meats, vegetables, and more, with the bonus of having an outdoor deck to provide the most romantic of settings for the Disneyland fireworks or for gazing out over Tomorrowland.

Night-time Effects
Tomorrowland has the potential to be one of the coolest lands at night, and Disneyland's Tomorrowland will live up to that hype, as neon retro-futuristic lights and designs illuminate the facades in a multi-color array to dazzle guests as they enter. Riding the Peoplemover at night will also be a new and exciting experience. With the techno upbeat Tomorrowland background music playing as well, this land will light up the night with amazing 360 visuals

Conclusion
We thank you for visiting Tomorrowland and we hope you come back soon! Thanks for reading along!

@MA Screamin' and @Matt7187 have been eliminated from the Road Trip. Both didn't really contribute to the team effort this time round..

Sorry to see you go, and thanks for playing! :D

Due to upcoming competitions, and that only six remain, there will be two final rounds, both individual. In the next challenge, two people will be eliminated.

Expect it in a little while. ;)
