Anyone else heard that free dining offered this year is only for Quick service no matter where you are staying. I just got off the phone with disney and this is what the girl hinted to. It is fine cause I would only pay 238 for all of us to dine regular. Just wondering if any of you have heard it or if you would like to call and see what the person at Disney says??? Thank s

and those of you who are annoyed by the whole " free dining " thing just ignore this your comments are not needed or those of you who will say " we will hear this free dining crap until it is announced " just skip it too. Please I really don't need the crap. Just trying to figure out what to do and how to budget for my family of 6 this year. NO DISRESPECT!!! OK thanks :veryconfu

I have heard the rumor - but only from lurking around on the boards. :lookaroun

I have been offered many Free QS PIN codes for the fall - which would lead me to believe that only QS will be offered - but you never know.

We are going to Disney for the first time towards end of August. I just got an email today saying that they are offering free dining but it ends in July. My AAA agent keeps telling me to be patient, they will be offering one for end of summer/fall-well she feels very strongly in this, no guarantees. I too am trying to get free dining passes!! It would help us immensely-as it would anyone I guess..Anyway I guess we need to keep our eyes and ears open....
Good luck to both of us!!

Well, unfortunately, we really won't know for sure until it's announced. It's a common question that's asked multiple times each year at this time. And every year the answer is the same: we have to wait and see.

With that said, the Quick Service Dining Plan was introduced last year. But the free dining promotion for the Aug/Sept value season still offered the regular Dining Plan option for all. (At least for those booking in the US)

Keep in mind that if they only offer the Quick Service Dining Plan as the free option this year, you can always pay the difference to upgrade to the regular Dining Plan if it is really important to you.

In any case, this is all hypothetical... until Disney announces it officially, it's all just theory.

Last year I thought they offer the whole free dining not just quick service. I guess I was mistaken.I had stayed last year on a bounce back offer so all of the dining was included.

I will pay the upgrade. I am still saving money in the end. Just might have to change where we r staying and no waterpark option this year. Which is probably not bad since they are crowded anyway that time of year ( Sept) . I will wait. I just have been hearing a little talk and it gets you worried ! LOL

Thanks

They actually offered both. In the US free dining included the regular Disney Dining plan regardless of where you stayed. For UK guests they took a tiered approach depending on where you stayed. Value resort guests got the QS plan and moderate and above got the regular plan. All of which could be upgraded for just the difference in price.

And as nepalostparks pointed out we simply do not know what they will do. All of it is just rumor at this point based partially on what Disney has done in the past. The CM's at the DRC don't know, the agents at AAA don't know, and the other Disney TA's do not know for sure what is in the pipeline for Disney promotions.

I got a pin code the other day for free QS dining thru July for all resort levels. Then I just read a post on the Trip Planning thread that a poster had booked a deluxe resort and the CM said that since he was using the free QS dining pin code, he could upgrade to either the regular or deluxe dining plans at half price.

Can you add dining on to a reservation? Like if I book my trip for august and then later they advertise free dining (any of the plans) during that time...can I call and have them add that on and it would be free?

Again, I know...all speculation until its announcement BUT I too and just preparing!

thanks

If they offer free dining, and if there are any rooms available for your dates for the promotion, yes, Disney will let you add on the free dining. I would keep an eye out and call the first day of the promotion to add it to your existing vacation, as the offer is not infinite for all dates at all resorts.

Providing you reservation qualifies for the term of the promotion (which most will) yes.
