Woohoo! Just had to share...

Last Saturday, my 4 month old son woke me up at 5am. After getting him back to sleep, I went back to bed and then I got it....the Walt Disney World fever. We've just moved to Jacksonville from NH and WDW is now only 2 hours away as opposed to 1500 miles away. I was psyched! I pounced on my poor husband at 6am and announced that our whole family was going to WDW today. It took me an hour to get him up, but we piled our 2 1/2 year old, our four month old and us in our truck and we drove down.

It was just so neat to be able to do that on a whim! My only complaint would be that the kids really were kinda young. My 2 1/2 year old was scared of the rides, so we didn't go on much. But it was just nice BEING there, ya know? :D

We both had dole whips and I had my first turkey leg. Yummy!! While eating my dole whip, I sat on a bench near "Bwana Bob's" and tried to figure out why the name sounded so familiar. Then I realized it was someone on this forum. *lol*

I wish I had more to report, but sadly, it was SOO crowded that day and the kids were kinda cranky, so I ended up missing a lot. Next time it'll have to be just me and my hubby...or whenever the fever returns. Hehehe...

Glad you had a great time... wish I was that close to go on a whim (unfortunately my whims take more than a couple of hours). Even though the park was crowded, and kids weren't all into it, the excitement was still there! YAY!!

How wonderful to be able to be spontaneous and be in the parking lot of the Most Magical Place on Earth 3 hours later (or less)! Some people question why a person will take children the age of yours, and the easy answers are (1) they get free admission; and (2) it is sooooo great to see their faces light up in delight over the wonderful sights inside the Magic Kingdom.

I lived in Jax for several years and used to take those spur of the moment trips from time to time. Thanks for bringing back happy memories with your report!

Viva la Dole Whip!

this is exactly why we want to move to florida!!! might be too off topic, but how do you like florida in general compared to where you used to live? we are definately considering moving, it just seems like it would be so different

Sounds like you still had a wonderful time. Trips like these are about the only thing I miss not living on Florida. We used to do day trips all the time while living in Miami. Even to the point of driving to Disney for Dinner and back home on the same day. It was a lot easier to go and only eat when there was only 1 park.

We like it! It's very different though. I now live in Jacksonville, so I'm not used the busy streets and sky. Of course, I've only been here three weeks, so I need to get passed the honeymoon period and really settle in. Ask me once the first hurricane hits. ;)

However, I just left the snowy north and right now I have the sliding glass door open and a nice cool breeze blowing in. :D

Wow, thats really a big difference... from a snowy, cold 23 to a mild, warm, 69! What a change!
