Wonders of Life open during July?

The official WDW site's operational update does not show Wonders of Life being closed during July (it does for every other month currently available) - is this a mistake, or will it actually be open? I'm going in July and haven't been in WOL for years!

I don't see why they would ever reopen that pavillion, its stuck in a 1980s time warp and I'm sure nothing in there has been serviced in years. If it is open I would have to assume it would be used for either private events or possibly a backdrop for temporary booths of some sort.

It probably will be open. They seem to open it in times of heavy attendance and then just random days.

I was there in Feb 2005 and they had it open even though the park was pretty slow.

Maybe they just use the YOAMD random generator to decide when to have it open. There's not much to do in there anymore but you could at least get a quiet place to escape the heat for a few minutes.

My guess, possibly open during SSE Refurb and during peak attendance.
So, July-August are big months at WDW and no SSE means the need for more to do.

Similar to Horizons brief relaunch for the Test Track construction, I could see WoL getting an extended run.

I also hope it is open as I haven't been in there since 2001. In 2005 we went in but don't think we were really supposed to, Nothing was open, no exhibits worked, no shows, etc. It was creepy actually :lookaroun

Sorry, that sentance above is a little bit contradictory. An open building would not be used for private events during park hours. A CLOSED building (like WOL currently is) would be used for private events. There have actually been quite a few private events there lately. As far as the last time it received some TLC, many parts of WOL were rehabbed in '05, and there was a paint-job sometime last year. Even though the pavilion looks like it's from the early 90s, parachute pants and all, it doesn't look as run-down as it had in the past.

All of Disney's refurbs are not showing up for various periods, so i'm going to assume they're updating for December and nothing is working properly.

I think it was wishful thinking on WoL being open in July.

From the Disney website (if this link works):
http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wd...lendarRefurbishmentsListingPage&date=20070701

What is says:
Body Wars: Operates Seasonally; Temporarily Closed [July 1, 2007 to July 31, 2007]
Cranium Command: Operates Seasonally; Temporarily Closed [July 1, 2007 to July 31, 2007]
Spaceship Earth: Closed for Refurbishment [July 9, 2007 to July 31, 2007]
The Making of Me: Operates Seasonally; Temporarily Closed [July 1, 2007 to July 31, 2007]

So, no WoL in July (or anytime soon). What is interesting is that November shows it closed 11/1-11/30. If it were going to open, you'd think it'd be open over the Thanksgiving holiday. I'll be interested to see December pop up. Maybe WoL has finally given it final hurrah. If so, I hope they have some upcoming plans for the space. Epcot could use a new pavillion in addition to having WoL so I hope they do something with it.

WOL is EXTREMELY profitable as a private event location since it can be used during park hours and is such a large space that it can host groups of thousands. Imagine, a group of 2000, with an F&B minimum of 50 dollars per head, plus an open premium bar, or even a cash-bar... Easily $150,000+ from a single event. Which means it may not necessarily have something replacing it soon. Large spaces in park are in high-demand. Guests from large convention and private groups want a place that their clientel can come in some AC, grab some free food and drinks, and not have to leave a park to do it. WOL meets those requirements and does it well.

As a side note... i always loved the retro mid 1980-s feel that place always gave off whenever i stepped foot into it. Cranium Command was always a must when we went to EPCOT, haha, and now that i am WELL older than 11, i think i might gain a much more respectful understanding as to what exaaaactly is going on in "The Making of Me."

But that place has been closed on and off for quite a bit. I always just thought that Disney quit on it for being so old? Which, i always disagreed with.

Seriously though, if it opens again, I'll be there...and take mad loads of pictures before they decide to never open those sliding doors again.

There is still plenty to do in there. I spent a good three hours in Wonders of Life one day back in December, then came back two days later and spent another hour and a half. If my trip had been longer, you can bet I would have been in there more...so much to do, so little time.
One of my favorite Disney attractions of all time is in there - Cranium Command. And I enjoy The Making of Me, Goofy About Health, and Body Wars, too. There were also plenty of other things to do in the Sensory Funhouse areas. Would I prefer it if everything in the building were up and running? Of course, but I was happy with what I found.
I still don't think it's as retro 80s as some others apparently do. There is only one thing I would replace - the costumes for the CMs. I'll grant you they are ugly, but everything else seemed modern enough for me.
But, since Disney doesn't seem to care about it anymore (because someone else isn't paying for its upkeep), I'm glad I made sure I took "mad loads of pictures" as well as tons of video. It angers me to see one of my favorite pavilions treated this way, but at least I got one last chance (since I doubt I'll be there at Christmastime again soon) to visit Buzzy, Major Knowledge, Martin Short, and Elizabeth Shue!

I say just close WOL and change it to EPCOT CONVENTION AND MEETING CENTER.

Totally rehab it for a huge ball room type convention center with break out rooms etc.

Im really suprised Disney hasnt done anything about this attraction.

You really are lucky. It has been a while since I had been to WoL and I kept thinking for some reason Goofy was there dressed as a baseball player. Now I remember it was Goofy about Health.

I miss it too. Whenever I went to Epcot, and granted, it wasn't much back when I was a kid, I ALWAYS loved Wonders of Life. I insisted we go in there and I remember spending a good two hours, at least, in there. It was a total blast. It's a shame it's pretty much closed with slim hope of it really re-opening.

It could use massive UPDATING. And if they haven't replaced it yet ... when will they (if they haven't THIS long, I guess they probably won't) and what are some ideas they COULD replace it with?

Another Pixar themed attraction?
