Definitely

It has always been my dream to work at Disney. I unfortunately married into the military and do not have a choice of where we live. I only hope to retire to Orlando and work for the MOUSE!!!!
*** By the way I am from north Florida and have family in Orlando, I still love it even though you may bad mouth it.

I am fortunate enough that I was able to keep my existing job, but still move to Orlando. Being a software developer, I just work from a home office. I have been here almost two years now, and I still enjoy going to the parks as much as ever. Of course, when I go without my son I generally do anything *but* SWSA. :p

I'm not ready to give up my current job, (18 years as middle school English teacher, Baby!) but my husband and I do talk of someday retiring in Orlando and working in the parks in our Golden years. So many of the cast members that are older seem to be having so much more fun than my grandparents had, or even my parents are having at that age. I can retire when I'm 55, so I think I'd have a great time roaming the parks as a CM.

Well, I did take a very large cut in pay once to go work for Disney. I can't really emphasize enough that it actually took a bit of the magic away from me, I suppose. I mean, working in the Haunted Mansion was fun, but it demands quite a bit of attention and constant acting from you. And, the one major flaw I found in the system was the management. It was, in less words, absolutely horrific. I cannot see how such a place can operate ostensibly so well with the lack of good management! Well, I'll quit my fuming here... I would rather just keep Disney as a place to go vacation.

I would never be able to support my 3 kids by myself on what they pay CM's. I would definately look into positions in the spa's, since I am a massage therapist. If I were ever lucky enough to land a massage therapist position, I would take it in a heart beat. I have heard from a friend that lives in Florida that there is a waiting list for Disney though.

My idea is to retire there. After my kids are grown and gone and I reach retirement age, I would probably move to Orlando, buy a condo and work as a CM, somewhere hopefully with air conditioning.

I kinda am doing that. Im attending school at UCF in orlando. My major is hospitality management and im hoping for a management position at WDW. This is my dream and I want to fulfill it. Before I even get my dream position though i have to intern. Not exactley the college program but its similar in the respece that i take classes at the same time.

I would think it would turn into something like the Dunkin Donut commercial..."Time to make the donuts!" and Disney shouldn't be that way.

I would love to do just that, if my family didn't enjoy eating, or having a roof over our heads. This thread definitely makes you think about all the CMs outh
there past and present. We all go to Disney (World or Land) expecting a magical time, we expect to be treated well and served. We often are heard to complain, (on these boards), if things are not just perfect, yet none of us
would really even think of doing what they do. My hat is off to everyone of
those CMs that do smile and have a cheery disposition. I probably would have
gone on a mad spree by now ripping off peoples mouse ears and stomping them into the ground, while casting expletives in a rather un-Disney manner.

To me Disney is like Christmas. What makes it so special is that one time a year that comes around and the anticipation that builds up to going there. If I were saturated by Disney it just wouldn't be as magical when I got there. As for giving up my job for another one...that's a whole different story.

There have been references to per hour wages, but does anyone have specifics? How about Disney Reservations? I have 8+ years of call center experience both on the phones and now in administration. I'd love to get the opportunity but I'm guessing the money there can't compare to what I make now.
