WL vs AKL

I've never stayed at either, but my DH and I are seriously considering going for a deluxe (standard room) next time we go (in 2005). Can I get some opinions? What did you like/dislike about each of them? Given the choice, where would YOU stay?

Great choices!

I have stayed at either resort, and personally my favorite is the
AKL. I was told that WL was originally designed to fall into a new hotel
category, between Moderate and Deluxe, and then it was decided that it
would be in the Deluxe category. I mention this as I found the rooms at
the WL to be smaller. True, you can see the animals from a Savannah view
room, how much time do you spend in your room? Still, the AKL is truly a
beautiful resort, and I think you will be more than happy staying there.

AKL Is The Best Choice. They have their own Busses and they do have african music in the lobby, and lots of animals, and a special scent..............I Miss AKL!

I think it's a mix between Boma and also the firepit in the lobby. But it sure is good. Makes you want to eat, even if you are not hungry. :slurp:

AKL!!!!

One of the best themed resorts in all WDW, I feel that AKL is quiet with a unique style...and though sometimes its quite a hike to your room (hallway, hallway...more hallway) its just the overall atmosphere at AKL that is unrivaled by any other resort on property. You truly escape from the ordinary, from the continent really....the rooms are beautiful and the savanah view is great....it feels like your in a lodge in the middle of Africa...

Boma has great food....and the Mara Grill ain't to bad....the pool is unique....no bus sharing...beautiful lobby (up there with GF)....a little far from the action...but isn't that a good thing? (you can relax)...hehe

WL is nice, one of my favorites aswell...but AKL is better in my opinion...

Wilderness Lodge, all the way!!

Best theme, better water access, better Magic Kingdom access (Splash Mountain) and better restaurants for my admittedly picky family. (okay, so my wife is not picky, but as to the rest of us...)

This will be at least our fourth stay there, more than any other Disney hotel.
