Muppets Mini-Land / Muppets Courtyard Additions & Refurbishments

It is very true that the Courtyard will get love. I was told of a proposal for a muppet flat, but last I heard it was rejected (but plans change), although it is something that could be effective. The sight line issue was never planned to be addressed through the proposed ride though. Expect a modest overhaul of the façade of MuppetVision, as has been stated before.

A Muppets themed flat ride (or better yet, a dark ride) would certainly be appropriate and beneficial to the park's needs. It would help to draw people into the dead end if there's two attractions listed in the guides.

Couldn't they remove the store to make space and then put up a combo ride/store (closer to where the Premiere Theater used to be) in order to open up the area? There should be plenty of room without interfering with the Star Wars construction.

The MK's carousel is 91 feet across. The alley between MV3D and MM is only 15 feet wider. That gives you seven and a half feet to pass on either side of a carousel that replaces the shop.

If you want a Muppet ride you have to chose between replacing MV3D, Mama Melrose, Star Tours, or a portion of the new parking lot. The question is if WDW wants a new Muppet ride.

Here's where it can expand into the lot...

It doesn't even have to go that far into the current access road. Using the portion of the purple currently in park boundaries could fit a flat ride, but removing the current merch location would likely be necessary for guest flow.

It's also worth noting that there already is a second merch shop in Muppets Courtyard not indicated on the picture -- It's A Wonderful Shop (Christmas themed stuff) in the corner between Mama Melrose and Rizzo's.

You misunderstood my intent. 7.5' clearance is not enough room. You'd need a baby carousel like you find in a mall to fit in that space. IOW, that space is not suitable for any ride.

Yeah, here is a picture of the MK carousel overlaid on the Muppets area. To tight a fit.

I could see Momma Melrose being on the chopping block as it does not fit into the theme of the area at all,

If the Muppets Courtyard is going to be themed to old timey New York City, then an Italian Restaurant fits as much as a pizzeria. It just doesn't fit a particularly Muppets theme. It could be slightly rethemed to a NYC broadway hangout like Sardi's or Carmine's where the Muppets go to after their show.

Anyway, DHS desperately needs at least two new sit-down restaurants to be built before they remove an old one.

That space isn't big enough for even a carousel, it's definitely not big enough for something more impactful unless they are going to take out something else.

There's plenty of room behind Muppetvision -- in the area where the Premiere Theater was and some old M&Gs -- for a smaller ride, they just need to remove the store to allow for better guest flow (a merch location could be build along with the new ride).

Im with you I would prefer them to retheme it instead of just getting rid of it, if they do that there is still space in the bottom left like you showed with diagram.

SWL. The drawings Martin has provided don't show backstage and infrastructure. So, what looks clear to us may not be.

If Muppets were to expand, it's now down to Mama's or Star Tours.

Pigggggs innnn Spaaaaaace!!
Couldn't it go in what's left of streets of America?

It's too bad that there can't be a 'Great Moments in Cinema History' with the Muppets like the American history show at MK. Since the Muppets cinema dark ride won't ever be a thing, this would be a nice compromise. Examples: Pirates of the Caribbean, Gone with the Wind, Casablanca, Indiana Jones, Frozen... anything that Disney could get rights for, really. Idk where there would be space to put it though (wouldn't need too much space, but it shouldn't cause a bottleneck somewhere).
