What is the worst land (in terms of aesthetics / immersion) in any of the WDW theme parks?

  • Animation Courtyard

  • Commissary Lane

  • Pixar Plaza

  • Rafiki’s Planet Watch

I voted for PIXAR Plaza because it has nothing going for it. At least Animation Courtyard has two shows, even if neither of them are my cup of tea. What does PIXAR Plaza have?

Half of these are not lands though.

I just never thought of Commissary Land or Planet Watch as a land.

It's plausible to argue that these shouldn't be lands, but I was going by Disney's official designation on its guidemaps, website, and app (though interestingly, Pixar Plaza seems to have been removed from the most recent DHS paper guidemap).

Well said.
Animation courtyard was my initial pick, as it is useless in its current state. But you convinced me otherwise. Good overview of all of the problems and missed opportunities of this redo. Uninspired, broken, and plain. The worst offender of all is the generic dance parties. The sound reverberates throughout much of the park and yes, makes those areas worse.

I miss the fountain of nations
World Celebration still has lots of nice parts

I think one of the worst was Streets of NY. It was empty space everyone had to walk through with no attractions, just fake sets.

Galaxy's Edge is one of the worst, IMO, because of what it should have been. And because what we have is nothing like what was advertised.

Much of HS feels like a bit of a miss, but I actually like the Commissary itself. The area around there though could use some love.
I concur with Galaxy's Edge being such a miss. In some ways it's like Streets of NY only even worse. At least you could climb the stairs and sit on a stoop with NY. So much of Edge is just brown walls. There are areas that have shops etc, but it's mainly concentrated. If you are coming from Toy Story Land(a land I don't love because it feels so claustrophobic and hot and misses the mark on making me feel like a toy), it's just this brown walled walk with nothing going on for awhile.

It's so interesting that perceptions/experiences of Galaxy's Edge are so divided. It (well, the DL version) might be my single favorite land in any theme park - the richness of detail on/in all the structures, the rockwork vistas, all the different spaceships, etc., just blows me away every time and makes me really feel transported to another world.

For sure(I will say I like it better at night). I think my issue is this land would have been a blow me away place 25 years ago. But since that time, Uni(and I will be specific the Florida version). Of Harry Potter world came on the scene. Diagon Alley in Uni and to a slightly lesser degree Hogsmeade, are such immersive spaces with much detail in the shops and dining, they feel like lived in areas. You don't feel like you are visiting an artificial place or just a set. Galaxy's Edge still feels like just a set to me.

That's really interesting. Thank you for sharing these thoughts. To me, GE feels even more lived-in than WWoHP! I'll have to think about this more when I'm next there... and maybe even schedule our DHS day right after our Hogsmeade/Diagon day for better comparing :)
