Two years ago at Epcot we really just weren't that impressed. Of the four parks, it was the one we enjoyed the least, so we didn't go back this year. But you guys all seem to LOVE Epcot. So I was wondering...what are you favorite things about Epcot? Our kids will be 6 and 3 next year when we go.

It's not supposed to be fairytales like MK, and what Disney normally stands for, which is why I absolutely have fallen in love with it...my favorite place on this planet, no doubt (and that's a pretty large statement).

Instead, EPCOT has it's own magic, it's a world's fair to humanity and everything we stand for. Our achievements and scientific advancements are there, what we haven't fully explored yet, giving back to the land, and to finish it off a world showcase of our cultural diversity.

It offers hope, inspiration for people who need it. I myself am fascinated with science and knowledge, and just seeing Spaceship Earth makes me giddy. It was also one of Walt's babies (at least the concept), and as a fan of the original EPCOT, I love it even moreso.

It's very fascinating to learn other cultures to be honest. So Epcot has always been my favorite.. well only been there once :)

And the food is great too, so many variations :)

We're going for 9 days...so we will likely park hop a lot. Give me a list of your favorites that I can explore. :)
I would say Horizons, World of Motion, and Wonders of Life, but for obvious reasons cannot :brick:

Go on SSE, that is the best ride there. Either that, or Maelstorm.

-Campy humor of Universe of Energy. Look beyond the old show and respect it's hilarious writing.
-Living Seas. Just walk around the exhibits, don't run out after the ride and Turtle Talk.
-Take the Behind the Seeds tour at the Land. Also they have the best counter service food in all of WDW there.
-Test Track & Mission:Space
-Stop by Innoventions to ride the Segways and build your own rollercoaster in the Sum of Thrills.
-Fountain of Nations
-Do Kim Possible missions in World Showcase.
-Exploring all the countries. It's amazing how much depth and detail there is, yet most people breeze right past them or just look at the shops closest to the main path. Go into countries like Japan, England, etc.
-Catch several shows, including the Japanese drummers, Off-Kilter, and others.

Hope that helps.

Wonders of Life shouldn't be mentioned along with Horizons, WoM, or SSE. Ever. I think people look at it through rose colored glasses.

Really? It's probably my favorite pavilion to date...

- Gotta have some love for Universe of Energy. Easily in my top 3 favorite rides at the park.
- The boat ride at Living with the Land. It's informative yet relaxing and not boring.
- The totality of World Showcase is something to behold. The whole area is so beautiful and there's really not too many other ways to get so exposed to the culture.
- Live entertainment...something the Magic Kingdom seriously lacks, EPCOT makes up in force.
- The Fountain of Nations's regularly-scheduled shows can't be beat.

I remember tons of threads on "update it or close it" for WoL. Then it's closed, and everyone wants it reopened. Not blaming you, but there's two sides to every coin. Personally I thought the pavilion was totally dated and only had one redeemable attraction in it (Cranium Command.)

Oh, dated no doubt, but I think Horizons was dated as well (ironically my 2 favorite pavilions were the ones that wouldn't have fit with modern-day WDW without an update)

Surprised not to see an Horizons fan start complaining yet.

My favorite things at Epcot are:
Test Track
Mission: SPACE
The entire Land pavilion
The Seas With Nemo and Friends
Spaceship Earth
American Adventure
Reflections of China
Impressiones De France
Captain EO

EDIT: I didn't read the entire thread before I wrote my first sentence. I stand corrected.

There's so much that I like about Epcot, and not just the rides. I love how it looks, love the Monorail going around. I just posted on the favorite things thread and after a lot of debating on my favorite things I'm pretty sure I still don't have it right. Honestly if all it had was Spaceship Earth and Soarin' that might be enough for me. But I also love Test Track, Universe of Energy, the Imagination pavilion and so much more....for me there's nothing at Epcot that can be skipped.

One of my favorite things about Epcot is having a dad who worked for GM so we get to go up into their lounge at Test Track and relax, have free Coke, and then get on the ride

I love the fact there are plenty of exciting rides and relaxing fun rides. I find the overall feel of the park very comforting and relaxing. World Showcase is a HUGE plus. who doesn't want to stroll through Paris and dine in Japan all in the same day?

Hard to explain but it's an escape for me. I love the different foods, drinks and people. Last trip we were able to talk to CMs from the UK, Japan, Morocco, and France. The Japanese girls giggle at you when you practice your Nihon-go. It's so kawaii!

There is alot that you can do at EPCOT and it is a good way to enlighten the kiddies. Most of the countries have an attraction that highlights the culture and history of that foreign land, with most of the pavilions having updated their original films. Future world has gotten more rides since it first opened but there are still some exhibits that entertain and teach different sciences. Along with that, every pavilion has food from that particular country; only NYC has the same wide selection of worldly cuisines. And I think Illuminations is the best end of day fireworks show at WDW.

I LOVE Epcot as well, though I do miss a lot of what "use to be". I love to stroll around the countries. I love walking through the Land and other pavilions and the music played throughout.... the fountain of nations, LOVE it! The music gives me chills and makes my eyes well up with tears! and of course Space Ship Earth! I have a four year old - she has been there each year since she has been 2..... though I would love to spend a day alone with my husband there. I would not go to Disney World and miss a trip to EPCOT.....

I agree with most everything good said about EPCOT (my favorite park). A lot of well deserved positive comments on the Future World section (and I agree that The Land has the best counter food service - probably in WDW).

I wanted to say that you should allow time to see many of the 'shows' in World Showcase - especially Norway, China, Canada, and France. These films really do a good job of bringing you closer to the people of each country.

And a must see in EPCOT is 'The American Adventure'. By far the best show maybe in WDW - not because I am a proud American but the show story is moving and the technology used is amazing -best audioanimatronics in WDW.

Have fun!
