I'll say this much...he doesn't have horns.

And he ain't 50 feet tall.

I think somewhere down the line, someone heard 15 or so and misunderstood it to be 50.

Fruit by the Foot

At 17 feet, the Yeti will be about the same size as those stuffed green aliens that Universal Studios park guests win at the carnival games and carry around for the rest of the day.

As long as the Yeti is taller than the Mummy, I'll be happy.

Darn, and I was hoping for a Yeti T shirt that reads... "Size does matter". Maybe they'll have one that reads..."It's not the size of my audioanamatronic, but rather the motion on my imagineering". :lookaroun

That would be an awesome t-shirt idea.

And I like the idea of a 17 ft Yeti better than a 50 ft one. 50Ft is unrealistic, and entirely to big (overdone) anyways. 17 feet is pretty darn tall.

Indeed, I don't see why people are squinnying for? It is still over three times the size of the average human. Plus you'll be sitting down, so it will seem bigger still.

The smaller the size, the easier it will be to work on him. So it will mean more up time for him. If he was 50 ft tall it would take a crane to work on him. and being inside a mountain that would be hard to do. So a smaller size fits in better and easier to maintain, there is going to be a built in high-reach there anyway just to work on him.

When Audio-Animatronics get that big anyway, it is more like working on a tractor or rear end loader anyway. With just skin pulled over them.

I hope he doesn't go the way of the dinosaurs at Dinosaur, they are all falling apart and half the functions are turned off. Pretty soon they will be static figures with audio.

There's NO 17 ft. highly advanced (as you call it) Animatronic in R & D in Glendale... And the biggest one is still a dino...
He is actually able to walk around and he's huge.
Sorry, again not true...
No animatron this big has ever walked before.
There are still only 2 animatronics who can really walk... And yhe Yeti is NOT one of them...
He also "interacts" with the trains. :)
Where the heck did you heard that one.... (sigh), anyway... you've been head...At this moment WDI is creating a Yeti with a moving jaw, eyes and arms.... the body (if any) is static...And about the interacting with the trains, depends what you call interacting...

BTW.
Do you really think if there was such a unique animatronic, your friend would tell you and risk his job??
He signed a Non-Disclosure Agreement... Breaking this would put him liable to prosecution, In Any case, You almost pointed him out, (Job. Assignment) you're a good friend...
People have been fired for less...

Well, he told me I could do this... I kept asking him about all of that, and he assures me he is in no danger of loosing his job.

I do have a question on you though, now that you know my background, do you mind telling me yours? Just curious. I always respect members that have been here for as long as you have. With that in mind, please don't shoot the messenger. My friend told me the Yeti is very unique, and that he has already seen the animatron, as it is here in Florida. He even told me about a problem they had with it a bit ago as the skin was falling off. My friend knows way to much to not be an imagineer. Either he was asked to leak things, (Not sure if that's something WDI does) is telling the truth and risking his job as you call it, or he's simply giving me completely false information. There is no question that he is in fact an imagineer though. So, if you'd like to point me in the right direction, I'd be very greatful. :)
