Worst Rumour Ever

This is the most horrible rumour ever, not only credibility wise by content wise. This should never come true, in both senses. Its posted at a FAN SITE, The Magic of WDI:

"We have received several reports on a rumored new land that could appear in Disneyland. The land is rumored to be placed at the back of the Rivers of America in the old Big Thunder BBQ area. The working title for this new land is "Toon Lagoon," and it would be themed to Disney animated films. Attractions for this area are rumored to include a swinging ship, bumper boats, bumper cars, a sky tower and a Lilo and Stitch theater."

It sounds pretty awful. Thankfully, it will never come true.

Well, for one thing, its a bunch of carnival rides. Swinging ship? Bumper boats? Bumper cars??? A SKY TOWER???? Is this Six Flags or Disney?

The only good thing is a Lilo and Stitch theater.

What did the residents of Orlando think back in the early '70s when they heard rumours of a Disney theme park right in their own back yard ????
Facts start out as rumours - some turn out to be true.........

Don't even get me started on DCA. I'm sorry DCA fan, but I'm making a prejudgement on DCA: I don't like it. I feel for all the imagineers that put there heart into it, but it is really out of touch with what Disney is all about. The carnival ride slew at Animal Kingdom and DCA has to stop. Disney is tarnishing its own agenda. Along with all the cheap animated sequels.

Now I know carnival rides are not the center of all evil. I enjoy Six Flags, but when I want pure roller coasters I go there. When I feel like going to roadside carnivals I do. But when you expect the original, refreshing rides that Disney has, and find midly themed fair rides, its definetly taking a step back. And Disney should be taking steps FORWARD.

I would see the problem if this kind of amusement area was taking over long-time beloved attractions, but what's wrong with combining the 2? Not trying to start a war or arguement, just hoping to probe some brains for your opinions. Please don't throw things at me!!

And yes, I am already familiar with Walt's view on carnivals...

HHmmm.......

I think it`s a Great Idea!!
Why Not Take customers From 6 Flags? and Knotts berry Farm??

I understand they sound like Cheap rides But Wait a Minute??
If it`s a Disney Ride .. I bet it wont look cheap:)
You must think about the Parks Future
If you let these other Parks have those Rides and Get more Customers
Why Cant Disney have them too...

$50.00 isnt Just for the Carnival rides It`s for all the Rides
Peter Pan/Matterhorne/Space Mountain Ect...
Im for the Idea
Theres lots of open Space in Disneyland
That could be used for more Theme Lands
WTG Disney!!!:sohappy:

Ohhhkay...
So you have pre-judged DCA??? Dont you know that that is very narrowminded??? I mean, if the company wants to do something, they will, regardless of what the general public thinks! I have also heard great things about Fliks from some of the CM's that have been able to preview the area, and that it is a wonderful addition to DCA!
I think you should at least give it a chance. We have to keep in mind one thing...We dont know what Walt would have wanted. He may have seen these additions in a good light. I think the company is making choices based upon what will add to the family feel of the parks. Maybe we shouldnt be so quick to judge, ESPECIALLY if we havent experienced the parks first hand.....

OH! And I think the addition of a themed area behind Thunder Mountain is a GOOD idea...it would give parents some place to take the small ones while the older kids ride Big Thunder.....

I love You Cal:)

Flik's Fun Fair looks alright to me, at least you can say its better than Paradise Pier, although I honestly think that Paradise Pier looks alright to me. Its not like these are the carnie rides that are made to stand up for a few days for a carnival, then be taken down to go to the next one. These are nice looking rides and as for Flik's, it is no different than the rides at Fantasyland. It looks to be like a ultimate "Honey I shrunk the kids adventure". And I hear that out of teh 70 or so giant clovers, there is one with four leaves to be found! Thats pretty imaginative to me.

As for toon lagoon, whatever does come of it, they will definetly have to change the name! (ie: Ilands of Adventure)

Why should I give DCA a chance? I've heard every review there is, good and bad. I've seen Muppets, Tough to be a bug, the animation tour, the Tower of Terror, Kali River Rapids..I mean Grizzly River Rapids. I've been on far more thrilling rides than the mild layout of California Screamin'. And the whole california theme doesn't appeal to me at all. So they have a couple movies and a bakery. and I've been on a roller coaster, a 200 ft. freefall tower, and a swing ride. I never play carnival games. Its not a good Disney park. And just looking nice isn't going to change that. I've seen every picture of it. Now, your gonna tell me "its not the same as being there". Well, some sounds and smells are not going to change my opinion of the place, and a cast member saying "hi" won't make the park look any better (though it would make the stay itself more pleasant).

I can prejudge if I darn want too...why? becuase ITS MY OPINION!!!!!! and in my opinion, DIsney shouldn't be doing carnival rides.

You want an expansion to frontierland? How bout Discovery Bay or Western River Expedition??? or how bout Geyser Mountain???

I'm saying theres far better concepts out there than just doing a Seaside Coney Island "replica".

I'm an open-minded individual most of the time, and my open mind says that Tokyo DisneySeas looks pretty good to me.

And why don't YOU (CalDisney) go to 1930's Nazi Germany since you don't seem to feel anyone is welcome unless they are all expressing the exact same opinion.

Don't feel bad, Sketch105. I got the same, "Why don't you leave?" attitude from CalDisney on another thread when I shared my honest opinion about DCA. Apparently, she and others aren't familiar with this one document we have called...The Constitution! It frightens me that there are still people who think this way. I absolutely LOVE Disney, otherwise I wouldn't bother with this site. But it would be a considerably boring one if every single post you read was something to the effect of, "Isn't EVERYTHING about Disney just perfect and flawless? " I find the variety of opinions expressed here to be interesting and stimulating. I just have to chuckle when I read how offended some people get when someone says something that is anything less than glowing about every aspect of Disney.

Take it easy guys. I think the complaint here from the DCA fans is that while they understand your point of view, they do not see why the anti-DCA people have to continual have a negative slant on every single DCA post, particularly when they are trying to start a postive DCA thread.

You both of course have your opinions, but can you try and not continually slam anti DCA opinions on every pro DCA thread?

thanks :)

you can have your opinion all you want, and I support that, but you cannot judge it until you have experienced it. I have, and I liked it. People in California have MAJOR preconceived notions about what Disney is and isn't, and that's why it has such a bad rap. These are the same people who gave Lightmagic such bad press in the beginning, that it was cancelled, even though in its final run, it was gaining popularity (ever heard of an ACQUIRED TASTE!?!?). So, while DCA isn't the Disney that californians aren't accustomed, to, ANYONE who has been to the Disney/MGM Studios should at least enjoy the park.

They slam DCA yet they'll flock to Knott's Berry Farms in droves...
