WWtbaM - Play It!.....what's going on?

I visited the Studios last Sunday and passed by Who Wants to be a Millionaire - Play It!, only to find some changes. There is a wall up around the FP machines (a photo of that can be found in one of ISTCrew's updates), and the Stand-By entrance sign was gone. I find both of those happenings very odd. Will we soon see the demise of this attraction, just like its DCA counterpart?

The walls were down when I was there yesterday. No more Fastpass.

That's interesting, do you know the reason behind it? I always used FP for that show and found it more useful to get in the "fastest finger" seats on the show floor.

It's time for a change here, IMO. Saw the show twice and never had any desire to see it again. I just don't think this had much repeat value for me. Nice to see it a couple times, but to me the novelty wore off really fast.

I can see getting rid of FP though. We go in the crowded summer months and sometimes in December and I haven't seen a wait long enough not to get into the next show in quite a while. So I don't think FP was really needed anymore.

I can certainly sympathize with the fans of the show, but I personally wish for a nice replacement soon.

when i went on memorial day weekend, a cast member just handed me a fastpass, and told me to go in to the fastpass line. the fastpass is definently not needed but i still enjoy the show every once in a while :)

It will be closing...

I am told by a good source that this ride will be closing by the end of the year. The wall in front of the fastpasses was put up about two weeks ago. I am told that the machines are actually gone! (Have not confirmed!)

With the Disneyland version gone, the TV show gone, I'd expect the WDW show to be gone after Christmas!!

Since when did the TV show get taken off the air? They are still taping right now and last I checked it's still on air. I know it's not on the same time it was when Regis was host, but they are still showing it. They have a new lifeline where AIM users get to answer it and the person in the hot seat gets to see the audience answer and then the AIM answer. Maybe I missed something, but I don't see why they would take the show out at WDW with the show still airing on TV. Everytime I've ever been to it at WDW it was a full theater, even during off-season.

I honestly don't understand why so many people want them to close this attraction when there is an empty theater building less than 100 yard away (the old SuperStar Theater or whatever its called). I personally love WWtbaM and really hope they dont close it. Its one of my favorite attractions at the studio. I think it has great repeat value, as I keep trying to get into the hot seat. And the show is still on in daytime syndication. And while I can't expect everyone to share my positive opinion, I'm still surprised so many want it closed with an empty building so close.

It's on, but if I remember correctly it is currently running in syndication, which is why many people probably don't know it's still going. However, it's an old show that has possibly been forgotten by many. If this attraction is open for another year or two, it would be like running SuperStar Television now in 2004 with the Home Improvement and Cheers scenes.

It was a good, fun show at the beginning when the television show was still popular, but it has run its course and it is time for a change. :)

However, it would be sad to see the Star Wars Weekends show go away....that was always a fun one.... :(

Good points mickey04. But the difference for me is that you can't really do a whole lot with the old SSTV building other than another show. But you can use the whole soundstage of WWTBAM and the old Backstage Pass show, and create a much bigger show or dark ride. That is just how I'm looking at it though.

I would like to see WWTBAM replaced by a nice dark ride or something. I've never been in WWTBAM and really don't plan to. I realize that the show has its fans, but it just doesn't really sound all that appealing to me. Plus the show has really lost most of its popularity. I didn't even know that it was still on, until the recent thread about the power rangers stunt show (which I really hope never happens).

As a cast member at the Studios, I can tell you with certainty that the FP machines were taken out and reinstalled at the new Stunt show.

This is true. I will confirm that. Also, the show isn't going anywhere. It'll be there at LEAST through January of next year. Rumor has it Meredith will be taping there in the beginning of next year.

Power Rangers isn't happening either.

I have been to the show many times and have also been in the hot seat several times. I say keep it, I want to win the free 3 day cruise for my family. This is one area where Disney gives something of value to its lucky guests.
