I was reading the article at Jim Hill about a "scary" Halloween event at MGM. Now I know it's JHM and this isn't exactly his fan site but there is a good question in the whole thing. Would you ever like to see a scary Halloween event at WDW? Or do you think that MNSSHP is the right thing for Disney and a scary event is too "un"-Disney. IMO I would like to see a scary evnt maybe at MGM and then keep MNSSHP for those who don't like the scary one at MK. Just my two cents but what's yours?

i would love it but it will never happen. i make a trip to orlando every october to go to halloween horror nights and i go to disney all day during the day while im down there so if there was a SCARY event it would be great for me cause then i would just spend my time at disney. I do know alot of people that make a trip down for HHN every year and that it is pry one of the best halloween events in the world so if disney could rival it that would be amazing but i dont not think disney would make enough money to do it. It would take away from the sales of MNNSHP plus it would cost of ton of money to put on so it is a lost cause to hope for it anymore.

Nope. If I wanted a scary event, there's already HallowScream and Busch Gardens and Horror Nights at Universal. I don't like gore, horror or any of that. Especially since it makes for a miserable environment of angsty, rude teenagers.

Give me MNSSHP any day. People who want the horror already have other options.

Disney doesn't have the characters to make it horrific...unless they're going to use whatever two or three movie monsters aren't already being used by Universal. Frankly, Universal can have the "scary" Halloween events. I don't go to Disney World to be scared. I go there to have fun. I'd rather watch a parade with Disney Villains than have some lame guy in a hockey mask chase me around with a fake chain saw.

I think I agree with everyone who has posted here in some fasion, but I think there is a difference in spooky and scary. I wish that Disney would not cower away from bringing out more villans or even having spooky area. I do think scary is over the top for the family enviroment at the Magic Kingdom but I do not like the total abandonment of all things spooky, like the story teller at Liberty Tree Tavern, or the rumor that the guy on the ferry boat with the lantern will be gone after this year. Downtown Disney on the other hand would be perfect for a scary area, not gore but scary.

I think something a little more "spooky or scary" would be fine and dandy. But it would have to be done in disney style. Which, of course, would meen VERY well done with exceptional attention to details, and yet, still Disney brand entertainment (no Freddy's or Jasons or things like that. But maybe a more "intense" headless horseman, or some other appropriate Disney "villains". )
Just as long as it was advertised as such (so parents don't bring the "little ones" who may be overly spooked).

I think the responses may vary on the audience we are speaking to. IMO No, but if they did it at MGM would they sell tickets? I would think they would sell but the audience would probably be different for the most part than those that attend MNSSHP. If you are on vacation and only in town for a week as some people are what are the chances of having that audience part with 2x the $ for different parties in a weeks time frame? This is a good discussion and food for thought.

Don't judge. I'm a very good HHN patron.

He's a guy in a hockey mask with a machete, ok? But I get the sarcasm, and PS, they do use real chainsaws.

That, however is a good idea. And like you said, no gore. Maybe they could do it in some of the PI nightclubs. And have the street running with villains, etc.

Oh, and Freedy, Jason, and Leatherface are only here for one year, and it's not their best idea of them all. Oh, and in the old days, most of the houses weren't about gore, but now... Oh well...

Leatherface is the one with the chainsaw. Jason has the machete. If your gonna knock it, at least get your facts straight.

Scary and gory are two different things....depends on which we are talking about here. Scary, yes. Full of blood and gore, you'll never see it at Disney.

There is nothing wrong with attracting teenagers to the park. I think some people need to be more tolerant of those high-energy type kids. Not the destructive ones, mind you, but some people are against loud teens anywhere. They are simply a fact of life.

Oh God. No way. I would hate to see a scary event at Disney. That would be awful. That's Universal's department.

I love Disney and all, but even if they did try it I don't think they'd out-do Universal's HHN, which is amazing this year as far as the houses go. I just don't see Disney getting as gory and gruesome as they do.

Perhaps you are, but I have personally been to HHN and had a MISERABLE time because of the absolutely oversold, stuffed-to-the-gills number of teenagers who were grabbing at the women, pushing, cursing and generally making a complete @$$ of themselves. It was beyond intolerable behavior and I would never go back.

You must have gone the same night I did. Was it also "drunk teenager with fake ID night" as well when you went?

Me too!

Tomorrow will be night #5 for me going this year and I've had a blast.

Only one of the nights that I've been this year have involved stupid teenagers. They were trying to get adults to buy them alcohol. Our group ratted them out to the police while waiting in line. Heh. They were pretty loud and obnoxious too, but someone in line behind us took care of that.

Other than that its been a lot of fun.

I don't think Disney needs to put on a "scary" Halloween party.

With the huge success of Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party and the fact that the new party would have to compete against both MNSSHP and Halloween Horror Nights, I'm not sure there would be a real point in having it.

Not saying I'm against it though. If Disney did do this, I would be very interested in what special things they would do for the event.

Could have solved that problem quite easily by just buying the Express Passes with your admission.....you basically wait no more than 10 minutes for anything.

Actually back when I went they didn't offer that kind of thing. And they even made us all sign waivers saying we understood we wouldn't be able to see most attractions due to the crowd.

*snorts* Yeah, sounds about right.
