Merry Christmas! 🎄

I hope Santa was good to everyone!

I did a lower body work out this AM. I am hoping to get out for a post dinner stroll later. We had a tree fall last night and luckily, it only crushed one of our Adirondack chairs. We're not removing it until tomorrow. This is going to be a chainsaw operation.

I have a breakfast casserole in the oven and some bread rising in front a space heater to speed it up. :P

I hope everyone has a lovely Christmas Day! <3

Hello-

My workout today was an upper body + core. What a difference a day makes. When I got up to workout yesterday, it was 58. This morning it was 25. đź‘Ž đź‘Ž đź‘Ž đź‘Ž đź‘Ž

We had a nice day yesterday. I think going forward, we need to pare down the amount of food we prepare. It is always too much and I seem to spend a "holiday" cooking more than I do any other day of the year. :cautious: Because it was 2020, our power went out for a few hours. When my husband called the power company, the recording said it would be restored today. Luckily, it was much shorter than that. But I was a little worried about cooking dinner when I heard that we wouldn't have power until today. Plus temps were dropping as the day went on.

My bread was fantastic. I was really pleased with it. It had a nice, crunchy crust and nice, glossy holes on the inside. I have some left. I am going to toast some and put a poached egg on top. 🍳

How does the chocolate bomb work? Do you drop it in hot milk? Pour hot water over it? I am not familiar with these.

Most of the 'how to' videos show people pouring hot milk over the bomb, but you need a deeper glass for these and I found mine were popping open when trying to roll them into the bottom of the glass. So, for our second attempt. I filled the glass up with hot milk and dropped in the bomb. My only complaint is that they are EXTREMELY sweet.

All the hot chocolate bombs look great! I really like the ones that look like geodes. I would never guess you were trying to roll with seized chocolate. I just went up and looked again. They kind of look like quartz.

I wanted to see the conjunction, but the skies were very cloudy.

I am interested to see what your new fitness option is! lol

It was sort of a happy accident that I used the glitter and luster on that first batch. It gave them that fun geode/rock look.

I heard that a lot of the northeast had overcast conditions. We were lucky that evening.

I'm interested in getting a slide board. I had one in college and it was quite a workout. It's also something I could easily bring on a road trip. I'm going to start with a cheap one. If I like it, I can invest in a better one.

Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas. My husband didn't get the slide board on my Christmas wish list (He sort of procrastinated with gift buying), but I'm thinking of buying one later this week so I can start the new year off on a good fitness trend. My back has been hurting from a spot I aggravated from my late November raking. I aggravated it some more by helping my husband rake and bag leaves in the backyard the other day. I did get in a little bit of heavy lifting and some odd stretching in all of this too. My husband's gift weighed about 200 lbs and required a lot of moving around for assembly. It was a two man job, but trying to get the right tension and angles on some of the parts felt like some wild version of construction yoga and I'm sure lifting my side several times was good for arm and back strengthening. Beyond that, my younger one's main gift request was a room makeover. I'm not ready to paint, but I put in a lot of energy changing out all of the window treatments, lugging around and assembling lighting, among other things. Today's work will be working on some areas of her walls that need patching and repair before we prime and paint. Not the most physical thing, but it's something.

I've been really bad about exercise in the vacation. The weather has been really rainy! I guess storm Bella caused a lot of it. I didn't go out at all that day, even to get groceries. But since we're on lockdown, I can't just ride my bike to the Centrum to get things I need, so I have to order stuff online and have it delivered. The only exercise I'm getting is going to the grocery store or at work, which I'm only working one night a week at the moment because the holidays fall on my normal work evening. But mostly I've been at home reading, doing a puzzle, or watching Netflix/Disney+. Yesterday the internet was out for a while, so we played boardgames.

@HouCuseChickie , did you take a before picture of your daughter's room so you can post before and after pictures?

A few low-energy days probably won't throw you off course. Interesting, the other day was rainy and I also didn't feel like taking a walk. Sometimes, I think we need to acknowledge our mood or energy level.

Yesterday and today are nice outside (plus I love the colder, winter temperatures), so my walking exercise routine got back on track. No biggie. :)

I don't really like the cold, but I miss snow. I love snow! But the main thing here has just been rain....lots and lots of rain, so I haven't been able to go out. But I just don't feel like doing anything! I think it's kind of a pandemic funk...I normally don't mind staying at home, but the fact that I'm not ALLOWED to go anywhere sucks. Usually, I stay home because I want to....now I stay home because there's nowhere to go, which is kind of depressing, if that makes sense. You're only allowed to go out walking in a park or something with 2 people, all museums, shops, amusement parks, movie theaters, libraries, restaurants are all closed. The only things open are grocery stores, drug stores, and doctors offices. I'm fine when it's self-imposed, but the fact that it's because of a pandemic makes me feel more melancholy.

I haven't taken any official before pictures...mainly because her walls are going to be the most dramatic change. In the pic below, you can see her main dresser, which was the foundation piece that inspired all of her new stuff (new bedding and drapes are a similar concept), but it's the walls that are the big thing. When we painted, back in 2017, she wanted this teal color but it wouldn't go on quite right no matter what we did. She liked the blotchy look though, so I did her entire room as a sponge paint project. She wants to change to a solid light gray.

That's cool about the slide board. I have a couple of pairs of sliding discs, but it's really not the same as a glide board. You can't get that lateral motion like you do on a slide board. You can mimic it, but you stay stationary and it's really not comparable to a slide board.

You sound like you've been getting a workout and a half in! What did you get your husband that was 200 lbs? I am very curious.

