$100 for a jump rope?! When I was a kid, we asked dad to cut us a rope for a jump rope. Probably cost him a buck. :p

Glad you found something more reasonable for yourself. But I was floored to read that they're charging up to $100 for a jump rope!!! :jawdrop:

Yes! And that's $100 for the starter kit! They go up to $282 or something ridiculous. Since I've started doing jump rope workouts on YouTube I've been getting other jump rope videos suggested to me. They are mostly influencers extolling this "Crossrope." I guess I know why they are so expensive!

When you feed it you discard some of the starter and then mix the remaining starter the same ratio of flour and water. Mine never looks like the examples I see on the King Arthur Flour website. I have lots of tiny bubbles in mine. Theirs has bubbles that looks like someone is blowing air into a straw--big bubbles.

My husband's office has a high ceiling and tile flooring, so I'll just jump in there. I've been watching YouTube videos on my TV, but I can do it on my phone. I can even create a timer and cut out the phone.
In the past I've had good luck making a starter. I even kept one alive for 2 years but I live in a more rural area, made pickles and bread before doing so. Maybe my house just has lots of good bugs:hilarious:

I've seen some of those Crossropes that go for crazy prices like that. It's on par with the pricing on weighted fitness hula hoops when they first came out. They've come down in price, but I've never been one who could hula hoop very well 🤣 Jumping rope is such good exercise. I have one with a heart monitor, counter and some other features, but I rarely reach for it. I should!

Yeah, it's Crossrope. I wasn't sure I'd like jumping rope, because I can see how it could get boring. The videos I do are intervals, so it's not bad at all. Of course, I haven't used a real rope yet, so that might change. You pick up your rope again, you might be pleasantly surprised.

Still haven't really been feeling the gym, but I have tried to do other active things. On Saturday, I cleaned my vehicle...inside and out. I forgot to get all of the dog noses off of the interior back windows, but everything else inside was wiped down and vacuumed. I even got the mats out and washed them down. I got down on the ground to scrub the wheels and then scrubbed and towel dried the entire body...along with scrubbing all of the outside windows. Yesterday, I got up early and assembled a bed for the younger one. She's asked for a room makeover for the holidays. Initially, some of it was going to be out of the budget, but her big bday present was missing parts and they can't get me a replacement (and can't guarantee I'll get all of the parts I need to make it work), so they refunded my $. So, that paid for a new platform bed...which was about 2 hours of physical fitness. I had to lug all of the pieces up stairs, lug everything from the old frame downstairs and then it was a lot of stretching, squatting and tension moves to get all of the pieces into place with the wrenches and screwdrivers.

The is the last week of school before holiday break. The younger one has half days at the end of the week to allow for finals grading and the older one will be all virtual for finals W-F, so we get a bit of a break. Softball also should calm down for the next month. I took next week off. I'm really looking forward to the time off.

You sound very active! The bed assembly alone sounds like a few days worth of work outs. My house needs a good clean. I have been slacking off. It seems like since we're all here at the same time, there is very little time where my house remains "clean" for more than an hour and it frustrates me. I think I need to suck it up and get it done before Christmas.

@Sans Souci how bad is it going to get down there. It looks like you're on the line between not so bad and in for the week

I am not sure. I think it's going to be 2-4 in of snow. I seem to be on the sleet/snow line. I keep getting alerts from Accuweather on my phone. Good grief, you'd think people who live in the NE have never seen snow before. Find some chill and sit quietly with it.

It is funny. But truth be told, even after years of storms and blizzards, we all get sucked into watching the updates. For the local TV and radio stations, it's pure gold for their ratings -- which go through the roof during inclement weather. I love it when they double up meteorologists, and then they tag team each other with updates, in the same news hour! :joyfull:

Hello-

I did a full body circuit today. I wanted to get out for a walk, but it's been raining all day.

Saturday was my birthday and my husband bought me new bungee cords for my rebounder. Wow, what a difference. I can bounce fast on it now. I also got a jump rope, but I keep having to adjust it. I haven't found the right length yet.

