Hi everyone, I wanted to have my first trip to Disneyland this past summer but the rest of the family went against it because we were taking new timers and wanted to show them the world SO I convinced them that we would go the next year. SO this upcoming year we are going end of june into july and had some questions about certain attractions. Which will I definately need a fastpass for? and what is the best way to view World of Color??? on the site it has options of fastpass or dining options? I am confused so If anyone has advice that would be greatly Appreciated!

Hopefully I can explain World of Color: you need a Fastpass to get into the World of Color viewing area. There are machines inside the park, or there are dining packages. The machines inside the park are like any other Fastpass machines, but they do not affect your ability to get a Fastpass for a ride. So you can get your World of Color FP and then go right a ride FP machine... no waiting two hours or whatever it is. For the dining, there's table service dining and the picnic lunch. The picnic lunch is basically a cold counter service meal. For these options, they'll give you your FP's when you get your food.

Have you been to WDW? If so, just do everything you do there! World of Color is a must see. We got fast passes in the Blue Section but we moved near Ariel's Adv and had much better viewing without FP's. As for dining, Bue Bayou is in PotC and Hungry Bear is right on the water in DL and if you are late enough you can see cast members setting up Fantasmic!

Get a Fastpass at the Grizzly River Run. That's where I got it. I got a yellow fastpass for it. I don't think you want to be too close so in my opinion showing up an hour before the show is pointless. With a Fastpass you are guaranteed a good spot.

The show is phenomenal. If you have seen Wishes or Magical at either of the Castle parks those ones tug on your heartstrings a lot and while World of Color combines everything great about Disney as well I find this one is more visually amazing than anything else you have seen. Hint: I thought the Pirates segment stole the show

We ended up with blue Fastpasses and by the time the show started, everyone was standing and we couldn't see a thing. If I could do it again, I would book a dining ADR package and guarantee a good spot. It's an awesome show, one of my all-time Disney favorites. Go to the lengths to get a good spot. Before we left I had people telling me "There are no bad seats" but I seriously disagree. Anywhere behind a tall person can be a bad seat. So book the dining package and make sure you've got a good seat!

No one had mentioned this yet so I will...I enjoy It's a Small World at Disneyland because of all of the neat character add-ins. It is a fun surprise! Other non-WDW attractions that we enjoy are Carsland of course, California Screamin', Mickey's Fun Wheel, Indiana Jones, the DL version of Pirates, Matterhorn, and DH really loves Mr. Toad! I also liked the castle walk-through

I would recommend a dining package too for WOC, however it doesn't guarantee that you will have a great spot. If you want a spot at the railing you will still have to be one of the first people into the viewing area when it opens. So you'll still have to get there fairly early. You do have to stand for WOC when it starts, it is good show.

It is a good idea to make a list of attractions not offered at WDW, that is what we did the first time we went. Also add to your list the things that are different but better (in my opinion) at DL than WDW. Like Space Mt, Pirates, and Small World. Blue Bayous is a great restaurant, but so is Cafe Orleans. Jolly Holiday is a great place for a snack too, lots of fun Mary Poppins details there.

Thanks so much those tips are very helpful. some questions. If I do book a dining reservation where would I be viewing? I would prefer close and center lol. so I dont know what section that is so I will make time to get there in advance if I have to. Thanks again and already thinking about Blue Bayou ALOT!

World of Color is great overall. The only downer is when the nasal, whiny voice of the Disney Gurl Singer (whoever the hell she was this time) kicks in singing the Sherman Brother's "World of Color" song. It makes both my ears and teeth ache...
