I don't use Internet Explorer, I poo on it. Every so often I open IE to look at a site or download something using "Leechget". I noticed that some words are links now to "NtSearch.com" or something like that. I ran "Ad-aware" and used "HijackThis!". What's a poor man to do?!

If your browser is redirecting itself to pages even when you don't want it to, then the problem may be more serious than spyware.

Some minor viruses and trojans, do such things. In that case, run an updated virus scan right away (Norton and Normand are my personal favs. Much better than Mcafee).

If that's not the case, as Barnum so expertly suggested, run spy bot. I have both adware and spy bot. Both in conjunction seem to do the trick.:)

....or pull on your latex gloves, and go in manually.

I have found that sometimes all of the above his missed things, so I Googled the particular spyware, and found removal instructions. It usually involves, killing the process, deleting the registry references, deleting the program directory, reseting IE properties, and rebooting.

Thank you to all who responded...I, however have another question. The program "HijackThis!" lets you delete things that could harm your computer that are hard to find. So I deleted "RunDLL" one time, because it looked suspicious. Now I get an error message every 30 seconds that says:
RUNDLL
Error Loading C:\PROGRA~1\INTERN~2\inet.kw.dll
The specific module cannot be found

Speaking of Spybot... I downloaded that, and it failed to download completley... now I'm stuck with this uninstaller that won't work and an icon that won't delete... anyone know how I can get rid of it?

Oh, and when I downloaded Spybot, it also gave me Alexa. Nice! Thankfully I had Ad-Aware to help me.

Thats what I do. I also have McAfee running, it found thing Norton didn't.
Guess we all have our favorites.

I got hijacked and it changed my homepage & altered the setting on my computer so I couldn't change back.
