Yet another Everest Thread

I was wondering how intense the drop is...would it be too much for someone with a fear of heights. My wife has a great phobia of heights...but she also has a curiosity as well.

Even though I grew up on Disney while I lived in Florida...I took her on her 1st trip last year. Is the drop comparable to Splash mountain...that was one of her favs.

However she gave Thunder mountain a chance and hated it...she would not try any other Disney coasters after that...She also surprised me..and pushed to ride TOT...even though I tried to steer her away...I figured an elevator that lost control would not be a good experience for someone with a height fear. She actually really enjoyed the ride...except for the final drop that came with our sequence...that was too much...she said she would never ride TOT again, but was glad she experienced it.

Given all that..i was curious how she might react to Everest?

I hate heights, am totally terrified of them. I did ride EE 4 times during the preview and the first time I couldn't look down as we were going up but after that I looked "out" and I saw some of my fav WDW landmarks. That's what I concentrated on. As for going down...the drop is different then SpM because it's curved so to me it wasn't as bad as SpM. Soarin' bothered me at first as well so I look "out" on that ride too.

The drop is fast and steep, but not "intense" in my mind. The fear of hieghts may come more into play going up the big lift hill, it's slower and you go quite high. I was a bit off-put by that the firs couple of rides, by the tenth, I was looking down at the helix hoping to see a train go around it.

It's hard to say how someone else will react, she should try... It's a safe ride, really!

Thank's for the couple of responses...it does not sound so bad...it will probably be the anticipation more then everything else.

For those of you who have read my review and know that I'm not a fan of drops, let me update. Saturday morning I was brave and put my hands up during the big drop!

After the fact I wondered why people put their hands up on roller coasters...:veryconfu
