Yak & Yeti-Underrated?

I never seem to hear people mention the Yak & Yeti when discussing the best TS offerings at WDW, but, I personally would rank it high on the list. I've been there 3 times-my meal choices were hoisin BBQ ribs, chicken tikka masala and the kobe beef burger, and each meal was delicious. The theming of the restaurant is great, and I find it very relaxing. My DW, DD and I are definitely going to keep making it our first choice for TS at DAK. Does anyone else feel the same about this place? I would rate Y&Y alot higher than some other places that cost you 2 TS credits, ie Cinderella's Royal table, which I thought served fairly mediocre food.

We went there shortly after it first opened and really did not care much for it and have not been back since. We found it to be very overpriced, middle of the road, Asian inspired food.

I can tell you we just went a couple weeks ago and LOVED it, by far the BEST BURGER on all of property, the steak was really good as well, my family loved the Chinese food, great option, especially on the Dining plan

My family really likes Yak & Yeti too. No, it's not a fine Indian restaurant, but the chicken tikka masala is not bad and the Yak Attack is absolutely heavenly on a hot day.

I tell everyone to go there just for a Yak Attack, who cares about the food....

The themeing is decent, if little unambitious, but the food there is bland and pedestrian for pan-asian. Having eaten there once I couldn't justify the price of going back, especially when Animal Kingdom's quick service food options are as good as they are.

Judging by the responses so far, all I can say is that it is definitely a case of personal taste. Then again, I am about as far from from a foodie as you can get-my palate is nowhere near what you would call sophisticated; I just know what I like. I would like to add that, as far as Indian food goes, I liked the Cape Malay curry at Tusker House better than tikka masala at Y&Y.

It definitely falls into 'personal taste' territory, as it's like Asian Rainforest Cafe, which if you want some good ol' American food, not everyone even finds that satisfying.

I've had hits and misses at Y&Y but it brings variety to AK and with such a large menu (like Rainforest) there's bound to be something to speak to most people. There are better options at AK though.

You can find good and bad reviews for every dining spot on property. Guests love and hate food quality, CM service, amount of food, timing of food served, cost and more. WE happen to have had great meals and service there every time we've dined there and its a place we always reserve on our trips. If you like it youll go back, if you dont maybe youll give it a second chance or move on to another spot to try. Disney doesnt seem to have a shortage of guests needing dining spots and tables get filled easily no matter what the reviews.

Y&Y is our do not miss every trip. Skirt steak, shrimp, won ton desert and the mango pie are some of the dishes that keep us returning again and again. It is a beautiful restaurant, most of the furnishings including the large staircase were brought here from Rohde's travels.

For us, it was the cost to quality ratio.

When I go to a place like Outback and spend a meager $14 on a 6oz sirloin I am getting a dinner whose cost and quality are in line. The same thing is true if I spend $72 on the 20 oz fillet at Charley's.

The food we got at Yak and Yeti was fine it just cost way more than is should have for the quality we got even when you took into account for the "Disney tax". When there are so many other options where the cost and quality are more inline, there is just no reason to go back.

I want there about 2 weeks after it opened, and it was horrible. Bad service and food. I have recenty gone back twice over the last two years, and I have to give it a solid rating now. Much better service and food.

As for pricing, it's WDW - everything is overpriced. I use a seperate set of criteria (a lower set) when judging WDW restaruants.

One nice perk about Y&Y is that it is a Landry's location, so if you are a club member, you can go without an ADR.

The food we got was on par with a typical "Wok n Roll" style place. I think we would have been happy had it been up to your typical sit down Asian restaurant standards.

In a nut shell, we got a QS meal at a TS price.

Eaten there several times. While it's not a 4 or 5 star Asian restaurant, we've never had a bad meal. The Korean ribs are very good.

I think that another thing that draws us back to the Y&Y is that, judging by the menus at the other TS restaurants in DAK, Y&Y has food that more closely resembles food that we can get at a restaurant that doesn't specialize in "foreign" food. None of us are that adventurous when it comes to food, and there are some items at Tiffins or Tusker House that we aren't really sure what is in them, and do not want to use a TS credit or a decent amount of $ on something that we probably won't like.
