Yeah. They found my hat.

I lost my "Disney's Beach Club Resort" hat the night of May 17th, either at Beaches and Cream or on Soarin'. I don't remember having it on or not having it on. The next morning I inquired at YC Guest Services and they made me fill out a form and she called around. I didn't want to make a big deal of it. It's just a hat. They even called my room the next day to say it wasn't found. We left on the 19th.

I was going to buy another one (I'd actually bought it in December) but thought best not to just in case - so I got an Indy one instead. Well, my hat showed up in the mail today, twelve days later to Canada. I was very surprised. Excellent service for them to do that - just for an easily replaceable hat. It came from Theme Parks so it must have been Soarin'. So now I have two baseball caps, which is fine as it's going to be a long hot summer - I hope!

I lost my hat on Splash and had to fill out a form then... never saw it again apart from looking behind me on the spillway, but I didn't figure they could find it (or want to) anyway.

Great to hear they even sent it that far to you. :D

Just everday Disney magic

I lost a cap on Primeval Whirl, imagine that! It was a purple baseball cap with "Disney" across the front in rainbow colored thread. It hasn't been sold for years but was one of my favorites to take with me to the parks to wear. I checked at guest relations and they called back to the attraction. It was closing time but a cast member walked the track and found it and got it back to me.

My daughter lost her cell phone on Expedition Everest. After getting off she realized it was missing was freaking out. She was more concerned about losing her contact list on the phone than the phone. I told her not to worry and lead her back to guest relations assuring her that we'd get it back reminding her about my lost cap.

By the time we got to guest relations and described the phone the cast member when into the back room and brought it out. The phone had made it to lost and found quicker than we could get there. Disney cast members are the greatest.

That's one thing that still amazes me. What can seem like a half-mile trek on stage is just next door back stage.

Wow! I just find that amazing with the cell phone. Just by the nature of the logistics of theme park operations with thousands of guests and thousands of cast members would make that seem unrealistic.

Kudos to that legendary Disney service! Perhaps the YOAMD has sparked cast members to "want and strive" to bring that back like the good old days.

That happened to my sister a few years ago to. She managed to lose not one but two pairs of glasses on Dinosaur. We let Guest Relations know and two days later they found them after walking the track. Thank you Disney!

One of the younger relatives lost a camera on the last day. We didn't realize this until we got home. Their parents are pretty disney illiterate but gave me the task to try to track it down. I got on here asked if anyone knew the phone #. We got it and called and told them what it was and where we last had it, and then gave them our address. About a week later a package came from Disney with the disposable camera in it. It made his summer when he found out he didn't lose his first camera for good!

That is the stuff that sets Disney apart, I mean it was a freaking DISPOSABLE CAMERA! who would have thought they would keep that tucked away for a week or two?

DH lost TOT hat on Test Track a few years ago. He was directed to lost and found and filled out the forms. No-one contacted us before we left and we forgot about it, until 4 months later it arrived in the post!

It arrived in Newcastle, England after a trip via Canada!

The cap was completely undamaged.

We couldn't believe that Disney went to all that trouble, but I guess that what makes it all so special.:sohappy:

A few years ago we left a small bag of souveniers on the bus while going back to our resort. We told guest services at our resort what was in the bag and which bus we had been on. A few weeks later it showed up at my fiancee's house in Canada. We were shocked that someone was honest and turned it in and that they mailed it right to us. Quite the nice surprise :)

That's great, they do go the extra mile.

When we were there in Dec they broke one of our luggage bag wheels. The bell person called the boss they checked it out and determined they couldn't fix it and then they replaced it with a Disney bag that was better than the one we had.

Also someone from Mass. not to long ago lost their wedding and engagement rings in the trash and some of the Cast Members actual dug thru the trash and found it for them.

They are really good and one of the reasons many people keep going back.

lost camera

On our last trip in September 2007, my wife left her VERY expensive camera on the Disney bus, as the 9 of us were riding from AK to the Contemporary for dinner at Chef Mickey's. We realized she left it on the bus about 30 seconds after we got off the bus. I turned around and ran for the bus to try to get the driver to stop, but he didn't see me.

My wife was distraught. We went to guest relations, told them what happened and gave them a description of the camera and bag. They made a few phone calls to try and track it down (took about a 1/2 hour total). My wife was crying, not so much about the lost camera, but all of the lost pictures saved on the memory card. Nearby CM's noticed how upset my wife was and came over to entertain our two kids by giving them pins and just keeping them pre-occupied while my wife balled at the happiest place on earth. Talk about trying to make the best of a bad situation!

All the CM's could do at that point was tell us that they would try to track it down. They told us to check with our resort desk (Pop Century) later that evening. So we went ahead to dinner at Chef Mickey's.

My wife's favorite restaurant is Chef Mickey's, but she was so upset at the loss of her camera, that she couldn't enjoy our character meal. She felt awful, and I felt awful for her.

After our meal, we went back to our hotel (Pop Century) and checked at the front desk for her camera. Wouldn't you know it, they had it, and not one single thing was missing from the camera or bag. They handed it back to my wife and she beamed! We just couldn't believe it! I've never seen such a happy look on her face!

Prior to this event, I loved Disney very much. But it was right then and there that I realized that I will be returning to WDW for many years to come. They truly take care of you.

They really do go the extra mile. A few years ago, my wife lost her sunglasses on a ride (I can't remember which one). Anyway, she contacted WDW after we got home with a description, and several weeks later we got a package. The funny part was that the sunglasses looked very much like hers, but were not hers (Ray-Bans, but a slightly different model). We figured it would be too much trouble to send them back, etc. - just hope that somewhere someone else received a slightly different model of Ray-Bans than they lost...

Yay for Disney going the extra mile to find your hat - and SEND it to you! :sohappy:

Not to be seem like I'm raining on a parade, but a LOT of places would do this. I am glad the OP got his hat back, but to attribute it alone to Disney as having going the extra mile is a bit simplistic. Legally, most states require businesses that, once an item is reported lost, they must return it to the owner if it is found. There are procedures in place if the owner is not known, and vary based on an appraised value of the item lost. Believe it or not, it is actually a crime to fail to report lost items to the police.

However, that won't negate any extra miles Disney went to find it, i.e., if it didn't just turn up one day during routine work, but rather, they found it because they continued to look for it. Either way, at least they knew to keep an eye out for it and the OP got his hat back!

Right.
There are examples in this thread in which Disney really did go above and beyond what was required...looking through trash, attempting to bring smiles to distraught guests, returning items that weren't even reporting missing, etc. That extra bit that makes Disney Disney.