I made a chocolate peppermint birthday cake that I had spent a lot of time on. It was warm here Sat, so the frosting started getting gloopy when I was putting the crumb coat on it. So I put the frosting in the fridge while the crumb coat hardened. Wow, what a mistake. My frosting never recovered. It became greasy, sweaty and grainy even though I'd tried to whip it back up. It was really hard to work with. I just reached a point where I thought "Stuff it, this is good enough." But it tasted delicious. I punched out the little stars in fondant and I painted each one with edible holo dust.

Here are photos. Please excuse my messy kitchen. You can see how gross the frosting looks. I used peppermint oil in the frosting, so it had a nice strong peppermint flavor to contrast with the chocolate.tempImageAPybMt.jpgtempImage9XK4H1.jpg

They did that back in Illinois, too. :hilarious: They would cut into regular programming for blizzards and tornados. I guess it's like Christmas for them! :D I don't mind them doing it for tornados, because they can track it in real time and tell people in its path to shelter immediately. To be honest, I would have to turn off the TV, because it would make me so anxious. Sometimes they got a little too excited for my liking.

I live in a more rural area and all it takes is one idiot to knock down power lines:cautious: I always do a bit of food prep when we're supposed to cross the one foot line due to that and if we get that much even if the power stays on we're in for a few days. I'd rather spend my time watching movies than cooking for the shovelers all day for a few days in a row;)

What can be frustrating about some boys (and men) is no matter how stern your refusal is, they think it's a joke or they think it's a challenge to be won. It's such a common trope in movies where the guy wears down the woman until she relents. Thankfully, most men aren't like this, but they are out there. It's always a good idea to teach boys that "no" is a complete sentence. If a girl turns you down, there is no need to ask why. Yeah, it can hurt, but it's better to spend your energy on someone who is genuinely interested in you.
Well, there's no problem with asking why if it's done in a respectful way, that they really want to know what they could do to improve themselves, not demand a reason. But too many times, it's not the "Was I being disrespectful?" type thing. E ended up shoving the kid who's been bugging her today. He got in her way and was dancing around to block her way, so she used the papers she had in her arms and side-swiped him out of the way and apparently knocked him down, which she thinks he exaggerated. She doesn't think she "hit him that hard", but he did fall. Though if he was dancing around, he may not have had his feet planted and it just knocked him off balance. But that he was once again annoying her and refusing to leave her alone was enough for her this time to do something about it. She didn't get in trouble, so either the teachers really didn't see it, or they figured he had it coming. HE got in trouble...the one teacher saw who it was and sent him out of the class without bothering to get an explanation. The other teacher asked what was going on, but let the other teacher handle it. The kid has a reputation for being really annoying and getting sent out of class a lot. He's not particularly bothered by things like....rules.

I'm glad to know it's not just me!! But I can't really clean most of the time because my husband is home and I can't be making noise while he's on a conference call for work. Then when he's done working, I go to work, so I can't clean in the evening either. It just doesn't get done. And like you said, it doesn't STAY clean with everyone home. I get things picked up and 10 minutes later, someone's used the coffee table as a place for their text books, or the couch becomes their coat rack. I find dirty socks under the coffee table. :banghead:

With my dh on nights and not always the same hours vacuuming gets done at strange hours to say the least, same goes for doing laundry:banghead:

Belated happy birthday! Mine was last Wednesday. I made a cheesecake for mine because my son's birthday is 6 days before mine and I made a cake for his, so I didn't want more cake. I think it looks beautiful! I've done that with peppermint oil in the frosting....so good!! Do you use a basic buttercream frosting?

Yikes I would have thought masks would have been mandated long ago. I honestly don't see why they're a big deal
I don't either, though I do have to say with my glasses, they are annoying at work because they fog up and I can't see my scanner screen. But no, they didn't mandate the masks until December 1st in public places and that's when work finally got masks and you now have to wear them any time to are training a new person, working at the same station with someone closer than 6 feet, or doing inventory with two people. I didn't have to train anyone this past week, which is unusual. Last week I was training 4 at once to do returns. And I trained three at once to fill orders. I was surprised not to do any training this week!

We are not used to 6-12 inches of snow in Maryland. That's apparently what we're getting. That's a big nope for us. Everyone's panicking. I fully expect when my mom goes to the grocery store tomorrow, there will be no toilet paper.
