'Disney Springs' - Downtown Disney expansion officially announced

If Epcot can have a family image with all the alcohol it serves I fail to see how Disney Springs couldn't manage that in one roped off section.

It can, but it seems like what you are asking for is an area for 21+ only. Epcot is not roped off to anyone, therefore remains family friendly.

Disney Springs will be family friendly and serve alcohol, just like Epcot.

I am not saying they shouldn't have some sort of adult focused entertainment in Disney Springs (I think it makes sense, but Atlantic Dance Hall and Jellyrolls just don't seem that popular), I just think using Epcot as a comparison makes the opposite point you are trying to make.

Or they could do DCL option and create an adult only area - use the team that created some of the concepts for DCL to create bars, etc. for Disney Springs just with a larger budget and more space.

Why? I don't see many kids in the Pub. I think a 21+ place can be perfectly appropriate. You don't need kids around to force good behavior. I think the reason Epcot is very much under control is because the tone of it is very themed, friendly, bright, and focused on something other than the drinking and partying. If you were to make a club with live music or dancers or a heavily themed experience I think you'd get the same result. The comedy club, Adventurer's Club, and Jellyroll's all seem to get that behavior while still roping off the younger set.

I think it would actually be better to get that atmosphere away from the parks.

Do Jellyrolls, Atlantic Dance Club, and/or Rix Lounge do good business?

Asking because I don't know the answer.

ADH is popular when there's a convention in one of the hotels close to it. However, it's not advertised AT ALL so most have no idea it even exists. On top of that, transportation there and back from another hotel(except EPCOT resorts) is a PITA. Gee can't imagine why it's not busy all the time(plus it's a perpetual wedding)

ADH is far from proof they don't need a dance environment. But I'll tell you what's proof they do - House of Blues on a Sunday night!

They do fine Jellyroll's does particularly well form what I've seen, not great but I'd say that was because they're pretty out of the way, not promoted, lacking easy transportation, and the Atlantic Dance Club in particular doesn't really offer that much a regular bar anywhere else doesn't. It's kind of empty and stale.

They are all still open if that's any indication. If they weren't profitable to some degree I'd imagine they would have closed their doors by now.

@DisneyGuyNYC Please, if you wouldn't mind cooling it with the gifs and memes. It's not really something we do here and it's starting to get a little out of hand. I realize they are common across the internet but we're a bit more old school here. They aren't outlawed altogether but maybe you can save their usage for the really good ones, maybe just one a day?

I've gotten a lot of good feedback on them both in threads and in my inbox, actually. It's how I express myself. Would you rather I type a boring "haha?"

I don't correct anyone's grammar or spelling here. Is it worse than that, really?

Maybe these lines of text could use a little spicing up.

We like to keep things streamlined and uncluttered. I've had a number of complaints, again I'm not saying you can't post them but maybe just fewer of them.

Streamlined? I would say good grammar and spelling is streamlined but you don't see me going around correcting people on that because it's rude to tell somebody how to express themselves, especially in public.

Do you not think this is something that would have been better to have inboxed me about? I'll be sure to send you all my complaints about people atrocious spelling, grammar, and layout from now on since that's apparently "how" people do things appropriately.

I'm a total tech geek and really loved the digital overlay they did of the model during their presentation.

Agreed that was very nice. I really want to see multi-angle stills and close ups of that model.

Two things are clear from watching the video:

1. It's not just another mall or shoppping center. When they put a JCPenny and food court in there then I'll agree with you.

2. Marketplace is referred to as "remaining family friendly". This implies that other areas of this expansion will be geared towards visitors without children.

So what's the stink about? The fact they haven't accounced tenants? They're not using my money so if nobody signs on and it doesn't get built then I'll just keep callm and carry on.

She was talking about the streamlining of posts, not the words within. And she was asking you politely......
Polite would be to inbox me privately. That has no place in this thread about Disney Springs other than to call out somebody in public.

I'm guessing the people complaining (if there are some) are people that have disagreed with what I had to say. If they can't own that complaint by messaging me or asking me themselves I don't think I should dignify it with a response.

I don't see how expressing myself with a photo is different than a wall of text. Didn't realize I'd have people dictating my style choices or asking me to start censoring my content when I started posting. Perhaps I'll just find another board.

As if this forum didn't have bigger fish to fry with the trolls with several accounts.

Raglan Road happens to be one of my favorites. But anyway, I have no idea what Raglan Road's profit is, but I can tell you that it ix extremely popular based on the fact that it has a line out of the door nearly every night and runs at near 100% capacity. That sums up popular to me.

It seems that people want Disney to be something that it isn't. Disney is about creating family entertainment - this is not a hidden secret. If you are not looking for primarily family orientated offerings, Disney is not necessarily for you.

Yes I agree there can be wholesome and friendly bars and nightlife experience - of which there are some in NYC. I can also find you the absolute opposite in NYC as well.

Mizner's Lounge in the Grand Fla is a great place to enjoy an adult beverage and listen to big band music. Very classy.

I didn't say she couldn't. I said if she would like to polite and friendly she shouldn't. As a mod she could curse me out or delete my account but that doesn't make that the right thing to do.

Why don't we make a poll in Chit Chat and let the posting public vote?

I really didn't mean to offend. I simply tagged you because you either missed or ignored my previous GENERAL request to limit gifs and memes. I'm sorry you disagree with the way it was handled. You can feel free to contact the administrator (wdwmagic) publicly in the help and feedback section with your compliant.

Because Jelly rolls & ADH just arent that good.

Tangent - Last time I was at ADH, a young woman and her man of choice were escorted from the premises after performing unDisneylike acts inside the ladies room. My friend came out of the bathroom and told us.

It also doesn't help that both are a PITA to get to when you are staying on property. You either have to go after a night at EPCOT, or take a bus to DTD and then another bus to Boardwalk, and then repeat that process either way to get home after EPCOT's closing.
