If anyone has an extra moment could you please go to the above link and sign the petition. The only modern rock radio station in the city was taken off the market on Thursday without any warning. I know everybody around here is skeptical about petitions, but evidently this worked in Baltimore and brought WFHS back to a different frequency. I just need someone half decent to listen to so if you could please help.
thanks -Tim

we just got XM. it's so much better than the regular radio. there's 4 or 5 modern rock stations with no comercials.
And a lot of music you would never hear on the regular radio.

Except you have to pay hundreds of dollars to buy the equipment and then more money a month! Completely worthless and it doesn't even work!

XM does rock, you will get to hear music you normally wouldn't hear on FM. Took me about a week to get used to it, but now I like it.

As for Y100, I haven't listened to it in a while, since I am in central NJ, but isn't 94.1 and WMMR similar music?

I knew Preston and Steve were going to MMR ( :sohappy: ), but I was totally floored when I put on 100 Friday morning and heard the garbage that was coming out of my radio  My drive to work is only about 20-25 and I wanted to hear some of P&S last 100 show, and next thing I know it's another freakin rap and hip hop station. Just what the Philly radio market needs, another rap station. Apparantely P&S saw this coming and thats why they let their contract run out. Did anyone hear any of the interviews Pierre did on MMR with any of the former 100'ers ?? If so please share. I'm temporarily working in my companys warehouse and don't have access to a radio.

AND, IS KATHY ROMANO :slurp: GOING TO MMR ALSO ?????? :veryconfu

For the most part yes they are similar. But YSP will play the rap/rock stuff. Kid Rock, Beasties..etc. Personally I don't go to YSP for to long. But I do like when Cousin Ed talks to the receptionist

Actually, I think Pierre is interviewing Preston and Steve on Monday at 10 am. I think on WMMR's web site, there is a banner that says "to find out about Preston and Steve, listen Monday at 10 am."

Something to thing about: Preston and Steve are supposed to start up at WMMR in August, because of a 6 month "no compete" clause in their contract with Y100 (standard item with most DJ's and with TV reporters). Now, because Y100 is basically "no more," I say that the "no compete" clause should be nulled and voided. I guess they didn't sign the contract with the radio station, but with the company that owns the radio station. But still, if the format of their previous station has changed, then why do they need to stay off the air for 6 months then?

I also read that the station owners of Y100, who also own 103.9 moved the format from 103.9 to 100.3 because of better a better antenna (hence bigger area coverage), and right now 103.9 is running a tape loop, and it will be changed to a black gospel station.

****

Personally, I like classic rock, but I'm tired of the "Top 40 Classic Rock" format that a few Philadelphia radio statios have adopted. Why oh why can't they use the format that 96.5 in Orlando uses? I LOVE that station down there!

y100 was good, not as good as WDRE was but the best of what was left
Wysp will play Pink Floyd and Guns N' Roses were y100 would play Flogging Molly And Modest Mouse. Alot of there stuff was similar, but y100 was still more "alternative."

err... not quite

You can get an Delphi Skifi SA5000 (aka, the first XM receiver) for under $50 (http://www.xmfanstore.com/showproduct.php?id=skyfi). I've seen them for $28 before on sale. And then, subscription is only $10/month... if I can afford XM, anyone can.

Not only that, but I refuse to listen to 20 minutes of commercials every hour :D

Y100 was my current favorite. Today my fiance asked me "what's your favorite radio station?" and I answered "y100" so he said, "let's listen to it!" I almost died when I heard it. He was laughing. We're both upset. We'll try the petition!

What ever happened to Barski? I liked him on y100 and i know he jumped around stations, but I don't hear about him anymore!.

We got the myfi which is 350 but it comes with all of the acessories for the car, home, and you can use it like a walkman. We also got no interest for a year on the store credit card. So it comes to like $30 a month. Well worth it to me. If you listen to the regular radio in NYC you hear the same 4 songs every hour.

And for FM radio people in central nj who like hard rock tune to 89.5 . That's my college radio station. It has been rated the #1 college radio station in the country a couple times. I think you can find it on the web search for WSOU

Or you can listen to AM/FM for free and have bad reception, commercials all of the time, stupid dj's name dropping and the 3 bands that they allow you to listen to. And also, edited songs, I don't need to hear beeps or songs that are different than the CD that I already own.

People pay hundreds of dollars for a TV and cable ( my cable bill is over 100 a month with cable modem) but they don't have a problem with that.
Have you ever listened to it, because I said the same thing before I did. It was in our rental car and was the greatest thing.

I'm just curious, why do you say that it doesn't even work?

I have the MyFi also and it is great. I have bad FM reception inside, so listening to the radio inside was never really an option until I got the MyFi. It is also nice to hear different music. Listen to any FM station for more than 2 hours and you will start hearing repeats, not to mention all the damn commercials.
