WOC - Celebrate on Low Crowds Day

Hi WDWMagic community,

I'm a new poster here, so if the info I'm seeking is elsewhere, I welcome redirection!

My DH and I are planning to go to DCA in September on a day Touring Plans ranks as a 2 on the crowd calendar. I've never been to DCA before, and we'll be driving in from about an hour away. The park is supposed to be open from 10-8 that day.

My question is if we should purchase the WOC dining package. From what I've read, we would probably still need to line up pretty far in advance to see the show. With just one day, this is a little disheartening to hear, and makes me wonder if it's worth it to buy the package.

So my question out to you all is: 1) buy the package or not, and 2) on a low crowd weekday, how early do we need to line up for WOC-Celebrate?

Thanks in advance!

You need to get a fastpass ticket for WOC. There are located near the grizzly river runs fastpass. Even on a low crowd day WOC will be full and you can only see it if you have a fastpass. I always get the dining package because I always like to eat at Carthay Circle, and you now what section you will be in. If you get a fastpass ticket you do not get to choose the section that you will be in.

There is no 'lining up' to see the show. If you won't be there at opening to get a FP, get a dining package.

Thanks - that map is very helpful. I'm vertically challenged, so sounds like our original plan of a dining package is the better plan. Consensus is that Carthay Circle is best for two adults (granted one of whom is a meat/potatoes/pasta person), or should we look at the other options?

Trattoria is the other good option. Check out the menus - I'm not a big fan of Carthay for the price (portions are small and service has been abysmal on every one of my visits) so it comes down to preference.

I, on the other hand, was extremely impressed by Carthay Circle.
I would recommend both the dining package and the lounge downstairs. Order something that requires them to make you an ice sphere.

Both the Carthay and Trattoria are pretty expensive but will give you the best reserved viewing options. Kinda a one time experience for us. We never pay for dining packages anymore and if we see WOC, we go against the railing right behind that planter in section B7 in the map above. Pretty close to dead center, above the crowd and a great view.

Thanks all, I'll take a look at the menus.

So with the dining package, how early do we need to get into position to view the show?

With World of Color, we found 30 minutes to be more than enough.

We also did the Fantasmic dining package and that was another story. The entire Frontierland waterfront was total chaos and the majority of the cast members running crowd control didn't actually know where we were supposed to go line up (turned out to be the very, very far left, near Harbor Galley. We showed up a good 45-50 minutes ahead of time there and were glad we did.

I am just under 5 feet tall, so I get a spot 45 minutes before the show. I try to find a spot with a short hedge or something in front of me, so that tall people can't stand in front of me during the show.

What would be really neat, is if they just ran the show on loop at dusk.

Then guests can come and go as they please and really enjoy it instead of making it a 90+ minute hole of chaos in their schedules.
