You’ll need a secret identity and super powers to get a job in Disney’s new Marvel land - OCR/SCNG

Bingo!

That point had been bugging me as well, put I couldn't put my finger on it like you just did.

If Kyle from Tustin working the churro cart is actually the Tustin Tornado (with many thanks to @SSG for keeping tabs on Kyle's career) and his dorky manager checking his stock is actually Captain Dockers, then the whole premise for the land seems to fall apart. Everyone isn't special, everyone isn't a hero, everyone doesn't have superpowers.

I can't imagine this concept was fleshed out beyond the lower executive levels in Anaheim. I can't imagine the Marvel folks bought off on this creatively, because as you say it goes against the basic tenets of the Marvel world.

But what I can imagine is that this Everyone Is Super! concept was fleshed out by TDA's apparently clueless training department and their communications teams. The same people who put these silly videos together that claim that "Every Role Is A Starring Role!" at Disneyland, because they are trying to hire youngsters who were constantly told they were very special, very talented, and that their entire generation was above average.

There's a hundred of these videos, covering nearly every mundane and average job at Disneyland.

So if every Cast Member is a STAR!, and no one has an average job or merely a supporting role, then certainly everyone is a Superhero and is very, very special. Which makes all of that meaningless and pointless.

once again...the article in the OP by @Darkbeer1 was exclusively referring to a small team of test & adjust CMs:
Disney used a novel job hiring process to select the 35-member Avengers Campus test-and-adjust team that works with Walt Disney Imagineering to prepare the attractions for opening day and train the Disney cast members who will work in the new Marvel land.
no mention of hourly CMs here. even if the hourly CMs were forced into this annoying practice (which absolutely could happen!), they could go the route of each CM being an “agent of SHIELD” who is there to help the avengers or whatever. either way, it’s a little early to be throwing those stones, right?

Maybe I'm just naïve but I'm generally of the mindset that every person, from every generation, from any walk of life is special and has the ability to do great things. I don't see anything wrong with encouraging that mindset. We are, after all, all unique and have more power than we realize to contribute to the world around us or make it a better place.

But I understand the mindset regarding the roleplaying here, I feel like it made more sense in Batuu especially since Star Wars has a long history of turning seemingly random or meaningless background characters into characters with their own story arcs at some point (heck, look up Willow Hood!). I think in general though, I agree that it may be a bit much in the Marvel area but like others have said before this post, do we really have any confirmation that they're actually going to try and get all hourly CM's to come up with backstories and pretend they're super heroes? Or was this just a more involved hiring process that they used to bring in some leadership to the land and score some publicity at the same time? I'd probably be guessing the latter.

Even though it may be a bit much to ask CM's to come up with super hero names and personas (if that's even what is going to happen in the end) especially when they are sharing space with more household names, I still believe each of them actually do have the ability to create magic and turn any role they work (no matter how mundane or small) into a starring one. But whether or not they choose to act on that mindset is up to them. Disney is an "at will" employer so if you choose to be there, love what you do and others will notice! I'm not saying there won't be off days, but there is always a chance to be a "star" for CMs. We all have that ability in every action we take in our day to day lives, we can all make a difference or make this world a brighter place, if we choose to.

I said everyone has the ability to, not that everyone does. The important part is that folks know that they can make a difference, if they choose to. Again, not everyone does. But every person on this planet has the ability to, the choice to be special is theirs.

But when it comes to the shop clerks and ride operators and kids working at the snack bar, I just need them to be well groomed, polite, friendly and efficient. Just focus on that please and leave the acting and special skills to the professionals.
Or.. Well groomed , polite , friendly and efficient cast members singing "Let it go!" As they charge your credit card $10 for a muffin?