Yeah, I was dreading this time of year with this pandemic. It was kind of "OK" with it in the spring because the amount of sunlight was increasing and so were the temps. Now it's winter, it's dark early (but that's been changing) and we can't go out to eat, museums, travel, etc. We were supposed to go to DC yesterday for a few days, we cancelled. The museums are closed and I really don't want to eat carry outs in a hotel room, (plus, I'd like to avoid catching this crud) so what is the point? We made it a tradition when we moved here and I always look forward to it, but I am a little bummed we had to let it go this year.

Hello-

Checking in with a hiit workout.

We're all just chilling here. I've been trying to get out for walks when the weather is cooperative. I've also been eating way too many cookies and cheesecake (thankfully, my son demolished that). I am in maintenance on Weight Watchers Online and my weigh ins are on Fridays. I was going to weigh myself and prepare myself for a bump up in weight, but then I thought, "If I was going to in person meetings, they would not be having them because it's New Year's Day. So I'm not weighing in on Friday." I just feel kind of guilty about it because I've always weighed in every Friday, unless I am out of town. I'm just going to do it this once. But I know what I need to do to get back on track. I will definitely weigh in next Friday. :p

I think that's the key...not being allowed and things being forced to close. It's one thing to make the choice to stay home and not frequent certain spots, but it's entirely different when it's not you making these decisions. I'm a very claustrophobic person. I've realized that the feeling isn't limited to tight rooms. Lockdowns and closures lead to a feeling of being trapped. I can only hope that this doesn't go on for too long. Theories on viral containment aside, the mental health toll has to be considered for the masses.

I'm giving myself a few more days to think about it, but pretty sure I will be getting one. I know the cheap ones don't stay slippery for too long, but if I decide after a week that I no longer enjoy this...$50 won't hurt my feelings as much. I just remember it being a ridiculously good thigh workout and helped with core toning. I need all the help I can get right now.

I bought him a shuffleboard table. From what I'm reading, it's a lighter one too! We've always wanted to fill in the empty space in our bar area with something fun. Shuffleboard was one of his top choices, but he always thought the tables were too big. Regulation size for tournaments are way too big, but proper tables come as small as 9'. Even cheap ones aren't cheap, so I was going to scrap the gift idea. A day later, just before Black Friday, I went into a local sporting goods store for something softball related. On the same aisle as the softball gear, they had a shuffleboard table for sale and it was and was marked down 50% off. I've been on this aisle countless times and it's usually just baseball and softball gear. I took it as a sign.

Happy Holidays. It's been crazy with my dh on nights and no set nights until a week out:eek: Still sticking with LS and Adrienne most days and I may have had a few too many cookies. I believe I've eaten more sweets in the past week than in the entirety of 2020. Anyhoo my dh needed a new phone which came quickly but he got some type of deal on it so he got me a basic activity tracker for next to nothing:joyfull: which showed up yesterday and is currently charging:joyfull: My yeast is proofing for brad to make bread crumbs for a few NYE dishes

Yeah, we were doing so well this summer, we were down to 60 cases per day nationally. Now we're up to something like 12,000. I'm glad we went to Germany for a few day in the Summer when it wasn't bad!! Now I wouldn't feel safe even if it was allowed, but they have every country on either red or orange. Orange is no unnecessary travel and you have to quarantine when you come back, and red is a no travel at all. So we can't go anywhere even if I felt like it was ok, but I don't. I really don't think we'll be able to go to the US this Summer. Even if the vaccine is available, which they say they can start with it here PROBABLY in January, it will take months for them to get to everyone. They are starting with healthcare workers and the elderly, and they don't have enough so they will have to get more before they can vaccinate anyone else. They said probably Summer for others. And until other countries get their numbers down, we won't be allowed to travel outside the country. I can't wait until June to start planning a major vacation and book hotel rooms in the US, so I think we might go to Austria this Summer if the numbers are down enough. That will be easier to plan on the short term...no flights to book. I'm disappointed, but there's not much to do about it.

Yeah, and the big problem here is that people won't do it if it's not mandatory. That's why they ended up having to lockdown again. Because people weren't staying home, weren't distancing, etc. I noticed at the grocery store in particular that I couldn't distance because nobody else would let me. Like, I'd get to the register and someone would come up right behind me to put their groceries on the belt. I can control how close I get to the person in front of me, but not how close the person behind me is. And it feels like I'm the only one worrying about it. So now I have to keep my cart behind me so the next person in line has to wait to put their groceries down until I am moved far enough forward. If I don't, 9 times out of 10, the person behind me is literally inches from me. If people would do it themselves, the government wouldn't have to do a lockdown, but they won't.

I have to take it easy tonight. Last night got absolutely ridiculously busy in my zone at work. I have never had a zone get so busy. I had boxes under the belt, I had boxes stacked up 6 high on top of the belt, and it was still completely full and the light kept coming on. (That's bad) We're not supposed to have more than 2 people to a zone right now because of corona, but we couldn't keep up with 2 of us, so we ended up having to have 4 in the last half hour to work it down. Anyway, I was practically running, and when I got out of work, my hip siezed and I couldn't walk. I had to physically pick up my right leg to get it into the car. That's happened before, but then trying to get from the car to the house after the 30 minute car ride was excruciating. E had to untie my shoes and help me get them off because I couldn't bend down, my husband had to help me get my clothes off and PJs on...that hasn't been a problem since I was pregnant 13 years ago. I'm ok this morning....I can walk again. I won't be winning any races, and I have to be careful, but I can lift the right leg again and I don't have to shuffle. So I have a busy day of sitting today.
