I understand your distinction, and I agree with it. However, I'd still say the vast majority of posts are of a negative nature, regardless of the reasoning.
Well there is that but I find if you don't make that distinction then people assume you a 'pixie duster' and it just becomes a circular argument which achieves very little. I try to always be a positive type of person, a glass half full guy if you will. Certainly when my wife and I visit Disney we go there to enjoy it, it's not something we have to work at either we just love the place. We don't go around looking for broken light bulbs, searching for chipped paint, hoping to spot a none working AA or desperate to find a dirty bathroom. If we do see something which we feel isn't 'Disney standard' we're quite realistic about it and only let it bother us as much as it warrants it. For instance if I see an unflushed toilet that smells bad I'll think "I hope that's not been like that for ages and the custodial hasn't deliberately left it" rather than decide it shows that Disney doesn't care and consciously decide to let it ruin our trip and think and talk of nothing else.I understand your distinction, and I agree with it. In 18 days, I'll be at Magic Kingdom with my son, and regardless of how much negativity the parks, management, Genie+, Lightning Lanes, new shows, new rides, and everything else is receiving, YOU CAN'T GET ME DOWN!
I've been going to WDW since the 80's and have full reference points for everything that's changed and been added and taken away, but this will be my son's first real trip where he isn't a baby. I've dreamed about this since I decided to have kids! So even with all of the negativity and extra costs, there is SO MUCH for me to be excited about! I'll be rolling with the punches, figuring out the new systems, and just soaking in all that it means to be in Disney World and, especially, for him to be in Disney World.
And better yet, he's only three going on four, so he doesn't know a thing about all of the negativity everyone else is spreading. REVIEWS BE DARNED! HE'S GOING TO SEE MICKEY MOUSE AND THE CASTLE! GUYS! DID YOU KNOW MICKEY MOUSE LIVES THERE?! AND THERE'S A CASTLE?!!!
Come on, November 9th!!!
I agree with you though sadly character breakfasts haven't returned to those two restaurants as of yet.I hope you have fun. Do a character breakfast. For kids I would suggest the Crystal Palace, (Pooh & Friends), or the Garden Grill at the Land in Epcot. (Mickey, Chip & Dale and Pluto) The whole experience will be what you make it. Enjoy!
I wouldn't disagree. Things aren't back to normal yet.We are leaving tomorrow and we had fun! Cast members great, we found Genie + easy to use, not too crowded..
But I will say we did notice the effects of the pandemic more than I expected to - merchandise shortages, certain wines not in stock, reduced hours at some restaurants, waving at characters in the distance, our busses were awful...
We had fun, but we go every few years.
I would tell someone going for first trip to wait maybe until 2023...
Reading this post made me very happy. In 18 days, I'll be at Magic Kingdom with my son, and regardless of how much negativity the parks, management, Genie+, Lightning Lanes, new shows, new rides, and everything else is receiving, YOU CAN'T GET ME DOWN!

Phenomenal post. Great perspective.Hope you and your family love every second. Having our last 2 trips cancelled (should be there now) we've booked for next March. On here you'll find a minority of people who seem to delight at finding stuff to be negative and complain about. There's also many though who love Disney and want the best experience for their money and don't feel currently that's the case and express that.
Personally I find that when we go there's plenty about Disney to still love and get excited about. It's a case of knowing what you enjoy doing and doing it trying to ignore those telling you how bad everything is. Perhaps it is for them, but that doesn't mean it has to be for you. It can be annoying with the odd poster seemingly putting everything down on seemingly every thread, however that shouldn't stop you enjoying your trip as their opinion is just their opinion.
Have a great time.
Thanks for the feedback! This trip was unexpected - not quite last minute, but much more last minute than a typical Disney World trip I would plan. And since it's been so long, I'm happy for whatever time I can have there. We are leaving tomorrow and we had fun! Cast members great, we found Genie + easy to use, not too crowded..
