Wonderland and a Second Fantasyland Expansion?

*sigh*Here I go again with the Fantasyland stuff.

Magic Kingdom is quickly becoming one of the most lacklustre castle parks. For decades, it has been inferior to Disneyland. Over time, it appears to be getting less and less appealing, increasing the gap in quality between the two parks, and some of the overseas castle parks as well.

As always, I’ve set my sight on Fantasyland. The New Fantasyland update brought lots of excitement, but did not quite pay off in the way we had hoped. Then I did a little more digging, and determined that the Fantasyland of today has around the same amount of attractions as the Fantasyland of 1971. Not counting Enchanted Tales with Belle (it’s more live entertainment), there’s 10 in total. Not including the 5 that have stuck around from the beginning, past Fantasyland had Mr Toad, Snow White, the Skyway, 20K Leagues and Mickey Mouse Revue. Today, we have Mine Train, Pooh, Mermaid, Philharmagic, and Barnstormer.

Fantasyland needs more worthwhile attractions no doubt. So I started to look at potential expansion pads, and what’s highlighted is what I have come up with.

The pink is half of the speedway. Quite a sizeable plot, although I extended it a bit too far. 2-3 worthwhile attractions can fit in that plot, between Fantasyland and Tomorrowland. Obviously, I would like to see Wonderland. Disney’s greatest fantasy world barely has any presence at the Magic Kingdom. I’m not sure if I’d like to see a dark ride, or a trackless ride, but something unique from Disneyland’s experience. I’m sure I will detail it more in the future, this post is just to outline the expansion areas.

As for the blue and green, are they expansion areas? If so, I think it would’ve been nice to see original Frozen and Princess & the Frog attractions there instead of the rough shoehorns Disney made for them. But what else could go there? Perhaps a Pinocchio Village with an alpine coaster? Or maybe something Fantasia related? A larger Winnie the Pooh area? Neverland? Any thoughts?

I think Wonderland and/or Neverland sub-lands would be cool, but if I were in charge, I would allocate some of that pink expansion pad for Tomorrowland space.

There’s Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast in Tokyo Disneyland.
I wasn’t too remarkably impressed by what I have seen from that attraction. If they can do it at an inexpensive budget, by all means, but if we’re cloning one TDL trackless ride, it’s gotta be Hunny Hunt.

I’d rather them just not clone anything though.

Unfortunately, the green/blue space is not really usable as it's in the fireworks fallout area. One time a bit of firework fallout got on the vegetation on the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and it caught on fire. Luckily, the fire was put out before too much damage was done. But it proves that it's not really usable.

Speaking of Pinocchio, I thought of doing something, anything, in that space. I had initially thought of a mildly thrilling water ride (possibly themed to the escape from Monstro), but I'm concerned that the space may be too small for my idea.

Another idea I had, which could physically fit in relatively better, was a revival of the old swing ride concept for the CA Adventure, which became Silly Symphony Swings. I thought, though, that the concept of a swing ride was rather unwieldy of doing something like the swinging balloon-like ride (a Zamperla Samba Balloon) at the CA Adventure (Flik's Flyers, which later became Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind). I'm also concerned that the space of what would be Geppetto's Workshop for the theme was too far away from the village where it should located (although I could put it in the space where Mickey's PhilharMagic is located) and thought of maybe doing it maybe as Stromboli's Puppet Theater or something.

I've gotten around this problem by making it an indoor expansion. You can't catch a building on fire if the building is concrete 😉

I think the Tomorrowland Speedway space would be perfect for an Alice in Wonderland dark ride, what with it being near the Mad Tea Party. Maybe it could hold TWO dark rides, depending on how big the space is.

How about Princess Fairytale Hall? That space should totally be a dark ride again. Maybe a new version of Mr. Toad?

In general, I think the Magic Kingdom's Fantasyland could use more dark rides. Peter Pan and Pooh are great, but a few more could really boost capacity and bump us up to the same number as Disneyland's.

Looks goody good.

I would definitely replace the Speedway as well. It takes up a lot of real estate and doesn't even fit the land it's in. In fact I'd be totally down for some new rides in both Tomorrow and Fantasyland.

Fantasyland - Alice in Wonderland, Sleeping Beauty, Pinocchio
Tomorrowland - Stitch, Wall-E and The Incredibles

I think in a perfect scenario the Pinocchio ride would be right next to Village Haus, where the ATM is on the map. Meanwhile Wonderland would take half of the Speedway's expansive layout as you suggested, integrating both the Tea Cups and a dark ride into this subsection.

A bigger Pooh area could be neat. Heck, Star vs. the Forces of Evil might work. And if we want to look into outside IP, Puyo Puyo merits at least a restaurant. And again, seeing some kind of Monstro ride would be cool.
