Well folks, I was at Epcot looking for a freind today and it now appears that the shrubs infront of the building are being moved aside. I know the pavillion is opening for the holidays so it is coming soon it appears.

I can't think of anything better than for the WoL to be open this holiday season. It looks like Tennessee will be playing a bowl game in either Orlando or Tampa, so I should be able to make a trip down to WDW this New Year's season. It would absolutely awesome to get to eat at the Sunshine Season's Food Fair next to the fountain and below the ballons one last time and then walk across the park and see Body Wars, still my favorite Epcot thrill ride, one last time as well.

Come on Disney! One more year!

I'll see if I can find out if all parts of the pavillion will be open but I think I heard that the food was closed for good as I know the prep area is now used for filling carts with ice for Squeeze-Breeze in the summer (Trust me, I had to treck over there several times when I was doing Extra Hours).

So does that mean that the pavilion is gonna be more visible?

Yes, grizz is right. Arm yourself with cameras and tape what you can, while it is still there. Your tape might find itself on one of the extinct attraction club videos soon.

I think it would be funny to see grizz walk in their with a production crew, with grizz hats on. At least so he can make a sequel to his WOL video. It could be an E-True Hollywood story or in this case an E-True Disney Story :)

At least we know it would be the best sequel that involves disney.

Better then Toy Story 2, Toy Story 3 and what ever other sequel they have done or intend to do.

Down with sequels, except Grizzes.

I could always dig through the old home movies my dad filmed from 1990. He has both Body Wars and Cranium command on one of the tapes...

And that reminds me... last trip, we filmed a complete ride-though twice for Test Track. We were going to do the same for Dinosaur but we did not.

Maybe someone here can answer this, because I don't get it:

Why is Wonders of Life on the endangered pavilions list, and only open seasonally? Last I saw, it had one major attraction (Body Wars - granted it's dated), one "loved by many gem" (Cranium Command), and a third attraction that many people enjoy (Making of Me). In addition, it has a bunch of and fun exhibits. I don't get it.

And I'm not one of those "save all Disney attractions" people. I was happy to see Pooh supplant Toad, Test Track supplant WoM, M:S replace Horizons, and yes, even Stitch replace AE. I'm all in favor of progress. But WoL just doesn't seem too broken. A new flick in Body Wars and maybe Cranium Command, and it's as fresh as ever.

Is there something I'm missing? Are these unpopular attractions? Is the building sinking? I don't get it...

(Oh, and will it be open in March? I'll be there, and kind of like the pavillion and my oldest is ready for Making of Me...)

Wonders of Life has been steadily sinking in attendance since the mid-90s, although it still got SEVERAL thousand guests per day (much more than JII, Energy, and over 10,000/day average). The attraction is closed because Disney gets a tax write-off for keeping the pavilion seasonal. Meaning, Disney operates the inside of the pavilion nearly every day - if not every - for Cast socials/conventions/plant light, but closes it to guests.

Which stinks because WoL is one of the last peaceful and balanced pavilions at Epcot. It certainly needs a rehab, but what Disney has done/may do here is just another away at Future World. Which would probably be another reason not to visit the park.

Oh I hope it will be open in December when we're there for the meet! Maybe Epcot will have to be our Sunday destination!

Yeah i was in there a few weeks ago cause the Future Business Leaders of American (FBLA) was having a conference. So we went there to use the stages and stuff. It was really weird though cause everthing was closed and there were no other people. It was kinda spooky!

I said this when the pavilion went to "seasonal status", but the problem I have with the WOL pavilion is how outdated it is. I wish Disney could just get the $$$ or sponsor together and update it. I think the concept of a pavilion dedicated to health and the "wonders of life" is beyond amazing and is something that should NOT be removed from the Epcot line-up, but not as the pavilion stands in its current state. When some of the "pick up a phone and listen" exhibits talk about things that "one day we might do" and we are already doing them, its time to close up shop and fix it. Cranium Command is a "classic" in some sense, but is incredibly dated...most kids probably don't even get the whole Hanz and Franz thing, etc. It needs an overhaul. As does Body Wars...a much better, more realistic portrayal of the inside of the human body could be developed with the digital capabilities of today. In some respects, I even consider the pavilion embarrassing for its dated approach to the human body and health. But if there's anything I wanted more at Epcot it would have to be an updated WOL pavilion, but in its current state, I'm not a big fan....but then again, I'm even less of a fan of attractions going into "seasonal status".

(As an aside, I wish they could even throw in a Kitchen Kabarat or a Food Rocks type show into an updated WOL pavilion as that show would fit thematically MUCH better there then it ever did in The Land)
