Would you book 2 rooms at the Pop Century or cram into 1 room at the Wilderness Lodge

We have a set budget for our rooms.. but looking at the price for when we are going on our next trip.. I see that 1 room at the Wilderness Lodge is about the same price as the 2 rooms we are getting at the Pop Century.

If you had the choice between staying in 2 rooms at the Pop Century or cramming 4 people into 1 room at the Wilderness Lodge.. what would you do? We are a party of 4 people.

Hmm.. :dazzle:

Depends upon which class of room at the WL you are talking about, as 2 couples sharing a standard room may be a bit cramped.

Then again, you would be staying in a hotel versus a motel, you would be on a patch of water and could take a boat ride to hither and yon, you would have better dining choices in your resort, etc.

Do any of the four snore loudly? :lookaroun

For our family (mom & dad, 17 yr boy and 11 yr old boy), it would be 2 rooms.

If you are 2 couples, the WL has queen sized beds, which are far more comfortable for DH and me, who sleep in a king at home.

Then again, 2 couples may get enough togetherness touring all day and appreciate the privacy at night.

Definitely Wilderness Lodge.

At Wilderness Lodge you can see Wishes from your balcony if you get a courtyard room on the correct side, you have quick boat transportation to the MK, Contemporary, and Fort Wilderness. And even if you get the farthest away room, you walk all the way there indoors, unlike Pop Century where you would walk a super long ways in the rain/hot/cold/etc.

And OMG - wait till you feel those pillows at Wilderness Lodge. I'd pay an extra bundle just to use those pillows! We were tempted to steal them and bring them home (but we didn't of course LOL).

I agree with Laura. Wilderness Lodge would be my choice.
I like being close to a park when I go. I also like the extra space in a deluxe room. When you add it up, 2 rooms at pop VS a standard room at WL, the price is not that bad.

I agree with Laura too. The pillows and towels were very fluffy. However, we had a heck of a time zipping up our suitcases when we left.

Oh what a tough one you have on your hands!

I'd go with the Value resort. I know I'm going to get blasted on this, but mainly it's because of "privacy."

Yes, WL is SO much nicer and has a lot more perks, but then again how often are you in your room. This is an arguement for both rooms I guess, but like someone else stated, you get one bathroom per two people at the Value resort and not four. That can make a heap of difference when it comes to waking up and all that stuff!

Also, not to be out of line, but let's say you do want some privacy at night, are you going to relive the college days and hang a tie on the door to keep the others out if you stay at WL?

It's a tough call, but hey, at least it's one that involves going to the world.

Have fun!

Sign me up as a WL supporter. We have stayed there often as the kids have grown and we have always had enough room. Shower time is no problem because 2 use it at night and 2 in the morning.

We just love the atmosphere, proximity to the MK and just about everything else they have to offer.

WL is our favorite resort. My mother joined us on a trip and four of us had plenty of room. We love the atmosphere and just being a boat ride away from MK.

I'm going to vote for the 2 rooms at the Pop. (Mainly because this is actually what I'm doing) It's my husband and myself and another couple. We just prefer to have our own room and especially our own bathroom. Plus, it's nice to have a little more space.

Plus, one of the other couple does snore.

Also, it's nice to be able to talk about the other people in your party and it's harder to do that when they are in the room with you:lookaroun

Well put. This way you can get it off your chest without upsetting anyone! Plus you can "go" to the bathroom without coming out and embarrassing yourself!

That is 100% true. I don't personally need an audience when I'm doing anything in the bathroom.;)

But that's just me.

Depends on how close your group is and how many bathrooms you need!

GOOD LUCK!

Don't get me wrong.....I am a HUGE WILDERNESS LODGE fan, as mentioned many other times on this site.

I just thought that the fact the OP felt the need to ask the question in the first palce is reason enough for me to recommend getting 2 rooms over 1. There's no way to compare the additional personal space and bathroom you get from two rooms.

Also....and this is for a few of us.....if you are scrap book people or souvenir collectors, with 2 rooms you will get 2 of everything (check in documents, resort maps, room magazines, soaps, etc.) and you'll have more for your scrap book!

:D

I think it all depends on how close you are with the people you are going with and how easily you get irritated or embarassed. We've shared hotel rooms with friends both at WDW (All Star Movies) and in Vegas (Bellagio) and did run into any problems.

Either way, have a good time

I will be one of the minority, I would go with 2 rooms at the POP. WL is great but 2 couples in one room for any extended period is a little uncomfortable. By all means visit WL have lunch at Whispering Canyon (ask for MT she is the best) explore the resort, etc but I think you will enjoy your trip more with the 2 rooms.
