I'm always going on and on about how I consider Sanaa to be the best restaurant at WDW that is not a signature restaurant, so I thought I'd ask what everyone else...

What is your favorite WDW restaurant is that is NOT a signature restaurant?

Agree with you on Sanaa. My other favorites are Via Napoli and Kona Cafe (for breakfast/brunch/lunch...didn't love their dinner menu).

Sorry, I'm now to be forums. What is the difference in a Signature and Non-Signature restaurant?

Hello and welcome to the forum! :)

I don't know if Disney gives a technical definition for what a 'signature restaurant' is, but WDW does create this classification which it uses for its top-notch restaurants, which I assume it considers to be fine dining and the best of the restaurants on property. These also tend to be the most expensive restaurants on property.

You can find a list of WDW signature restaurants here:

So hard to pick just one! Sanaa is definitely up there.

Believe it or not, the best food (not ambiance or service) we ever had, anywhere, signature included, was at the Wave. I had this rock shrimp and muscle pasta dream and my husband had some sort of apple pork dish. We still talk about the food from there.

Another HUGE thumbs up goes to the Maya Grill. Amazing service and food time after time.

Sorry there are way too many to choose just one. How about an 8 way tie between,
Kona Café
Grand Floridian Café
Whispering Canyon Café
Trail’s End
Biergarten
Plaza Restaurant
50’s PTC
Captain’s Grille

We haven't tried Sanaa yet.

Well that was news to me, I just knew it wasnt on the DDP and the prices never seemed signature to me.

Honestly, I didn't know it was on the signature list either until I looked it up just when making this post. I knew Bluezoo was, but I didn't think Il Mulino was, but it is in fact on the list.

I agree that there are too many to name just one.
Our favs are:
O'hana
Maya Grille
BOG
1900 Park Fare
Tutto Italia
Les Chefs de France
Beaches and Cream
50s Prime Time
Tusker House (breakfast)

Now I am hungry and want to eat at one of them.

O'hana was easily our favorite.

Also Coral Reef & San Angel Inn. The Wave of Contemporary Flavors wasn't bad either if you want sit down and didn't plan an ADR.

Least favorite: Garden Grill. I found it overpriced and not great food even before the restaurant stopped rotating.

Sad to hear this about Garden Grill. I've never been there before and have an ADR for it for an upcoming trip in September. I cancelled the ADR when I heard it stopped rotating and then re-made the ADR when I heard it was rotating again, and now just having mixed feelings about the place in general based on reviews and comments I've heard and read.

I'm not going in with too high of expectations for the food, but was looking forward to the scenes from The Land attraction during the meal (which is why the rotating was a big issue for me).

I think Garden Grill is great. Good food, good service, and great character interaction.

My new favorite non-signature is Grand Floridian Café. The food has always been outstanding during our visits. I am also a big fan of Kona Café.

our favorite is Kona Cafe. They hav a great menu with any different items, sushi, and great desserts. A close second is Mama Melrose, great atmosphere, Fantasmic package, and the food is pretty good for WDW Italian.
