Worst/Hardest Days Leading Up To A Trip

The running joke in our family is that dad is never excited until he gets on DME. It's the first time I smile about the whole process. I hate the travel and am only content when I see the Mickey hands waving and the first Disney video playing on the bus.
I won't say I hate the travelling as it takes me WDW but it is my least favourite part before arriving.
Once I am on the DME I can relax because my holiday is officially starting.

I love the planning and everything leading up to the trip. My worst day is actually the first day when we arrive. Almost every year something goes wrong at check-in: the hotel's computer goes down, we can't check in yet, they give us the wrong room, our luggage disappears, our room keys don't work when we return from the parks, etc. It's gotten to the point where I think I might skip the parks on my first day this year and just do downtown disney so I can relax in dealing with all the drama of check-in.

Right now, I would say between the time ADRs are made (180 day out) and the time Fastpasses are made (60 days out). The trip is planned, and there's really nothing to do except search for new events (like Minnie's Holiday Dine). Of course, I might be feeling that way because I am 135 days away, and time moves soooooooo slowly.
I agree. 165 days to go!!!!

THE hardest day is the second to last day before. Having to tie up loose ends at work etc. I always take the day before travel off so that I don't feel rushed when adding the last minute items to the suitcases and zipping them up that one last time before travel

For me it's always the day before we leave. Worrying that we have everything we need to get to the airport and get on the plane, etc. This year's trip was the worst because it was from 7/25 to 7/29 and we didn't even decide to go on the trip until like 7/7. So getting two rooms, 5 tickets and dining plans, 5 air fares, trying to get some reasonable ADRs and a rental call in less than 3 weeks was a chore.

That's my kind of chore!

For me its once things are all planned! There is SO much planning to do, it keeps me busy and the days fly by. I've been watching airfare, reading and researching Disney/Universal, tweaking the plans and reservations to my liking. I think i tweaked our ADRs like 10-15 times to make them "better"!! Haha im crazy. Now we are 40 days out, i have nothing to book, nothing to pay for, all of the ADRs are wonderful. Its literally come down to me waiting for paperwork/magicbands and other disney related packages. WHAT DO I DO NOW?! Wait. Wait. Wait.

Considering I'm 6 days away from my trip and I can't fit anything, I'd say now. Like who gains 60lbs in a year? I totally planned on pigging out this vacation, but it looks like I'll be going a more "healthy" route:(.

Oh... and keeping this vacation a secret from my daughter has been extremely hard. She wants to go to Hershey Park so I can't wait to see her face when I give her her Magic Band on Monday.

The week before ADRs my boys drive me nuts with the changes they want to make, and 2 days before we leave that's the day I make sure everything is organized. The day before isn't too bad as I make that a spa day mani, pedi facial etc, I really need it because my nerves are shot by thenLOL

I have just under 3 weeks left and my brain has been checked out of work for what feels like forever already. I'm still too far out to just coast or go into wrap-up mode, though, and we are so busy there right now that I really need to force myself to stay engaged. It's hard, though. I have needed a vacation, badly, for a while now. We have way too much craziness going on at work and outside of work lately. I just want some time with my husband and kids!

Realistically, once next week is over with and I'm down to just a few more office days, things are going to get MUCH better.
