I would like to know who these "sources within Universal Studios" are, because that makes it sound confirmed rather than rumor. Unless they're just making it up.

Yeah I'm not sure, I know it's been an old rumor but it just came up again with the announcement of wrestlemania. With their relationship with the city of Orlando it would make a lot of sense and I think it would do rather well if they keep things updated and the food is good. The rent in NYC is the only reason the restaurant didn't survive there.

I thought it was going to be a chocolate factory restaurant :arghh::arghh::arghh::arghh::arghh::arghh:. WWE is stupid:cautious:
It is, the rumor of WWE was unsubstantiated.
Well excuse the both of you lol. Not everyone finds the WWE "stupid". In fact the WWE (Professional Wrestling) is a valuable source of entertainment to the eyes of many. Sure, it's not everyone's cup of tea but it does it's job and it makes a helluva lotta money. WWE and NBC-Universal have been television partners for years, both of their flagship shows are shown weekly on the USA Network. Plus, Orlando is the home of their talent development facility (which no one is allowed in unless you are an employee of the company). If that was open for regular people then maybe there wouldn't have to be a WWE restaurant at CityWalk. Either way, whether you're a fan or not this is smart business and it will drive people worldwide to visit this place. People all over the world already travel far and wide to experience WrestleMania annually so why wouldn't they come here?

Also the rumor wasn't for a Chocolate Factory, it was for a Cheesecake Factory in which you can go to at your local mall.

A whole restaurant like this? Yes, please!

Type: restaurant
Location: CityWalk
Expected opening: fall

This may be the only entry on our list to just be a rumor, but it’s a really good one.

Here’s what we know: NBA City was closed this past August and has since been getting completely gutted to prepare it for a brand-new dining venue that is expected to open at some point in 2016 (how do we know? Elementary, Watson – Universal has indicated that it’s interested in renovating one new restaurant in CityWalk a year since the area’s massive facelift in 2014, and there aren’t any other tenants that have recently been kicked out).

And here’s what we think we know: Universal is busy cooking up (pun certainly intended) a dessert bar of some sort, landing one of the very last types of culinary experiences left unrepresented at the resort. Rumors originally had this being a Cheesecake Factory location, but now it seems it’s going to be an original creation, along the lines of Red Oven Pizza Bakery or Antojitos Authentic Mexican Food.

While Universal hasn’t offered any official date (obviously, since it hasn’t even acknowledged the new venue’s existence yet), we currently expect it to follow the pattern established in the last few years at CityWalk: The Cowfish Sushi Burger Bar didn’t open until December 2014, and NBC Sports Grill & Brew didn’t bow until October 2015. Don’t expect the dessert oasis, then, to open anytime before Halloween Horror Nights starts up next fall.

An original creation of a dining venue that involves dessert and chocolate will FAR outperform WWE on any day-with my visits alone:D. I guess we will have to wait and see. I would hope they would appeal to the masses, and I'm sorry, if NBA didn't, there is NO WAY WWE will. Besides NBC Sports kind of encompasses ALL sports (if you can call WWE a sport).

Let's agree to disagree. WWE does business differently than the NBA. If this happens expect Superstar appearances, exclusive press conferences, and monthly pay-per-view events to take place at the establishment. That would be enough to keep people rolling through the door. As far as I know, NBA City never had appearances made by active NBA players or NBA legends, if any of the above did appear, it was completely coincidental with that player being there with family spending their vacation. Plus, as I recall the food wasn't all that either. If NBA City would've applied those those two concepts together, then, sure it would've survived.

Just hoping for something that doesn't promote violence (even fake violence) as entertainment. Especially as entertainment.

You make a good point...the NBA and wwe are two different entities that do business entirely different....one being a sport (nba) and one being entertainment (wwe). The amount of money it would cost to bring in a pro ball player would be astronomical compared to a wwe star. That's because they have actual sports contracts and are not "entertainers". Don't get me wrong, wrestling is a physically demanding field and is energetic and fast paced....but it isn't a sport by any stretch. And just a hunch, you said the rent in NYC was too much for the resturant, it was probably too much if the resturant wasn't bringing in the revenue it needed to substain the cost of the establishment, otherwise, it was a failure in business sense. The hard rock that sits in the location now seems to have made it since wwe left.
Personally, I would rather see a chocolate themed resturant...a little more versatile then a pro wrestling themed venue
