Yes, I actually turned down Disney

Hey, just thought I would throw this out there and see what kind of a response I got... I got offered a job at Disney with the college program and I turned them down. I am having more fun with college. Besides I don't want to miss school for half a year. Hopefully I will bypass the college program when I have my interview with Imagineering... in a week or so... when I get to Florida... maybe I'll snoop around Imagineering and report back on any projects... the guy I know wants to sit down with me and brainstorm on somethings... that's what he told me... I don't know what that means though. I'll report anything interesting if you guys want.

Whatever floats your boat!

I personally think you're crazy though! :p

How can you possibly be having more fun at college than WDW?!

Oh well...
I'll have my chance and believe me I WONT pass it up!
You do know there is an imagineering internship? You can only participate in it in your junior and senior yaers of college though...and its tough to get in to. Participating in that CP would have given you a step up with experience in the Disney company and possibly some conections to make your imagineering dream more likely to come true.

I'm just saying the truth here...for someone who is so eager to work for the disney company...you made an extremely stupid move. The CP might have given your resume the extra umph it needs to get you a job with WDI.

Well, from what my dude told me, it wasn't really an internship... closer to a job than an internship. Believe me, I have no idea how in the heck I stumbled upon this ... but my guy seems to think I got the goods... hopefully... but as it is I will be having a lunch with the head of imagineering casting... or someone like that ... whoever that is .. at least that's the inital plan at this point. we'll see

Well..I know TONS of people who turned down opportunities to work for Disney...they either got scared by the contract (which is truely a scary document) or by the fact that they would be doing B*tch work for 2 years before they actually got noticed...

Wagner,
I took a job with the college program and they passed around my resume and I actually got asked to participate in an internship. So I got a "promotion" before even working there, and I made excellent connections in my department and other departments and could probably get a job when I am done with school. I think that you sjould have taken the CP job just so that you can have your foot in the door with Disney.

I´m not sure you did totally wrong.... If you want to finish College before going to Disney, that´s fine. I know it is hard to go back to school after the Disney experience, so maybe you can wait and ask for a position on your last semester or just after it, I´m not sure how the rule is. Even better, apply for the International Programs which in my opinion are more fun.

I would suggest you not to put your hopes so high on your friend. I know Imagineering is a very tough group to enter, so I wish you all the luck!

Whatever you do is right. You never know how things may turn anyways, and I think that focusing on finish College is an admirable thing too. You can always go back to Disney and tell them you were hired, but had to refuse the job at that time because of school. That speaks good of you too. :animwink:

The easiest way to get an internship at Imagineering would be to have contacts there....they get TONS of submissions every few months and without a certain "push"...a normal resume would just get lost in the pile...

I would definatly not pass up the chance if you have the opportunity to work at WDI...from what I hear..95% of the interns end up being offered full time positions,...and thats not a shabby place to be...
