Zootopia Characters Coming

Just got back from seeing Zootopia, I'm starting to feel a little sad knowing WDW won't get a Judy and Nick meet and greet yet. Though there is hope that they might become meetable later this year similar to Baymax and Hiro starting out at Disneyland and later at WDW.

I just saw Zootopia in theatres and let me just say that this film would fit in SOOOO well at Animal Kingdom!!! Don't judge this post until you've seen the movie for yourself. There are different climates that the animals live in in the form of cities outside of the normal looking human-city... My favorite being the rain forest!

This movie was freaking AWESOME and hilarious. I'm so happy that a completely original idea from Disney was another huge success!

Just because rumors /plans don't turn out, it doesn't mean they weren't true at the time. Plans change.
Exactly. Much like how Roger Rabbit was supposed to be a big deal in Hollywood Studios with his own attraction and everything... And Avatarland coming to Animal Kingdom... Yea! Remember that? Like what.. 6 years ago? 7?... I hear there are still rumors about that place opening within the next year! :hilarious::hilarious::hilarious::hilarious::hilarious: Idiots.

Saw it. Loved it. Wonderful, wonderful movie. I posted earlier about how I'd like to see Toontown replaced by Zootopia as an easy overlay (and I still want a ZPD car chase dark ride), but now that I've actually seen the film... Zootopia is such a vast--and beautifully realized--environment, it would take an entire park to do that world justice. That said, what'cha wanna bet Disney's going to look at the box office results and plan a Toontown/Zootopia makeover anyway?

I'm going to guess that it won't have anything because it doesn't have the merchandise sales that something like Frozen does.
It just opened (record-setting weekend! Yay!), so it's just out of the gate merch-wise. That said, I agree that *nothing* will probably ever match Frozen merch sales. But it's going to sell more souvenirs this year than Roger Rabbit at this point (that's coming from a HUGE RR fan). But now I'm hearing from another post that *Frozen* could be taking Toontown's spot??? Gaaahhh! (But understandable if true)

If Zootopia comes to the parks, it isn't likely to be at DL. Toontown is earmarked for Fantasyland expansion (read: Frozen).
If Toontown gets flattened for a Frozen attraction...I sure hope it's a GREAT Frozen attraction. Would love to see a Zootopia ride--even a simulator--which, now that I've seen the film, would probably be the only way to capture the scope of that city on a realistic budget.

This is speculation, but Zootopia seems like a great candidate for an expansion at DAK or DHS. With space being so precious at DLR, an expansion seems unlikely. Not sure if it's even been discussed (likely not since the film just came out).

One would hope that if DLR gets a Frozen attraction, it would be a copy of whatever attraction TDS gets. OLC won't abide some crappy Frozen ride, so that's our best hope I'd imagine.

I think Zootopia would be the perfect next major addition to DAK. With pretty much every other land in the park being more "adult" and serious (besides DinoRama, but I'm hoping that's replaced shortly after Avatar in a smaller expansion), something lighthearted and family friendly would be a logical next step. Plus, after seeing the movie, I think the city of Zootopia lends itself great to a huge expansion. Having the central plaza as well as a few of the "ecosystems" (The Rainforest District, Tundratown, etc.), as well as a few immersive attractions, shops, and dining areas, and a SWL-level amount of animations and costumes of Zootopian citizens. That said, while a large expansion for that would make sense in DAK, I don't see where that would fit in DL at all, unless they pull a "there's animals in California" like they do with Bug's Land at DCA.

Zootopia would be a great fit for replacing Rafiki's Planet Watch at DAK. Imagine taking the train to Zootopia.
That would be great. And...this won't happen, but what if they did the train ride like Hogwart's Express and guests arrived at a nighttime downtown Zootopia built inside a huge show building. I'd drive cross-country to Florida to see that. Wait a sec'...now I want that concept for Disneyland; they could build Zootopia completely off-site! :)
