Wondering and worried with the economy being IFFY as it is, if just before summer Disney don't pull a fast one and raise admission ticket prices. That would be kinda rotten if they did. Keeping my fingers crossed that nothing goes up higher before my trip this summer.:lookaroun

Don't they usually do it around April? I can't imagine Disney would pass up their annual opportunity to make more money.

If your economy is "iffy" then Disney would be shooting itself in the foot by raising ticket prices - its dear enough at present without another increase. There again, isn't George supposed to be giving everyone a tax refund ??

I'm hoping our current economic state is closer to a hiccup than a recession. I think the idea of a recession was blown way out of proportion by the media: we all know how they like to sensationalize things. They predicted a virtual stock market crash the day after MLK day and it ended up not being nearly as bad as they thought.

If we could only have the courage to become independent from foreign oil, we wouldn't be having any of these problems!

Back to topic.... when was the last time they raised ticket prices? I feel like it was within the past year, was it not? I doubt they would do it again so quickly even given these circumstances.

If you're talking about the economic stimulus package, it passed in the House but a few stingy members of the Senate are slowing it down by trying to add a bunch of pointless revisions. At this point it might take several months before our checks actually get mailed out by Uncle Sam.

And yes you're probably right that raising ticket prices in a slow economy should be the opposite of the right thing to do. Logic would tell you that in a slow economy, people are already less likely to take vacations, so why would they be willing to spend MORE on Disney tickets? It's possible Disney might go the route of raising prices in order to gouge those who are willing to take a WDW vacation no matter how the economy is doing. It wouldn't be the first time.

Didn't Disney raise ticket prices twice in one year recently? Maybe they forsaw something in the economy.

Yes!
In 2005 Disney started the MYW tickets at a new price of $59.75 adult/$48.00 child
Then January 1, 2006 they up'd the price to $63 adult/$52 child and then up'd the price again in August 2006 to $67 adult/$56 child
And again on August 5, 2007 to $71 adult/$60 child

....so they changed the price 3 times in less than two years!

I agree that it would be crazy to up the price again with the economy real shakey as it is now!

I have a feeling the parks will all be holding off on ticket increases. It doesn't make sense to do it in the economy we have.

I wonder if there will be any greater incentives/deals to draw people in this year? Well, more than in recent years?

I also wonder if there will just happen to be any great deals from vacation destinations right about the time the stimulus package checks come out to the public ...:lookaroun...

It would be nice if they did. If things get rough maybe they will do free dining again or possibly extend it. But who knows with Disney. Of course us one of the Konsultants will let you know when things are coming out.

I was listening to one of the New York news channels in the car the other day- apparently Disney stock took a dip on the news that they were preparing to discount hotel rooms later in the year, to combat the lagging economy. I can't see them boosting ticket prices when they're predicting empty rooms. Lets keep our fingers crossed.

They will wait until they know the stimulus checks are sent out :ROFLOL:

At the earliest, the checks will be sent out is May.
I'm betting Disney holds pricing. If the economy continues to slow as it is, then raising prices could be damaging to their bottom line. As previous stated, Disney stock dipped because they feel a downturn in attendance this year and raising prices could hurt the numbers more.
