Haven't seen this posted elsewhere, but the Yak and Yeti restaurant should open in October, as construction is set to be complete by the second week.

I wonder when they'll start taking ressies?

I have to say, this must be one of the worst names for a restaurant anywhere in the resort. I mean, a restaurant with the word "Yak" in its name? :hurl:

I wonder if they will keep Tusker House open a little longer because of this. I thought orginally this was going to open in August.

It actually might take longer then expected, i heard construction may take until November, with first reservations for the week before thanksgiving.

Anyone know if the food will be all Asian-inspired?

Sounds like a stupid question, it's in Asia after all, but I figured that maybe AK's crown restaurant might need a bit of variety to get it to be as popular as they seem to want it to be (i.e. a reason for guests to stay late in AK)

From what was reported it will be Asian fusion but I am sure we can expect some of the traditional Disney kid fare as well.

Merf, do you ever sleep?

By the looks of the pics we have seen it is going fairly slow. Originally the dates were coinciding with Tusker House closure and now if the opening is pushed back to October/November this could be a problem. I don't know if the other CS restaurants have the capacity to cover the loss.

Just saw it on Saturday and Sunday and they've progressed a LOT in the past few weeks. The second floor is up and all the windows are installed, and they had just started working on interior work. All of the kitchen equipment was being put in place at the same time too.

Despite "yak" having a prominent negative association (is this still true, I really only ever hear people my parents' age and older using the term...is it dying out?), I think together with Yeti, it will be alright. Especially if they come up with an interesting back story for the restaurant (I haven't heard anything about this yet...anyone?). Anyone have current construction pics?

No, most likely November. Have you seen what the building looks like, at least 3 months away from just the building being finished.
That's what I figured. I'll just have to catch it on my next trip down. Hopefully a menu will be available before long though. I'd just like to see what the offerings will be.

I hope October, I will be there the 9-14th.

I'll be there at that time too! :sohappy:

On the bright side, the exterior of the building may be finished by then and the wall down. It is going to be a cool new structure.

I agree with you, but man, that image is about the ugliest Yak I've ever seen. It looks like some of the stray alley yaks that run around here eating out of dumpsters. It doesn't have the nice coat that domesticated house yaks have, and it looks frail.

...It could just be a Yak in the Spring :king:

Here is the tough Yak I figure they'll use for the restaurant:

Or this, maybe
