World Showcase Park

I like alot of your ideas! Very creative. The only problem is that there are not enough family attractions. Just mostly thrill rides and shows that may scare children. Keep most of the thrill rides, but add a few more kid friendly dark rides and attractions that people of all ages can enjoy. I would love to see what you can come up with for the parade.

And what will the icon of the park be? Would that be the giant earth you were talking about? Sounds good, but let's get a bit more creative. How a bout something like the mini globes you have at home, complete with that thing that sticks out on the side that tells longitude and latitude ( I don't know what its called ) Make it complete with gold and dark blue colors. I suppose the continents can be painted on it as well. I'll try to do a drawing of it and see what you think.

Anyway, great ideas. I would love to hear the juicy details!

Okay, lets see if this works:

EDIT: Yay! It works! Now I don't have to constantly be putting pics of things on my photoalbums. So what do you think? Its not my most perfect drawing, but you get the idea.

OOOOH!!!! Now I REALLY like that idea!!! :D

Beneath the globe (this is what I planned) would be a small pond type structure that would have fountains. The queue for "Horizons: A Journey into the Past, Present, and Future" will circle around it before going underneath it and into the showbuilding which will be under International Island.

I planned on listing other attractions, shops, and restaraunts, and the addition of a parade sometime later. I just need a little more time to imagineer :D

Whoa! That is awesome Imagineer Boy! I have an idea! On International Island, the paths and ground could be paved and colored to look like one them Old World Maps. And during Illuminations, the globe that I.B drew could be like the flowering one in EPCOT. It could have internal lights that light up and make the earth glow, then the Golden Curve part could have lasers at each spike. It wouldn't go out on the water tho...its a little big for that lol. Just some thoughts!

Great ideas Wannabe Walt. The old world map pavement work would add on to the surrounding atmosphere to the globe. I like the fire works show idea, but first a few things we must consider. Where will the show take place? Will the globe be seen from the viewing spots of the fire works? Maybe it could light up like that when Illuminations is over, and stay like that until the park closes.

IllumiNations is supposed to take place on World Showcase Lagoon. The barges will be inside barriers in the island, and float out around it before the show. There is also an effect I want to put in there where the icon will have projections on it, to have faces, make it look like it's on fire, or to make it look like a realistic earth during the finale. The finale is planned to have fireworks shooting out of the top of the icon with perimeter fireworks and lasers as well. :D

Also, the icon is going to be medium-small in size. That way, you can see all of the lagoon during the show.

Thanks ImaginEAR and Imagineer Boy! Sounds good 1stStarIC2nite...thats a good idea to make it smaller. I would say no more than 75 to 80 ft tall? In the show, each country should get its own "segment". The same melody in the music would follow through, however it would change to fit the style and instrumentations of that country. Hm...we could call the globe "The Great Sphere" lol...no...bad idea... I have no clue.

Yes.. each country represented in the showcase will have its own little musical suite :D

As for the size... I'm guessing 70-85 feet should be right.. not to big but grand and definately noticeable..

I do need help with the name however... haha. I just labeled it simply as "Planet Earth" for now.. but that names not so good. Any more suggestions? I also did a rough rendering of the icon VERY similar to imagineer boy's and I will post it once a name is decided on. :D

Hm...name...uh...my last idea SUCKED but I'll give it a few more shots...
1. Globe (it could have some cool design for the "logo letters" its a plain name but it could be used quite well...)
2. Sphere of Life (like tree of life lol)
3. Great Ball of Life (just a shot in the dark...)

How about the Sphere of Nations?
Also I have a idea for a new pavillion:
Japan:
1.) Adventure of Momotaro: A dark ride based on the Japanese folktale of a boy who defeated the Oni with the help of his animal friends: a dog, a monkey, and a pheasant. Possibly done in the style and look of the Sinbad ride at Tokyo Disney Sea.
2.) Godzilla the Ride: A thrill ride in which you come face to face with the king of the monsters in a battle against his greatest foes: Rodan, Anguirus, Mothra and King Ghidorah. You are observing the action as new trainees of G-Force and are flying in the Super X, a advanced battle ship created to fight the monsters.
3.) Meet the World: A show about the history of Japan in the style of Carousel of Progress. Designed from the show that used to be at Tokyo Disneyland.

I really like Sphere and Globe of Nations the best.. but I think Globe of Nations will work the best for now.. so let's use that! :D

Tahu, when I was originally designing WSP, the area where China is was Japan, and the thirll ride was to be one based on Godzilla. Weird, huh? :p  But then I changed it because I wanted a dragon themed attraction instead in addition to a new Reflections of China.

Ok.. now that we have a name.. I'll post a rendering of Globe of Nations that was inspired by imagineer boy (thanks! :D). Some weird effects were added during upload as well, but just ignore them. Also, another thing I thought I would add to Globe of Nations is that since nothing is inside, and it is on an axis, Globe of Nations will rotate making it look even more realisitc. Remember, this is a rough copy and if anyone wants to make another one, go ahead :D

Go here!

PS- Right now I am also working on the layout design and story for Horizons: A Journey into the Past, Present, and Future and it should be up sometime tomorrow! :sohappy:

Now you see? Japan NEEDS to get in this park. A Godzilla ride is much cooler then a dragon one! You might need to cram it somewhere though or do a modified design. As for other potential stuff for a Japan area, there could be a ride based on films by Hayao Miyazaki or instead of the Momotaro ride, you could have the legend of Orochi or something. Now that is cool, the story of the early days of Japan in which a warrior with god like powers fights a mighty eight headed demonic dragon! That reeks coolness!

Looks great except for a couple of things. It needs to be more tilted. In other words, both ends of the golden spike thing need to move down a bit. After all, the earth is tilted. Also keep in mind that the spikes at the bottem need to be a bit higher so people can walk under it. And It would be great to make it spin, but how would you do it? You have two or three supports in the side. Why can't the ride take place inside of the Globe of Nations? They can do it for SSE, so they can do it for this one.

Well, the reason the spikes are smaller and close to the ground on the globe are because I ran out of room  Also, there won't be a problem with guests going under it. Like I said earlier, there are going to be fountains beneath the globe. The queue for Horizons is going to go around the perimeter of the fountain/pond before going UNDERGROUND where the ride will be located. The island is slightly elevated to make this easier, and before the lagoon is constructed, the showbuilding will be built underground with International Island on top. Or that's atleast what I originally planned.
