I typically see proximity sensors used to detect ride vehicles passing. They can be set to identify different densities of material. This way they will not trip when water splashes by, only when the ride vehicle passes. If you look about 15 feet from him toward the load and unload zone you can see the brackets and sensors located on both side of the tracks. I doubt the kid tripped anything, but someone had to stop the ride since no boats passed. I would put money on it that he was removed and banned from the park.

Had a boat come down and taken him out, I would have felt bad for those who had to witness it.

As for him.......Natural Selection.:dazzle:

Luckily for him a safety feature prevented this example of Natural selection.

This video was edited to make it seem like boats were just still coming down. But that boat you see splashdown at the end was not until the water was cleared and this particular fellow was being cuffed and taken by the nice officers of Orange County.

As said earlier was right on the money. As soon as this fellow jumped the fence and was noticed an employee hit E-stop.

Good answer, although I think the whole video is a setup.

Were you there when then happened? Or is this just an assumption on your part?

Although it could be considered trespassing, I think being thrown in jail is a little harsh. Being an idiot is not a crime. There are laws against suicide also; how enforceable are they?

I know someone who worked the ride at the time. Not unload since that is likely the first person who saw them if not in the control booth. Sadly this stuff is not as uncommon as we wish to think...I mean I was even surprised because this stuff is pretty darn bad. I figured and knew its not uncommon for ride jumpers on calmer rides and log flumes to try and jump on to sets as a bad joke with a bad ending...but to this extreme is not uncommon. Don't forget about the boy last year who was decapitated for the same quest, to get a hat at Six Flags. He climbed two fences to get to the restricted area.

What charges are taken into action after is not known except for between the company, the person and Orange County. It is up to Universal and them to decide how to handle it. Wreckless behavior is certainly a crime.

Wait, I thought Universal used Orlando Police for security matters and not Orange County Sheriff's Office.

Oh, really?! Can you tell me what happened then? How did the kid get that far unnoticed? Who saw and hit the E stop? What happened?

Apologies if it sounded like he was on shift when the event itself happened. Talk about the odds.

He was not on shift when it happened but he was placed at that attraction. He was usually at another water ride in Toon Lagoon but at the time it was down for refurbishment but when I asked him about how something like that goes down what he explained happened was that E stop was hit and the kid was not in any danger of any more boats coming down the chute at the time. That is not to say that he was not in any other dangers, clearly there were and nothing is fullproof.

If you watch the video you will see that there is a gap at unload. When the ride is in running operation there is always a boat at load, unload, and one about to go down the drop. The video's ending there with the shot of the gap shows that there was an E stop.

I don't understand how you feel the kid was able to 'get that far' By the time this camera is rolling the ride has been E stopped. You can't predict someone's poor choices. The system likely saved his life.

When I say "get that far," I mean the fact that it appears that there aren't any park people over there.

Considering things like that happen so fast, and the fact that it is probably not protocal to risk their own lives, no one should of been. They were waiting for him. The ride had been stopped and then they get them as soon as they come out. Clearly he was right on his way thinking he owned the place.

Things like this just can't be predicted. So they do their best to keep the bad choice makers out of death and harms way and then legal handles the rest.

Just out of interest what would have happened had a boat already started the descent past the T-Rex?

I'm not all that clued up on E-stops but is it possible to perform an E stop after the boat has started the drop?

No, if the Estop was hit a half second after the boat started the drop, nothing would have happend to that specific boat. It would have dropped and splashed just the same, because it's gravity.

Beacause it's Uni, enough said.

Your trolling has gotten out of control. If you don't have anything legitimate to contribute to the conversation, do not post here. Why would Universal employees risk their lives to chase after this kid into the water? The E-Stop had already been hit, so all they could do is wait for him to come back out. It's not like the kid got away with it.
