Maybe he can find new ways to motivate them.

I'm very excited. Long, long, long time coming. I can only assume that Universal cranking the bolts definitely helped spur this a little. It will be interesting to hear what numbers we're talking about here. $1B? $1.5B? Dare I say $2B?

Actually, sadly ... I don't think UNI has one bit to do with this. I think it just has gotten to a point where something has to be done. Disney still doesn't want to acknowledge it has competition in Florida.

And, no comment on the amount. Suffice to say the amount is SIGNIFICANT.

And what type of infrastructure changes will need to be made?
Is the parking lot going to be partially built-on for a larger star wars footprint, and will parking now need to increase across the street?

I cant wait for the details once they start to flesh out and get leaked.

Entrance and egress to the park is a mess and has been since opening. It was the first, and I believe, the only Disney park to be built without a master plan for expansion. You should be able to tell that if you are a long time visitor and have watched how areas have been added and opened. I know a new CM garage is a definite. I'm almost certain a new Guest garage was approved as well. And, no, not across the street. The Star Wars footprint has nothing to do with parking beyond, they hope, having more Guests visiting daily.

The 'Dear Leader' of The Walt Disney Company, Robert A. Iger has spent the weekend sunning and funning (OK, I'm making that part up) in the swamps, apparently sans Willow.

I believe he is holed up inside the Grand Flo (his usual choice) and taking part in important meetings (over things like the next six special cupcakes to be offered at WDW? Or the reaction to excrement-themed dessert items. Who knows?)

So, watch every Lifestyler run and hide and stay far, far away from him (update: the Epcot Explorer is pontificating about the wonders of EPCOT yet again on one of his patented three-day visits ... while Lifestyler to the Stars, and my pal, Tom Bricker is back in Tokyo, yes, again!, after stopping off at Aulani. Yes, again!)

More importantly, word is coming down that the BoD will be at WDW Tuesday for a meeting. No, I don't have the subject or itinerary. But anyone with it can feel free to forward it to me. If they follow form, then they'll be hiding in plain sight and meeting at the BW with likely a chunk of a floor closed off.

No, I'm not expecting any pictures.

I placed it here because it would be buried in my thread with 23 pages of people ripping the top two films at the box office right now because they aren't from Marvel or Lucas!

EDIT: Just to confirm the BoD is indeed meeting at WDW. Top on the agenda is approving the financial outlay for the DHS rebuilding and rebranding.

So they are shopping WDW around again???, Alaweed, OLC, Berkshire-Hathaway, Comcast, BlackRock or have I forgotten someone

Oh, and while I hate to admit that Scarlett's oldest child -- Tommy Boi -- is right, I heard a month ago that the Animation attraction was likely closing. I'm not sure if this has to do with the rebuild or not ... I asked @wdwmagic about it and I don't believe he had heard it was closing.

And there will be another 2-3 closings happening by the start of next year. The pace is going to really pick up, and I just have no clue how they're going to get bodies into this park for more than 2-4 hours tops.

Disney isn't looking to sell any longer. BUT ... if someone made them a large offer for a chunk of P&R, then I'd say nothing is off the table.

Personally I'm thinking SALE because if it's simply a routine budget decision there is no NEED for the Iger/BoD to be onsite at WDW especially since they prefer obscure venues, But IF they are actively shopping P&R around there is every reason for them to be at the swamp kingdom.

A number of the ink and paint cels sold exclusively at the Animation Gallery shop made their way to disneystore.com today. At full retail of course.

I believe the speculation is that he is, in fact, staying at the GF, but using the BW convention facilities.

We had lunch at GF before we left the resort and I'll say - GF had uncut grass and looked no where near as nice as BWI looked, and GF is my home and favorite resort. The grounds looked ok, but not spectacular.

Goody for you. I am bitter about many things in life, WDW's current state and management would be one.

But just understand something, I love the place (and have for far longer than the vast majority of people on this forum). That's why I'm bitter ... oh, and why I'm here. I do care ...likely too much!

That wasn't a dig towards you - no need to take it as such. It was a general observation. I love it too, and trust me - I see lots of things they need to fix, and things should fix. But you sound now to me like your long term love should trump someone else's feelings, which is just plain false. My love is long standing and so is many others - there are lots of valid feelings people can have, and time doesn't reflect the worth of any.

I'm hoping it will be at Disney Springs. That would be an incredible way to highlight both them, and DS.

If DHS is about to get massive construction- it might be a complete wreck- which would be terrible for the lights to be there. Although- they might desperately need attractions to bring people in w/ the new closures- so maybe they'll shoe-horn it in. But I hope not...

I'll be shocked if Streets of America stay.

It is on a year by year basis. Should be going ahead this year unless something major happens quickly. Next year, anyones guess at this point.
Yeah I can see them doing it this year to help with attendance before they start shutting down attractions
