Working at WDW without a High School Diploma?

My mom was wondering if it was possible to get hired at WDW without a high school diploma. Do you need one in order to be hired at the World? Another thing she doesn't have is work experience and is in her 50s. Now she isn't looking to do anything major there and would be happy to do almost anything. One thing she once mentioned that she would enjoy was cleaning the tables off when we were eating at Pizzafari. I told her I would ask and see what you all thought. What do you think her chances would be to get hired?

I honestly don't know. The only thing I've heard (never confirmed though) is that they sometimes hire kids still in high school to work face character jobs, but those sound like special circumstances. On the other hand, there are also a lot of immigrants who work at Disney, some of whom only have a slight grasp on the English language, but that's not to say they don't have a HS equivalent from their respective country. Sorry I can't help you further.

Thanks for helping. I guess you would have to know someone without a high school diploma/GED and no previous work experience that works for WDW to know if it is possible.

Diploma is not needed. Several of the roles in the parks/resorts have no education requirement, they are looking for individuals with strong work ethic and a positive attitude. As it's a popular summer job for high schoolers in the area, many use it to start "gaining" work experience.

Now, with that said, you will find many people working in the parks that have diploma's and degrees (I know two Photographers that have their PhD). They may be starting a new career path, trying to work their way into Leadership, or may be retired. So some roles can be more competitive because of that.

Housekeeping typically has openings, does she have any cleaning experience/interest? I'd recommend starting there!

Thanks! She does have a positive attitude and a great work ethic. I know she would do well if given the chance. The only cleaning experience she has is with her own home so hopefully that would count if she went for housekeeping. Thanks again for responding and I will let her know what you said.
