Young Solo traveller

Hello, this is my first submission, so I hope this topic isn't too repetitive. I am 25 and would like to travel to WDW by myself in April 2004. I'm wondering, though, does the park do anything for solo travellers, and for all of those who have travelled solo before, any advice for a young lady on travelling to the park alone?
thanks, J

You can get in the single rider lines at some rides, but I think thats about all they do for the single person. Youll have a blast though, travelling alone there is actually really fun. Where do you plan on staying?

I have gone with family, I have gone with friends, and I have gone alone, all three are different experiences, and are all great in their own way. Going alone means that you can be super selfish and go anywhere you want, anytime you want. I find myself actually doing less when I am by myself, and doing a lot of people watching, and at WDW people watching is a fascinating exercise, so much to see. I'll take the monorail just for the ride, rather than to go somewhere. Shows and fireworks are great when you are by yourself, it is easier to get a good seat or viewing location. I will sometimes go to a park just for one ride, something that would never happen with family or friends.

The only part I don't like is eating alone at many of the restaurants that I enjoy with my family. The ones to stay away from are fancy sit down types (Citricos, California grille etc.). So pick places that have some entertainment value or a place that has you eating with others, like the Sushi bar in Japan, or at the picnic tables at the Biergarten.

I was actually looking into staying at a hostel, if there are any near by ~ I am looking into it right now. I am trying to see if there are some good ones, otherwise, I may just stay cloeby. I am a student and want to go as a treat to myself for making it through a hard year :) But, accomodation I am still unsure about...

Well, if cost is an issue, and you want to meet some interesting people, theres a hostel down there you can stay at, but, its pretty tight quarters, and cheap.

Also, look into camping out at Fort wilderness, thats what Ill be doing my next trip down I think.

I've been to WDW three times. The first time with a friend,
the second time by myself, and the third time with my family
(5 adults and 1 child).

The trip by myself is, to this day, my favorite vacation that I've
taken. You do what you want, when you want. No compromising.
You walk at your own pace. You don't have to wait around for anyone.

Take advantage of the single lines. Test Tracks has one. I'm
forgetting what other attractions have them.

If you don't like eating by yourself at a sit-down restaurant, just
go to any of the counter service restaurants.

I've felt safe at WDW each time I've been there. The only part
of WDW I've read about that has had trouble is Downtown
Disney. Some of the problems may have been a result of
drinking. Also, Downtown Disney is also open to the public
(that is, there is no fee to go to the Marketplace or West Side).
So, you may run into people who you wouldn't run into at the
theme parks.

Have fun.

J,

I have been to the parks about 20 times, but never on my own. I think it would be fun though. As stated, people watching would be fun, and I think you could take more time to check out the details more that when you are with someone else. Sometimes others don't want to just look at a building or wait while you take the perfect picture. The only thing I would be wary about it if you go to Pleasure Island in Downtown Disney. As stated by another, there are people there that are not WDW guests but rather people who are just going to the bars (nice bars). There is nothing wrong with that, we have had some fun times in PI. Just being a woman alone there you should be a little watchful. Also as stated, look for places to eat that have some fun or interaction. If it were me, on the day or days you do EPCOT, I would eat all day at World Showcase rather than sit down to eat lunch and dinner. I would try to taste a little of everything.

Other than that, just enjoy yourself, it is a great place to have fun. Have fun and be safe.

Have you been to WDW before?
